  • Why was he cheated of the Best Director Category TWICE? Why?

  • shush! god is speaking!

  • 5 people are lost in limbo. does anyone have a gun I could use, or should we just leave them there? ^___^

  • Nolan is the same to Hollywood, as Batman to Gotham.

  • @qwuezalothus Well said my friend. I applaud you!

Now proceed to view my videos and follow me to stardom.

  • @qwuezalothus Nolan isn't a very big Hollywood diector. He isn't part of that bull. Nolan is an original filmmaker much like tarintino and Scorcese.

  • @StreinjFilms

I think Hollywood is corrupted as much as Gotham. Only in a different way.

  • @qwuezalothus I agree, couldn't have said it better...

  • i don't think anyone is intelligent for GETTING a movie. i think that just means you're doing a stupid director's job. i agree that a good movie makes you think. but a good movie doesn't require you to figure it out. thinking is intelligent not making basic sense of a movie. stop being so full of yourselves you snobs.

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • Turn on transcribe audio.

  • @TravieMcLeeroy I found it to be more accurate than it is on other videos. Maybe it's the clarity with which Nolan talks with

  • the thing i like is that he is not trying to sound intelligent he is intelligent. i just love to watch this dude talk.his voice is so soothing easy on the ears.

  • he looks like he hasnt slept for 2 weeks

  • 4 people are stuck in limbo

  • @IProKv haha 4 people don't have a totem

  • @starbask another one came to get them out of limbo and got stuck there himself.

  • I'm a huge fan of Nolan, i've loved every film that he's done. His films are intellegent and well put together. But he's not a god he's just a very talented director. The thing I like most about his films are that he's not afraid to do anything, I.E flipping a semi-truck in the middle of Chicago using no CGI or anything. People need to stop comparing him to other directors. Nolan has his own particular style and if you dont like that style then dont watch his films.

  • If I were born just 5 years earlier than Chris Nolan, I would have definitely made an Inception by now. We both have the same minds....

  • when i get to work with christopher nolan one day (hopefully), then i will be ready to die, i would have experienced everything i've ever wanted, he's best director ever (in my opinion)

  • Christopher Nolan is the reason why i'm proud to say, FUCKING DAMN YEAH, HOLY SHITS OF GRAND CINEMA GODS THANKYOU!!! (incoherent cursing). No one gets it snapping and cracking like nolan.

  • He casts thee best actors and actress on his films. It's a gift to see his mind at work.

  • @0123kid

It is. It gives me a large fanbase of idiots to make fun of.

  • @ZombieMan04

    Lol, thumbs down;)

  • @iPwnedUnigga

so true but like u said nolan is a genuis ;)

  • nolan isnt that great.. why do people obsess over his shallow movies?

  • @joker9494949494 , Please recant that statement, holyshit! That's horribly atrocious to say lol

  • @joker9494949494 The same reason people obsess about your moms shallow vagina.

  • @joker9494949494

Because they're idiots. The thing you have to understand about Nolan fans is that they are the dumbest group of fans in the world. They can't understand anything, hence, they always label Nolan's films as being complicated and intelligent. Not because the films are, but because they're too stupid to understand. When The Dark Knight started being considered a "complicated" film, that's when they all admitted to their idiocy.

  • Comment removed

  • @ZombieMan04 insulting people who like Nolan is stupid and a little bit childish. I'm a huge film fan, I love directors like Kubrick, Scorsese, Coppola and so on but I still think Nolan is a great director. If you dont like his films stop watching them. Nolan's films are incredibly intellegent. Nobody said The Dark Knight was a complicated film its just that many of the themes within the film are relatable to modern day events in both American and the World.

  • cristopher nolan looks like the combination of leonardo dicaprio, jude law n heath ledger..very hot

  • it is real blunder on academy's part for not having nominated mr.nolan for one of the best movies that any director in the buisness could ever think of....

  • @AcidicKarma Paparika wouldn't have come close because it stole nolan's idea which he ahd 11 years ago. So I guess nolan did deserve to win for making inception FROM HIS OWN MIND. All yuo faggots love to try and be clever but you miss the most logical art. FACTS!

Fucking dumbass you're not even worth a reply. Don't know why i bothered. Anyways, merry christmas d-bag and oh! let your other friends know about the way paprika stole from nolan. K? k

  • @lalacooby I don't hate leo. I just said that leo was good in titanic. Kate Winslet wasn't. Avatar is great for it's 3D and does the tech justice. But the story or the acting isn't exactly incredible. And now its being released in 3d? All these people are going to shell out for it and this will only create another chain of 3d remakes.

