@tomwils92 You're first comment about America not having the right idea isn't true. Of course if you look at it as if you drove these 2 vehicles aroud the Nurbergring everyday, of course the M5 is better. But I don't ussually drive any car around the Nurbergring. Also, £30000 doesn't come out of nowhere. I'd rather have the 300c and add extra mods myself for about 10 -15 grand, (wich can work rather well), than an M5 wich is more complicated than dismantaling a nuclear missile, for 50% more cash
@RoflzLoler I'm talking about the whole front end, noticed especially in the headlights. The body shape is obviously copied from the continental. Chrysler simply changed the roof and put disgusting rims on it. Why add 10-15 grand worth of aftermarket modifications onto the Chrysler? You could get an M3 instead. The Chrysler's V8 is nothing special.
@YouFreakinTroll "I'm talking about the whole front end, noticed especially in the headlights."
What, it's got 4 of them?...Like most cars now. I told you, the chrysler 300 now is based on the old 57. Look at the similarities, and reading the articles when it was in concept stage says the same thing.
@YouFreakinTroll What Bentley? If you're talking about the front end styling with the big grill, that is actually based on the old classic 57 Chrysler 300 not a Bentley like everyone believes. Which makes more sense as the 57 300 was a 50's muscle car, and the new 300 is muscle car themed saloon car. So it's got large wheels, and low roof line.........but then again, so do alot of other cars.
@v8cool1 I googled the MPG for both cars and many sites said they both did about 20-21 MPG. But they aren't deisel hatchback, do who cares about MPG for these cars?
@v8cool1 Where are you from? If not from the US, Have you ever owned or driven an American car? If so, which ones? And I see you comment on a lot of videos like this one, Why do you defend them so much? I don't think I have ever come across a non-hillbilly who doen't agree that on the whole the US make the worst cars in the world.
@v8cool1 You can change the settings of the suspension and gear change roughness through the I-drive. The run flat tyres do not help it's case though. And it is like these new mobile phones. Until you work out how to use it and figure out what it all does, it is a bit annoying. But once you have figured it out it becomes something you love.
@RoflzLoler Live with an M5 and a 300c for a year or drive them on the a proper track like the Nurbergring and you will see where the £30,000 has gone. America doesn't have the right idea. Cheaply built, terrible driving and ancient technology isn't good.
Well, they do actually. Look the CTS-V... Larger simple dsplcmnt, means it keeps the Revs low too please the US emission brigade and still being able to maintain 550 hp, as well as it enables them to give the public a track hugging, 190+mph fully loaded saloon car for less than £100k and still maintian a better MPG than say...the 5.0litre M5 V10 which didn't live up to the emission standards like the CTS-V did.
@v8cool1 You don't buy CTS-Vs and M5s for their emissions and MPG.
Don't the US still make a lot of cars with live rear axles and ladder chassis? Europe and Asia use modern technology to make things better. I agree a lot of the time that less is more with track cars (I am a big lotus fan) but not when it comes to normal everyday cars and especially those that can also blitz the tracks. If I have the choice to own either an M5 or CTS-V, I would choose the M5 with out hesitation.
@tomwils92 "You don't buy CTS-Vs and M5s for their emissions and MPG."
I know. My point was that the High tech V10 didn't really pose anymore advantage over the basic V8 of the CTS-V. It's performance was roughly the same except for the topspeed which can't be reached very often anyway. So it's really down to emissions, MPG, etc, and even then, it wasn't as good as the CTS-V. So what was all the techs for in the v10 when pretty much the same thing can be done with less?
@tomwils92 "Don't the US still make a lot of cars with live rear axles and ladder chassis?"
No. Only the mustang has a live axle. But even so, it works well. Watch the M3 v 2011 Mustang video on youtube. It handles great. It's been worked on to achive something good. As for ladder frames. No US cars use them now, only in some pick up trucks.
