I had a ipod touch 2g and iphone 3gs got fed up with them in about a month could do with something like n800 with flash, always like nokia gone back to a n95 now
Why are you all so against the touch (please don't defend here, I don't mean ALL of you)???? I mean, if you want to go onto the real internet, why would you do it on a tiny screen anyway? Who sits around a mini screen and does that? Get out your laptop!!!!! Or text a friend, why does skype matter? My phone does video chat, it's easy and barely costs a thing! iPod touch has youtube, facebook, and fabulous browing. yes, the n800 is a nifty device, but if you need real internet, just use a laptop
The iPod touch is a deaf-mute device - no speakers and no microphone. The browser is pretty much dull as it won't show pages at it should on a regular computer. The N800 grants better and more multimedia and internet features.
Sorry guys, I've used both devices and kept my N800. It's Linux based after all.
iPod Touch 2G has speakers. The Safari web browser is amazing. I mean you can't expect to write PHP on it but for all other websites like FaceBook,MySpace,YouTube, and mostly all gaming websites it's more then perfect. I tohugh of buying a Nokia Internet Tablet, and i can't deny the fact that it's just amazing, but i'll have to go with the iPod. =]
I like the N800. But for the next device, how would be to have an optical mouse to the right, a little bigger than that of the Innov8, which you could use with your right thumb; and of course, some gaming keys at the back of the device which you could use with your remaining fingers of your right hand? Of course, don't giving away a touch screen maybe with 2 finger touch support!
i have the ipod touch but you never know which one is better until you the user have both in your hand but they both seem really good in what they were built for
hey can u tell me how i can get canola cause i've looked at so many sites n idk im jus gettin a lil fustrated so can u kinda walk me through it if u dn't mind??????
If u hav the latest firmware, go 2 maemo(dot)org/downloads/OS2008/multimedia/. Don't 4get to replace (dot) w/ a period. Look 4 Canola2 Media Player & clik on the green arrow to the rite of it. A window shuld pop up, hit open, & package manager shuld open. Another series of windows will pop up so just hit ok or yes. Package manager will also ask u where 2 save so remember where u place it.
HOW in the world did you get so many songs on your N800?! I put like 18 songs on mine and one 8 minute video and it took up most of the memory on the memory card that came with it!
4gb sd cards are just $20 a peice, Which holds a good amount. I also find that mp3 or ogg is better than any lossless file on portable devices. Lossless would be .wav, wma lossless, lossless.aac, FLAC, and a few more.
I remember when the Ipod Touch launched and I immediately knew i would never want/have one as its trying to fight in areas it cant compete , I have browsed the internet on the touch and n800/n810/p1i/N95 and i cant compete with them, hell my K750i with opera is better. They had to try and beat archos if they wanted to go near video with the ipod, they failed that, and the 3g nano is fat. (owner of a 5G video and a 2G nano) TBH they were the best ipods
nokia might be abit better but just look at the price .. i dont want to give 1000$ ( afterall ) for this shit .. but i would pay 250 $ for an ipod touch actually ..
exactly i wanted to get an iphone but im on tmobile so instead im gonna get the ipod touch cuz it has all the features of the iphone except its not a phone and it doesnt have a camera and gps but i have a phone with a camera so i dont need that anyway.i already have a computer so i dont wanna get a freakin internet tablet
thank u!!! i hav soooo many ppl who when they see my nokia n800 think its a phone, its so tiring tryna convice them tht its not a phone!!! its an internet tablet
jailbreak the touch and add apollo or other aim related apps. but yea the n800 is really good, big screen, nice res, has flash built in, but im probably getting the touch soon because the n800's just too big for me. i need something small and very portable, and music is going to be about half of what i do. btw, do u have an n800?
But I also have ipod video. I don't really prefer touch screen media players. It's just my opinion. When I listen to music I like to know where exactly the buttons are so touch screen isn't for me.
The N800 and N810 can use either Wifi or a Bluetooth connection to your existing mobile phone for internet access. The iPod touch can ONLY use WiFi. The iPhone can use WiFi or AT&T's slow EDGE network. With my N800 and N810, I have used Verizon's EVDO rev A mobile broadband network but have since switched to using a Nokia N95-3 on AT&T's high-speed HSDPA network (which the iPhone does not support.)
well the thing that this touchscreen on the nokia is kind of senseless is the fact that you cannot tap the songs but have to tap the "buttons" which appear on the screen, so its like a normal button.
on the ipod touch you can tap each song directly and not just by virtual buttons...
I have both, and i have to say, as far as the internet goes, the touch is shit. On that note, as far as media playing, the nokia isint half as cool...But if i had to go for one or the other, id got n800, because although media playback isint as "pretty", it still works, internet on the ipod touch misses bluetooth, FLASH..yes i said FLASH, and LEGAL 3rd party app abilites (right now). But like i said, i have both
The Nokia is a great device, I'm sure, but browsing or simply going through menus just doesn't look like fun. I'm sure it's not a chore either, but even doing the most mundane things on the iPod Touch menus is a total pleasure, due to the liquid smooth scrolling, and interface.
some of you are so stupid. of course the tablet would be more bulky than the ipod touch. the ipod touch doesn't even a third of the applications on an n800
i dont have an ipod touch yet but i know what to do: go to: video. google . com then search for a video (some videos wont work. when you've searched select the video and it will go to a page and it should say Download for iPod Video/ SonyPsp. click on download and the video should start buffering.
Can you download videos from a website onto the iPod touch? I know it has YouTube capability, but if you can't download videos (from somewhere besides iTunes) then you're limited to watching only in WiFi supported areas (not my school bus).
What is the battery life of just browsing the web?? Thats the main reason i want one b/c its fully capable of web browsin' and is ultra portable. I don't want to carry my laptop everywhere I go. So can anyone answer my question?
My average battery time of 100% web browing at 100% brightness is about 5-7 hrs. I find I use the web browser for quick things that I need to look up that I don't feel like firing up my computer for.
The iPOD Touch is nice looking with software with lots of eye candy but at the end of the day it doesnt actually do anything really well. The N800 can play just about anything you throw (plays avi/xvid fine) at it and renders web pages fine, the iPOD Touch can do neither well.