  • @lalacooby Oh wow. You haven't given me one piece of evidence as to why titanic was great and also why I'm jealous. The only reason I would be jealous of Titanic would be if it was a better film. Since it isn't, then I'm not. The acting wasn't too good besides Leo. The story wasn't exciting and teenage girls and older women went and watched it repeatedly because they didn't realize that VHS do get released. However, for that time, it did have good special effects, but it's just not inception. :D

  • Inception just surpasses the brilliance of one's mind

  • How this man has not won an oscar for best director says a great deal about how bullshit the oscars really are

  • @lalacooby Look obviously you either don't know english or your just stupid. Do you have any idea of how the Academy members vote? Tell me what other movie was competing with Titanic in 1998? PS Nolan has been snubber constantly. Oh and titanic's story wasn't great it was more about the ship sinking. Avatar was "dances with wolves" and has no defioning scene or piece of dialogue in the entire film. You're o delusional that it's hard to reason with you.

  • @lalacooby. ALL the film critics are on my side, and if you look on websites like IMDB you will see that most film fans are also on my side. You will have a hard time finding anyone who agrees with you that Titanic and Avatar are as good as Dark Knight and Inception. You are on your own.

Box office does NOT buy respect. People do not buy their Blu Ray movies based on how much money the film made in the cinema.

It is not about who is more popular it is about who is better. Nolan wins.

  • Comment removed

  • @lalacooby - Titanic was not competing against a Chris Nolan movie when it won its Oscars. It was competing against lesser movies.

-On IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes Inception and Dark knight are listed as being superior to both Titanic and Avatar.

    - If Cameron's films are so popular then Why do Nolan's films have higher Critical and Audience approval?

    - Its not just about box office, its about QUALITY. Box office is NOT enough.

  • @lalacooby - .Nolan does not dumb-down his movies (like Spielberg and Cameron) and still manages to get huge box office. This is one of the many things that make him unique.

    - I don't care about Cameron's box office totals - this is no indicator of quality , I did not like 'Titanic' at all. The film is not as respected as any of Nolan's films.

    - Avatar was an amazing film and deserved its box office, but lets face it, it will never enjoy the same respect as Inception or The Dark knight.

  • Comment removed

  • Does one need to fight over someone else's achievements?

Just enjoy this two creators the way they intend you to see their creations.

  • @lalacooby

    - Spielberg has made some bad films "AI" was awful. Nolan has made no bad films.

    - Nolan has better critical acclaim NOT Spielberg.

    - The Dark Knight has made more money than ANY Spielberg film.

    - Chris Nolan writes his own scripts - some of which have been nominated for oscars, how many of his own scripts has Spielberg written???

  • @lalacooby

    - Major Critics Agree that Inception is a Superior film to Avatar.

    - Inception Won MORE oscars than Avatar. Inception's screenplay was also nominated for an Oscar. Avatar's Screenplay was poor.

    - "The Dark Knight" holds 23 box office records - FAR more than any other film.

    - Inception and Dark knight are two of the Highest grossing films of all time. They are also THE TWO MOST CRITCALLY ACCLAIMED BLOCKBUSTERS OF ALL TIME.

    - Chris Nolan is the No1 Director in the world.

  • why don't we look at the success rate then. Look I know you're new to movies and don't understand how to measure quality over quantity. But no worries, you'll grow a little and realizee it sonner or later once you think with an open mind. We need to look at all the movies that both directors made, how many great films they made. Nolan has 0 bad films and every one of his movies is brilliant to the core. Spielberg has some great ones a few good ones and rest of them eh, well you know...

  • Great Director. I just bought Memento but have yet to see it. As much as I liked Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and Inception, I still think The Prestige is bar far his best movie.

  • @lalacooby

"nice try kid. No director like Steven Spielberg have more movies in the list of the 100 best American movies of all time. IMDB top 250 is measure by ordinary user voters. You should look into AFI which is recognize by the best critics in the world."

Haha. Nice try to you too sir. You call imdb inadequate yet you fail to realize that the AFI list came before the Dark Knight was released. So, after TDK was hailed as one of the best films of the past decade which excludes Avatar.

  • @lalacooby sugnificance only speaks for a time perdiod. nolan's films are bound to withstand the test of time. How about you let me know about the films that Cameron and Spielberg have done which surpassed Memento and I shall tear those films a new asshole.

  • Nolan is a very underrated director. He should get more recognition for the movies and works he's made. Still don't understand how he didn't get a nom for best director. In a couple of years, he'll get what he deserves... An Oscar!

  • It's a love story "at the heart of it". Wow.