@tomwils92 Nothing wrong with the simple 'ancient' US technology. Europe just over complicates everything. Over complicated solutions to a simple challenge, and then use it too boast about their achievements and infinate bank balance and wow'ing people with numbers and figures, and use that as an excuse to charge daft amounts of money in everyway. When really, the same can be achieved with less....which is more impressive to be honest.
Jeremy Clarkson's videos are rubbish. He continues to make apples to oranges comparisons. Who in thier right mind would think a Chrysler 300 would be a match for a M5? Only an idiot would make that comparism. The M5 probably costs 3X more thatn the Chrysler and you have to be on a personal relationship with your own BMW mechanic to keep it tuned. And most people aren't going to drive Mountain Switchbacks at 3X the posted speed. It's a good way to lose your driver's license or possibly your life.
@audavid Where do you live? I see more 300's on the street in the UK than M5's. Having said that, the M5 blends so much into the background, I probably wouldn't know if one did pass me.
I agree you can take clarksons advice when he talks about specs and its a good tv program. but he is so bias that anyone that believes everything he says is an idiot. any English car he reviews is always amazing and perfect even if it is a pile of crap. and all american cars are crap, unless they are absolutely incredible. but regardless of biasm American car definitely arent made for handling lol
@v8cool1 the block is from a dodge though pretty much every other part on it is custom made in house by Bristol, goes to show what is possible with a V10 and only 2 turbo's and one radiator unlike the 4 turbo's and 10 radiators of the Veyron.
Dont get me wrong there are some American cars I love such as the Original Charger,Challenger,Mustang and GTO but since then the American offerings just seemed mediocre and felt like they could have been better.
@jameslrbrand2002uk Well, glad we agree on one thing. I'm not a masive fan of Germna cars either .Over rated, over priced, when really they're actually quite boring.
They spend more time showing off what they can do with their infinate bank balance and availible technologies and then sticking a huge price tag on it to help pay for that showing off , when really what they goal they've achieved can be done with less techs, for less money.
i am talking on standard engine without turbo or supercharge and in any comparision you must compare between the cars that have the same class the same model for example super sport with super sport luxury with luxury and without any modification on engine even from the manufacturer and should be made in a company motor sport i mean the sector built for sport cars then you will find the german and italian cars the best !
@v8cool1 Morgans have always been made of wood. It's ash to be precise, and it's sort of their thing, and there's a very good reason they haven't changed it since 1936. But there are better materials now than those currently used on the Corvettes.
@cliffordis "Morgans have always been made of wood. It's ash to be precise, and it's sort of their thing, and there's a very good reason they haven't changed it since 1936."
Same can be said for the corvette. They've not changed the fibreglass shell for a reason since 1953, but euro car fans bash it for being made of 'plastic' yet europe is now looking more towards plastic body shells becuase they see the advantage. The new Mclaren for starters.
I agree - why not compare a European car for the same price? Or lets compare the BMW to say, a Lamborghini and say german cars are crap compared to italian ones?
lol why the fuck do all the europeeing people bitchin about american vehicles??? wtf did they do to you nothing.... we dont bitch about your vehicles... its not the americans fault that vehicles are cheaper than europeen vehicles sorry that america doesnt make 50,000 on each vehicles...
@denny099999999 Because euro car fans are snobby and know little about american cars and just listen to old fashioned 30 year old perceptions about them, or just listen to clarkson. They think it's trendy to follow him.Or they bash american cars for cheap materials like the corvette being made out of'plastic' but forget that europe has more plastic bodied cars than the US. Europe even once made a car out of cotton, and the new Morgan is made of wood. But for some reason thats OK
@v8cool1 yes they bash all the American cars but any euro car in the same price range of the zr1 would most defiantly lose. both euro and American vehicles are nice in their own ways. but of course the Europeans gotta bitch about everything and point out obvious things.
