"dude".. a satire is: the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people's stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.
satire can be comical.. but it uses humor to address serious issues, in a critical way..
"we need a war to make us feel safe" he's criticizing American government and commenting on the absurd notion that a war provides security..
If Casey Spooner and Warren Fischer are willing to raise their voices against a war, then why include a song called "We Need a War" with completely imperialistic, pro-war lyrics, in their second album?
I mention this because it didn't come across at all as something ironic, when I listened to it.
no.. i think it's satire... and it is ironic but i think his tone is mocking the neo-conservative idea "we need a war to show em'" and the gun blazing honky morons that fancy themselves "mavericks".. just my opinion.. yea, nekrad totally didn't read your first statement.. haa..

Yes; in fact, that is so much the case you can't even find the word "ironic" in the last paragraph of my previous post.
But just so you rest assured, "irony" is what you call something that's said in a tone contrary to it's actual meaning.
I'd appreciate that you read the whole comment before posting an answer to it.

It's one of those cases where the intent is positive, but the outcome could be disastrous.
Being anti war only makes them clever. Good for them.
Dude, a satire is a mockery of something.
Such as comedy.