  • With how sophisticated and serious and intelligent Christopher Nolan always is I think the funniest thing in the world would be him flapping his arms like wings and clucking like a chicken for just a few seconds.

  • @Ninety9Soulz haha well that was random

  • this so so profound =O this was the best film of 2010

  • @AcidicKarma

This would be a valid comment had Nolan plagiarized the concept, but he actually says that Paprika was an influential piece to Inception. It also would have been valid had the two films not been in completely different categories. So it's not regurgitating it. It is his vision. Don't knock it because he's done a wonderful job. I don't know why we all need to find venues to display our jealousy/criticism. Nolan did a great job with Inception.

  • People who like his movies are smart people who happen to be idiots.

  • Chris Nolan should never team up with other directors, nor should any pro director. Every individual has his or her own perspection and vision and teaming up would just be an extreme CLASH OF GIANTS WHICH WILL CREATE A CATACLYSM SUCH AS THE WORLD HAS NEVER KNOWN

but i dont want to build it up too much

  • @Brokenlikefour What about Michael Powell, Emeric Pressburger. Or the Coens?

  • In what is Christopher Nolan not an elite yet? Because he hasn't won best director yet? Almost every one of his movies are like 7/10 by critics and The Dark Knight is easily one if not the best super hero films ever. Inception is underrated. I honestly don't know how at least one actor wasn't nominated for an Oscar. We all know Nolan deserved to win Best Director. And

  • i love u, Nolan! <3

  • Look up "Christopher Nolan Tells a Joke."

  • @RyanTheSausage

    "RyanTheSausage 2 months ago"

I did an it sucked! And also irevlevent because NOLAN'S JOKES CAN ACTUALLY MAKE PEOPLE LAUGH

  • @lalacooby now i can understand your oredcament. You're not intlligent enough to understand Nolan's movies. Go look at imdb's top 250 every single nolan movies besides insomnia is on there in the higher ranks. With inception being 7th and dark knight being 10th. Nolan has two movies in the top 10 of all time whereas cameron and spielberg dont have a single one. nolan's successfully overtaken cameron in every regard as a director

  • @regulator619

spielberg directed schindler's list, that's in the top 10. not taking anything away from nolan. Just stating a fact

  • @7jackb I know shindler's list is incredible and is in the top 10 but nolan has 2 films in the top 10. Schindler's list is a very important film in cinema history, but everyone knows that TDK was a better film on the whole.

The point I was trying to make was the every single Nolan is way more consistant and every film was phenominal and he has the best track record anyone's ever had in hollywood.

  • @regulator619

I completely agree with you, Nolan is my favourite director and he's a flipping good one, but i'm just saying what you failed to point out. Speilberg has made a fair amount of good films but obviously nolan is much more creative and takes much more time in his films relying/trusting oringal actors he's previously used in other films as well as working with his brother, Wally Pfister (cinematography) so full credit to nolan he's inspiration. he's a genius. and he's english!

  • @regulator619 Retard.

  • @7jackb I watcged scgindler's list the other day for te first time andI thought it is themot overrated flm of all time! Jus complete rubbish! The most boring film I have ever seen, only the last 15 minutes were good or inspiring but everything else is compete rubbish. I dont even understand why spielberg had to shoot it in black and white and play such an artist and then give us tha overrated crap. waste of my time

  • 3D is not suitable for Nolan's great films

  • @lalacooby Hahaha and you set that standard, do you?

Every one of Nolan's movies have been incredible on an extraordinary level. Even his first feature film memento is way better than anything Cameron or Spielberg have ever done. The only thing historically important about Avatar is the fact that it ripped off dances with wolves and tried to sell that to an audience by distracting them with 3d. The historical part is, it brought the average American's intelligence to a 'historical' low.

  • He has the nose of a black person on a white body. (no racism intended). that's weird.

  • @TheGreenteawithmilk You are a dumb American.

  • @DerrenBrown100 what re you? least i call it how i see it.

  • How is he so good? Where does he get so many original and amazing ideas? Keep sticking to your ideals Nolan, you are the man.

  • James Cameron has made some fucking classics.

But his films don't affact me in the way something like Inception does.

Just watched it and it blew my mind. Films and dreams go so well together anyway.

  • Christopher Nolan is god himself!!!!!

  • Fuck, I was gonna say exactly the same about the man.

  • Dull man, big imagination.

  • if some1 can make movies like momento, prestige, batman begins, inception n above all dark knight. yeah sure no need to argue between nolan n cameron :)

  • Nolan loves to say "IDEA" lot of times

  • Chris Nolan is my favorite director of all time.

  • This man is the smartest man ive ever seen, hands down

  • Chris nolan- memento, batman begins, the prestige, the dark knight.