@denny099999999 Exactly. I mean here in the UK the M5 was £110k and that was in 2005. The ZR1 in the UK is £99k, and is quicker and still has a nicely fully loaded cabin, and looks better. They're cheaper because they don't have so much wasted technology in the engines which have to keep being upgraded every few years to comply with ever shifting emission regulations. Thats one of the good things about the simple vette engine. It just keeps going and passing the standards..
@v8cool1 Thats because we can get 400bhp out of a 2.0ltr 4cylinder engine and you yanks can only get 420ish bhp from a 6.1 litre V8 thats pathetic utterly pathetic, and at least our cars can go round a corner at 70mph without smoke pouring from the rear wheels and why oh why do you use live rear axles and leaf springs on cars with 400bhp plus its just stupid. the reason your cars are so cheap is because they're are cheap and poor quality only good at going in straight lines
@jameslrbrand2002uk To your comment I respond, LSX 454R a crate motor that produces 720bhp on a single 4bbl carb. and I can buy the parts at autozone.
"420ish bhp from a 6.1 litre V8 " So what about the 630+bhp ZR1 from a 6.1 V8? Or 555bhp from a 5.0L Mustang V8.
"oh why do you use live rear axles and leaf springs on cars with 400bhp "
Firstly, they don't. Only the mustang and corvette uses those, and secondly , why not? They been developed into something that works well. The vette laps Nurburgring better than alot of euro cars on it's leafspring..
@v8cool1 actually the 5ltr mustang engine only puts out 450bhp and thats with a supercharger and as for the ZR1 with its 630bhp thats still pathetic as we brits can get that from a 4ltr V8 in short your engine building skills are like the USA as a whole Laaaaazy.
But of course this is the country who likes to think that taking a 1930's AC ace then putting a american V8 in it and and calling it the AC Cobra makes it an american invention yeah right .
It's about cost. The US public don't wanna pay a fortune for domestic badged cars. Affordability is in Mustang heritage. They want high HP at a decent price and they can't charge an affordable price with euro car over engineering. Look how much you have to pay for a 450+ bhp euro car. Dam sight more than an american car.
You don't seem to understand the different markets.
@jameslrbrand2002uk "630bhp thats still pathetic as we brits can get that from a 4ltr V8 "
So 615 hp from a 6.0l V12 Bi Turbo Merc is pathetic too??
Look at the veryon too. 1001hp from a 16 cylinder 8 Litre quad turbo. The US got more than that from 6.2 twin turbo V8. Is the veyron pathetic?
The US favours larger simple disclpament with S/C for HP instead of using finely tuned higfh HP small displacement engines to suit US emission regulations..
@v8cool1 as for the veyron I actually agree its HP is pathetic for what it is but thats germany for you I dont like german cars as i find them very bland Besides If I had to pick a car it would either be an Eleanor mustang or a Bristol Fighter T
The top end model comes with 1012HP from a V10 turbo and costs about a third of the price of a veyron
@jameslrbrand2002uk "calling it the AC Cobra makes it an american invention yeah right "
The AC cobra as an idea is an american invention. It was the US that approached and came up with the idea, and uses an american engine.
I understand you're obviously anti american, and I don't blame you , it's a trendy thing for narrow minded people to be, but at least get some understanding of different markets. Smaller displacement, high H/P isn't always better.
@v8cool1 its not an invention as its a modification of an existing design now on the other hand the mustang is an invention, otherwise i could say i invented a new car by getting a European ford mondeo and putting a V8 in it
@jameslrbrand2002uk The computer mouse, mp3 player, smartphone and tablet computer weren't invented by Apple. However, everyone credits Apple with inventing those products b/c they marketed them and made them accessible to the world. The same principle applies to the AC Cobra--the Americans took an existing product and created the iconic racing car that everyone recognizes today.
@jameslrbrand2002uk "because they're are cheap and poor quality only good at going in straight lines "
Only good at going in straight lines. How are the 70's for you? ..forward in time too 2011,american cars do cornering very well. Cars like the Taurus, Buick LaCross, use AWD etc, and alot of GM cars use Magneride suspenuison like on the R8.
