From a fellow underground rapper, allow me to clear up this whole issue.

A freestyle is completely off the top of the dome, whatever comes to mind as you spit it (although many artists have prepared bars and fill in the blanks followed by memorized punchlines). And a free-verse is WRITTEN, but often incorporated with takeoffs, or songs that have no chorus or hook, and focus completely on long verses (traditional verses are 16 bars). Props to Drama B. Not bad kid.