James Cameron- The terminator, T2, aliens, titanic, avatar.

NEITHER OF THESE DIRECTORS SUCK IF YOU SAY EITHER OF THEM DO YOUR AN IDIOT.

  • This guy is the definitive film director of this generation.

  • everyone boycott the oscars for not nominating Christopher Nolan for best director

  • @scs54 I agree, but you're missing one important word... 'Again'.

  • @scs54 he doesnt deserve to be nominated. there were directors who are now dead unfortuneately who are better than him tenfold, namely hitchcock, kubrick and leone

  • @scs54 it was actually decided to not nominate him because theyre saving the award for the dark knight rises. so he did get nominated but not given the award

  • @scs54 The Oscars are for mainstream analytical thinking, such as Avatar. They uses excuses, like the technical feat undertaken to create such an expansive world and environment. When inception uses an idea and adds layers to create a very dynamic and intricate story line. But Nolan goes one better and designs a movie using exceptionally well done shots and great actors. You are right, Christopher would have been a ample nominee. But nfortunately that does not mean he would have won.

  • In my view of life you have 2 kinds of people. You have some avatar people, and you have some inception people

Inception people- hmmm, why that's very interesting mr nolan. Interesting indeed.

    Avatar people- DUH HUH PRETTAY!

  • @TOshow1

or the third kind who can appreciate both for what they are and not hate on other people for their difference in preference.

That kind i call, open minded people. good day sir.

  • All of his movies feel the same whenever I watch them.

  • Nolan is the reason i still enjoy walking into movie theaters even if it's only a few, he truly ranks among the great innovators and architects of films in this case a original thriller and not one that has spoon feeding as a primary purpose for profit but just a plain good movie out of his head as this was a very thrilling movie to watch, to not have to be bored by so many other dull lazily constructed films of myopic, directionless, and poorly organized directors who lack inspiration element

  • @malows1234 are you retarded?

  • @malows1234 So if it doesn't show blood in a gunshot the movie sucks?

You're so retarded you don't even know how to spell "damn".

    You fail dumbcunt.

    Chris Nolan is amazing.

  • Agreed. If you want realism watch a fucking documentary.

  • @DrunkenPoetic Yep.

  • Not sure by what you mean "funny took him 10 years to finish inception" the guy was directing major projects during this time and still went home and wrote an interesting screenplay. Don't water this down. This took a large amount of work!

  • never have doubts about Nolan, he knows how to make a movie, and do it right!

  • why compare nolan and cameron?

    nolan makes puzzles

    cameron makes fantasies

  • will Inception turn out to be his greatest work? I hope not, Nolan's movies are a kind on its own and so clearly different and better than most movies today

  • camerons for tech

    nolan for script

  • Chris Nolan has a quality which is not quite definable... but everytime I saw a movie that made me go 'WOW, this is brilliant', it turned out to be one of his movies, haha :D I mean, come on, Inception definitely was one of the best things I've ever seen

  • @ethalinia This was the same for me, every movie I watched that made me think WOW what did I just watch turned out to be his. memento, the prestige, inception

  • I'm only 15, but I already know what I want to do and I want to be like Christopher Nolan ;D!!

  • @jesuislepluscool me2!! :P

  • momento, dark knight, the prestige, inception, Nolan is a film genius!!! way better than Cameron, Spieleberg, Tarantino, or Kubrick

  • @raoulhery hold on there take cameron and tarantino out dude

  • not as good as Peter Jackson in his knowledge but he's cool.

  • Memento my favorite film ever.

  • Chris Nolan's got only a few films under his belt compared to other big time directors. Yet each and every one of them is undeniably remarkable. Can't wait for his next big one.

  • Let the Flame wars begin.

  • FU KYOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU ALLLL YOU ARE ALL FAKE FANS YOU ARE ALL SHEEEEEEP DRONES TOOOOOLS INTERNET TOOOOOLS GET A JOB GET.A.JOB.

  • difference between Nolan and Cameron, Cameron was applauded for his massive use of CG, while Nolan was awarded for him limited use of CG

  • Whoa, Christopher Nolan with a beard.....

  • It's kinda funny how Leo helps solidify both of these men's careers in inception and titanic. Yet both are years apart, but close in age of these creations with cameron a bit older when he produced titanic. I believe all directors should get leo in their 40s and their golden

  • Comment removed

  • Best Director EVEEEEEERRRR!!! I want CHrist NoLaN to make more Movies, I cant get Enough Of His Movies :)

  • @OvenBurn I know he is the best!