They're cheaper because they don't pack their cars with over engineered crap. The US public don't want or need it.
@jameslrbrand2002uk Get some updated information before you start bashing. If your getting this info off this video then more fool you. This is an old video now, and times have changed, and most people that don't live in clarkson island can actually drive a 420hp US car at 70mph round a bend WITHOUT burning rubber. I should know, I used to drive one of these at least once a week. The driving you see here is just totally eratic for entertainment
@lupischuckle ok... i'm pretty sure the chrysler 300c str8 is at the bottem of the muscle class.. stock civics almost beat it... its got 400 hp yes but weighs 4000 lbs.. look at the corvette zr1..
I'm not a Mustang fan, but take the new Mustang GT vs. any other car (in the world!) at the same price and the Mustang will win. More bang for your buck. Welcome to America, bro.
He should compare the 300c against a European car of the same price. I live in UK btw. I love German cars (and high end Brit ones like Aston Martin and Jaguar), but I do acknowledge that US cars are far better value for money! For the price an American would buy a CTS or 300c or F150, a European would get a shitty hatchback with cramped tacky interior and rubbish engine (e.g. Citroen/Peugeot hatchback!). Clarkson is a brilliant TV host, but I hate it when he unfairly criticises American cars.
@avidutubeuser007 correct hes only pointing out that the cheaper american cars... how about do a corvette zr1 against the m5 and then try to say the bmw has anything better besides the interior... there are tons of vehicles that are cheap in the uk just like everywhere else.. its only what goes into the vehicles that make it cheap.. chrysler isnt gonna charge an extra 20,000 just cause someone feels it should be in that range.. they're gonna charge what seems fair
I have an idea: lets compare a flood-damaged 1998 Chrysler Sebring to a 2011 Mercedes S65 AMG and declare European cars superior to American cars!
That will allow us to avoid the inevitable realization that the Americans can sell you a 400 hp V8 for the price of a sandwich, while Europe will struggle to sell you a FWD supermini for that price.
@trytthisnow It's called hyperbole: exaggeration for dramatic effect. Anyone with a functional brain will admit how unfair it is to compare a $40K American saloon to a $80K German super-saloon. Even the best burger will be shit next to filet mignon.
Instead, Clarkson should compare the 300C to a similarly-priced BMW 5-series; that gives him the chance to compare the powerful Chrysler against the slower, but better-appointed 5-series. That's called consumer advice.
@dcukic Which is more important: the number of traction control settings in an overpriced FWD hatchback, or the fact that a less expensive Ford Mustang will beat a BMW M3 around Laguna Seca?
Typical British way of thinking: "I can't afford petrol, and can't afford the road tax, but at least my 62 hp diesel hatchback has an overpriced, yet well-appointed interior."
@marshknute do you understand that US cars are a bit more expensive here in EU? and i will never buy american car because they arent fuel efficient and they are crap inside. and you can keep your mustang that can beaat bmw round the track but it will fall apart doing it ill get my a4 and enjoy good interior good fuel economy and driving comfort. and it will give me more pleasure then your v8 6 liter mustang
@dcukic I find it hilarious when ignorant people such as yourself still live in the 70's. 6 liter Mustang? Try 5.0 liters and 415 hp for the same price as BMW's cheapest 3-series coupe (3.0 liter 230 hp). Falls apart on the track? The Mustang has better reliability ratings than any 3-series, C-class or A4 (not saying much as the German Big 3 are in the 40th percentile or worse for reliability according to Consumer Reports).
@marshknute wow! 451HP out of 5.0 engine?? rly? the best you can? how about 420 out of 4.0 in BMW m3 or 444out of 4.2 in audi rs5.(naturally aspirated) and i can see some pattern in your american propaganda gainst foreign carmakers... if you dont, google it up
and mate im an mechanical engineer specialized in thermodynamics. trust me i know a lot about internal combustion engines and every part of it
@dcukic wow! 451HP out of 5.0 engine?? Name one European car that can do better for the price of a Mustang GT. There isn't a single example. The Europeans need 16 cylinders, 8.4 liters, 4 turbochargers and $1.6 million to make 1000 hp engine. We americans made 1000 hp with just 6.2 liters and half the cylinders/turbos/price. In order for Europe to beat an American performance car, they need twice the money and 7 times the brainwashing.
@marshknute wow, true american to the bone... can you read? read this out loud pls so it sinks in your brain: AMERICAN CARS ARE EXPENSIVE IN EUROPE. and pls dont compare veyron with ssc, veyron doesnt bark like dog when you switch gears and it doesnt shake like hell when you drive it and its more comfortable, better looking, better interior. and it can be used as a normal road car and not only on track.
@dcukic You just lost all credibility when you called the Veyron a normal road car. It is impossible to drive on the road (too wide, no visibility, low to the ground, etc) and sure as hell doesn't have $800K more luxury than the SSC. It's just another example of Europe over-thinking an uncomplicated solution. The Viper ACR is faster around the Nurburgring than the GT2 RS, despite being heavier, less powerful and less technologically advanced.
@dcukic While the Europeans think performance requires AWD and 9-setting traction control systems, the Americans can make a fast car thanks to simple torque and grip. As your beloved Clarkson once said, "I can fix this...just give me a hammer."
@marshknute you used US cars and grip in same sentence. you are so funny. one of ssc directors said they are building totally different car from veyron and yes everyone can drive veyron and use it every day(thats what folks from bugatty say). hows this for math... 1000 hp 1.8 ton and ssc half as much. and they do the same top speed? :) and if i remember well only 2 american cars are in top ten on nurnburgring and 7 European cars.
@dcukic Do you know anything about American cars? The Mustang Boss pulls 1.01g on the skidpad (more than a Ferrari 458 Italia: 1.00g). The base V6 Mustang pulls .97g (the same as a 997 Carrera). As for the NR, it's pretty impressive, isn't it? America only makes two supercars, and they hold spots 1, 3, 4 and 5 (after you eliminate the fake cars that don't meet US safety/emissions standards). You're a dumbass who thinks it's 1975. Welcome to 2011!
@marshknute stop comparing tuned cars with standard ones standard 458 1.00 g standard mustang0.64g. and check your info on NR again. welcome in 2011 you patriotic retard
@dcukic What Mustang pulls .64g? Motor Trend Magazine tests every car on a flat proving ground located in a desert (all cars have heat in the tires and no wind). The 2011 V6 pulled 0.97g, while the Boss 302 pulls 1.01g. The Boss 302 is NOT a tuned car. It is build in-house by Ford and purchased in a Ford dealership. You're thinking of Shelby. As for my NR times, they are accurate as of October 2011 (for US legal cars--excluding fake cars like the Radical and Donkervoort).
@dcukic Excuse me, the V6 Mustang pulls 0.96 g. Type: "First Test: 2011 Ford Mustang V6" into the search bar. Pease don't comment anymore, you're ignorance is showing.
@dcukic The Boss IS NOT like AMG. Ford doesn't have an in-house aftermarket tuning company. The same engineers who designed the V6 and V8 models designed the Boss. The Mustang lineup is just like the Porsche 911 lineup: Mustang V6 = Carerra (smallest engine), Mustang GT = Carerra S (more powerful engine), Boss = GT3 (more powerful engine, lighter weight, huge spoiler/splitter, go-faster stickers).
@dcukic As for the NR times, I simply can't count the times of the Radical and Donkervoort. They aren't sold here in America, don't meet crash test standards and don't meet emissions standards. The fastest US-legal road car is the Viper ACR, followed by the GT2 RS, followed by the Corvette ZR-1. You'd have to use the term "car" extremely loosely to call the radical a car. I'm not arbitrarily eliminating those cars, I'm only counting cars which meet the rules and regulations where I live.