  • No need for Chris Nolan vs James Cameron arguments. They tend to share the same tenets in filmmaking (such as using CG to enhance filmmaking). Nolan is overall more skilled at crafting narratives and Cameron is overall better at action sequences, but both are pretty intelligent guys that we can thank for bringing sci-fi, noir and intelligent blockbuster making back to mass audiences.

  • @VastedCouth Agreed on all accounts.

  • @VastedCouth I disagree, Chris Nolan is Anti-CGI, he said it in the Dark Knight interviews, Nolan is not 'more skilled' at crafting narratives, he is a non-linear story teller so his films are generally never shown in order. Cameron is an amazing narrative director. However, his films dwell on the fantasy in situations that are never/rarely going to happen (Alien, Terminator). Nolan focuses on 2 central protagonists, what we see but don't comprehend, he plays with our minds (Prestige, Memento).

  • @EStandsForEccentric you hit it right on the head he hates cgi

  • @EStandsForEccentric Nolan isn't anti-CG, he just doesn't advocate the use when live special effects could be used instead. What he's against is the OVER RELIANCE on CG to the point where action scenes are planned around CG setpieces rather than using to merely embellish.

Nolan is more skilled at narratives because he's obviously comfortable with using non-conventional structures and making them palatable to the mainstream. Cameron's stories are always adapted wholesale from standard tropes.

  • @EStandsForEccentric okay um non linear storytelling isnt as easy as it seems, id say that nolan is pretty great at crafting narratives. wtf is "however his films dwell on fantasy in situations that are never/rarely going to happen"? its a movie if movies were real life itd be boring. are you forgetting what a movie is suppose to do? its suppose to create an escape into another world.

  • @VastedCouth Cameron better at actions scenes? Psh. Nolan is so much better in so many ways.

  • @VastedCouth Nolan in my opinion is vastly superior with his narratives. Cameron's films, while visually stunning typically supercede the narrative which tends to weak. Also, if you note in this interview he states that in Inception for instance, 90% of what you see on screen is what was shot behind the camera and that he wanted to be totally organic in his film making as much as possible without resorting to the green screen. Vastly superior filmmaker and story teller.

  • @VastedCouth nolan doesnt like CG while cameron i think embraces it.

  • @VastedCouth James Cameron has sucked ever since Avatar.

  • @VastedCouth One thing to note about a lot of Nolan's movies is that he tends to prefer shooting from a legitimate setting rather than using CGI. He shot the 'rotating hallway' and the 'tilting building' using real set piece. Cameron and Nolan share similar subject matter, but differ in preference of cinematography. But yes, they're both master filmmakers ^ ^. I'm a Fincher fan myself, but Inception was still a masterpiece of ingenuity.

  • @VastedCouth

That's just not true...Nolan wants to use as much possible with real life action and camera tricks to create the shots he wants. Cameron uses CG on every level, all the time. In fact, this is the thing I admire the most in Nolan and his films are the lack of CG and 3D in them.

This is even evident in this interview.

  • @VastedCouth Avatar sucked ass. Theres no need for Cameron vs Nolan becasue cameron's way below Nolan at this point. Nolan dosnt use CG unless it only adds to what he realistically shot in the first place

  • @VastedCouth James Cameron uses CG, Christopher Nolan is against using CG. He makes real time effects.

  • @VastedCouth Well lets see, James Cameron Avatar was all pretty much CGI. Chris Nolan has a more creative mind and reveals it on the big screen.

  • @VastedCouth they should team up!

  • @VastedCouth how can cameron go along with the avatar script if he is so intelligent?

  • do you hear that hollywood?! visual effects must enhance the experience not create it.

  • young james cameron

  • Christopher Nolan is the epitome of what I want my life to be. Travelling the world making great films.

  • How do I know I'm not dreaming....????

    AAH!

    *shoots herself*

lol kidding. fantastic movie though =D

  • Truly one of the BEST directors of ALL TIME. ALL of his films are so beautifully produced. Most of today's directors are lacking what Nolan has and that is dedication and passion for making films.

  • Inception is so damn awesome... love it...

  • christopher nolan has mindfucked me from reality to the next 5 dream levels of mindfucking

  • that is a genius

  • Christopher Nolan for President!!!!!!!! thumbs up

  • Nolan ! make the Metal Gear movie with Kojima PLEASE

  • a good director pushes his actors to get the best performances out of them...

if you susbscribe to that statement.... then it isn't hard to believe Christopher Nolan's directing style is the cause for Keith Ledgers death... actors should be more selective when choosing which directors they choose to work for...

  • @iamborghini1 u mean heath, get it right.

  • @iamborghini1

heath ledger died of od. not hard work.