@dcukic Feel free to count the lap times of the Radical, Donkervoort and Gumpert (I admit, I probably would, too, if I lived in Europe). Even so, the only two American supercars are still in the top 10. Not bad for a country with no supercar companies. The Corvette and Viper are nothing more than side-efforts made possible by the success of mainstream cars. Ferrari and Lamborghini make nothing but supercars, but aren't even in the top 15.
@marshknute ive come to conclusion we dont agree on anyting. so i bid you good night.. or day in U.S and enjoy your U.S cars. ill enjoy in my european ones
@dcukic As for the SSC vs Bugatti, lets look at the facts: The standard Veyron only beats the SSC to 60 thanks to its AWD system. The lighter SSC is faster to 100, 200 and 250 mph and is faster period at 256 mph. You could pay an additional $500K for the SuperSport version, but you'd be holding your breath until the SSC Tuatara is tested.
"Name one European car that can do better for the price of a Mustang GT. There isn't a single example."
The RS3 2.5L 340HP, and it's cheaper. Europe means common sense and practicality. America.... search for "Americans are NOT stupid - WITH SUBTITLES", reading your tripe here I bet you are one of the inbred on that video. Silly fat cunt, if only you could afford European car you might not have been such a ignorant fat cunt? Or is it a cultural thing?
@doldrums88 Are you retarded? I said CHEAPER. The RS3 costs 39,930 British pounds (62,318 dollars!), while the Mustang GT costs $29,710 (19,036 British pounds). Your Audi hatchback costs TWICE as much as the Mustang.
Are you Europeans genuinely stupid, or did your school systems fail to teach you how to do research? As for your "inbred" comment, does "inbred" mean Business and Economics major at Harvard University? If so, you're right on the money.
@hamzah510 Wrong again. I just checked UK import prices for the 2012 Ford Mustang: kc-imports is offering the cheapest V6 Mustang for £18,866 and the V8 version for £22,735.
Don't you dare suggest that the new Mustangs don't handle well. The Mustang GT matched the BMW M3 around MotorTrend's handling circuit and beat the M3 around Laguna Seca. The Boss Mustang, on the other hand, beat the Audi R8 around Laguna Seca, and recorded 1.01g skidpad (compared to the 458 Italia's 1.00g).
@marshknute both being specially tuned versions of the car, a victory of .01g isn't so impressive especially considering the fact that both the r8 and the 458 beat it in every other way.
@hamzah510 The Boss 302 is not a specially tuned version of the Mustang. It is designed by the same engineers who make the standard V6 model. Think of it in the same way you would a Porsche GT3 RS: still part of the 911 range, but designed in-house as a track-focused model. Sure the R8 and 458 look better, but the Boss 302 lapped Laguna Seca faster than the R8. It just goes to show what a well-sorted chassis, good tires and clever engine can do--no fancy technology needed (like the GT3 RS).
The Shelby GT 500 costs from €70k to €80k in Europe, I'd have the RS500 Focus over anything made by Ford US, the cheapest Mustang in US is the coupe 3.7 v6 $22k - this fat bastard will get owned by the clio rs cup 200, the base price for the Shelby GT 500 is $50k in US, what you on about you soppy fat cunt. And the Charger winning best interior award car, were its competitors the autobianchi, wartburg & trabant? Do one you fat cunt
@doldrums88 I guarantee the V6 Mustang would destroy the Clio. The V6 pulls .96g (same as a 997 Carrera) according to MotorTrend's testing. The Shelby GT500 is the most expensive Mustang in the US. The Mustang GT (with the new 5.0 V8--the one that matched the M3) starts at $29,710 according to Ford's website. The Boss 302 starts at $40,310. The 2011 Charger (not the old Charger) was reviewed by Kelly Blue Book and compared to all other "full-sized sedans" in its price bracket.
You are throwing prices right, left and centre without making any sense you ridiculous greasy fat cunt. The ShelbyGT 500 costs around 70 to 80 thousand € and the RS3 is a cheaper, better car - which was the initial point, the v6 3.7 M is an awful metal box made by a bunch of fat inbreds in michigan, while the Clio Rs is a proper little street racing car, allow Europe's hot-hatches and Ford will bite the dust like many other useless yank car manufacturers did
@doldrums88 How can you say anything about the 2011 Mustangs? Have you been in one? Have you driven one? I clubspec race my Miata with the New Jersey Porsche Club. The V6 Mustangs hold off Boxsters, while the V8 Mustangs hold off Carrera S's. I noticed that you only name cars that aren't sold in the US (RS3, Clio), and therefore have never set lap times around the same tracks as the new Mustangs. If you don't have numbers to back up your performance claims, don't make them.
@doldrums88 The Mustang GT (which has proven to be equally as fast as the BMW M3 around Laguna Seca) sells for €35,751. The RS3 is €47,768 while the M3 sells for €65,426. Are you going to tell me that the M3 has 30K more luxury? If you sit in a new Mustang, you'll be forced to concede that the BMW is just a bunch of over-complicated badge snobbery that can be matched by a "fat yank-tank."
@doldrums88 Unlike you, I don't make up facts. I check every number before I post it. Did you bother to check the kc-imports website? It maps out the cost of the car, import costs, import duties, road tax, reg and UK plates. I don't know how to spell it out more clearly for you.
I realize that you are borderline retarded, but please use your internet connection to find some facts before you post mindless bullshit. You're just another blindly ignorant Euro fanboy.
What facts, you don't make sense at all, you loon. On that UK site you provided they offer 2011GT convertible for 37k pounds, €44k which is $58k, the base price for it in USA is around $35k to $38k, for €44k you'll get a Shelby gt500 in US. Europe - common sense and practicality. USA - fat, useless, ignorant cunts.
@doldrums88 I realize you are trying to win by choosing the most expensive Mustang that has been given to an aftermarket manufacturer in order to make them look expensive. The Shelby GT500 coupe actually sells for €61,376 and that gives you 135 more hp than the still more expensive M3. And don't you dare suggest that the RS3 could hold its own against the Shelby. It would be destroyed by the first straight, and the Shelby's 0.96g skidpad grip will keep it in the lead at the first corner.
God, you're a dull cunt, I write shit comments but you're an absolute homo. "I realize you are trying to win by choosing the most expensive Mustang", trying to win what you tulip? I responded to one of your delusional comments you made. RS3>GT500, 2.5l 340hp, cheaper, faster and more reliable than the gt500. Just have a look at the rs3 on ice vid and when the fat Michigan bastard can do that come back to me.
@doldrums88 I can simplify the whole situation easily: In the States, there isn't a single European car that can compete b/c they are all too expensive. In Europe, the American cars are still cheaper and faster (according to that website and pound-->euro conversions), but Europeans are too ignorant and close-minded to give them a chance. They would rather drive around in FWD French hatchbacks (except for the majority who can't afford petrol and drive 62 hp diesels).
Last I checked European brands are topping all car racing championships, while the Americans are nowhere to be seen? You can buy American cars in Europe but if people don't like them there must be reasons. The Megane RS Trophy is an art of a car, a thick yank driving Toyota was it? dissing Europe's hot-hatches is a bit rich. The day you allow our hot-hatches in USA is the day Ford will shut down.
@doldrums88 If by Toyota, you mean Mazda, then you are correct. Miata's are the vehicle of choice for clubsport racers because they are cheap to buy and repair. If you read all my previous comments, you would know that I recently sold a 2004 Audi A4 3.0L V6 6-Speed manual. It was a good car, but it was very unreliable (Audi is in the 30th percentile for reliability in the States). The newest American cars are very good, the old ones (pre-2009) were shit.
Funny thing is, fat boy, I knew the prices of the Mustangs from a yank living here in the Netherlands. He's got FocusRS and in his own words he won't change it for any Mustang. And if you really think it's impossible to drive fast and powerful cars in Europe, you must not be from this planet. All that ranting and you drive a poxy Mazda.
@doldrums88 Do you know what the Miata is? Fifth Gear, Top Gear, MotorTrend, CarandDriver, Automobile and CarBuyer described it as one of the best driver's cars ever built. Once more, if you were familiar with Miata's, you would know that a fat person can't fit in them. My 5'7" 135lb body fits easily.
@doldrums88 As you already know, I am using UK import prices and converting that number into Euros. The prices will obviously be different across Europe. As for this video, you'll notice that the old Mustang (an admittedly terrible performance car) lost to the Exige. The new Mustangs share nothing in common to the one in this video other than the badge. As for the Viper, just look at how poorly it was driven, while the Stig made zero mistakes in the BMW. The Viper is #1 around the Nurburgring.
The track was in America well known by the American driver and what a surprise the massive 12L 26090hp Viper couldn't cope with the s54b32 engine fitted in a z4. Once again you are proven wrong - a cheaper, smaller, European car embarrassing the American muscle car. Cars in UK are cheapest on the continent trouble is insuring, if you learn to do right to left hand drive conversion you can make a fortune in no time by buying and reselling cars from England.
@doldrums88 The driver may have been familiar with the track, but he sure as hell wasn't familiar with the car, as evidence by the understeer. The Viper is the fastest US-legal car around the Nurburgring. Unlike you, I have years of track racing under my belt. I experience understeer, oversteer, trail braking, etc every weekend. I can say from an educated perspective that the Viper was driven like shit in this video, and it's NR time proves how much potential it has when driven correctly.
The viper is well known for it understeering issues as well as the mustang the sole reason they couldnt beat a 1.8l lotus exige and the z4. You are typical deluded yank living in his own little world.
@doldrums88 Neither diesel nor petrol nor hybrid is the solution to depleting fuel resources. Hydrogen fuel cells are the answer: we have the technology and budding infrastructure already here in the states. We are simply waiting for liquid Hydrogen to become cheaper to produce/store. Once gas becomes too expensive here in the states, we will swap for hydrogen fuel cells--no need to move to diesel. You wouldn't know that b/c you are to busy buying diesel for your minicab.
@doldrums88 You drive a diesel MPV and have never had any performance driving training and claim to know about driving dynamics? Hahahaha!!!!! Are Europeans mating with vegetables now? You are only choosing hot hatches that aren't sold in the States, and have therefore never set lap times on the same tracks as the new Mustangs. It's hard to prove something with zero evidence, isn't it? Please respond once you give me some official lap times for both the Stang and hatches on the same track.
@doldrums88 Hatchbacks in general sell poorly in the States. We only buy them when we can't afford anything else. Every pizza place buys a honda hatchback as a delivery car. Fiat miserably failed to sell their target number of 500's. Mercedes will soon axe the Smart brand b/c we only buy them to advertise businesses by putting business logos on the side. Mini is the only hatch that has sold reasonably well, and it is chiefly purchased as a rental car at airports.
@doldrums88 You can pretend to know everything and convince yourself that Americans will buy hot hatchbacks, when the nation has already proved that we will not. There is simply no need for them here in the States, and we prefer to spend our money on purpose-built sports cars (not economy cars modified to go faster). You can be delusional about the performance figures of the new Mustangs, but that just means we will smoke you hatch-driving Europeans on and off the track.
So if the Mini has a decent sale rate what makes you think the much better hothatches won't sell in the US? As a matter of fact there are loads of petitions going on atm in USA to bring the hothatches over there.
@doldrums88 As I said, rental companies purchase the Mini b/c it is a cheap convertible. They don't buy the S version. The JCW has sold terribly here in the States b/c it is nothing more than a 208 hp FWD hatchback that costs more than a 415 hp Mustang GT. Hot hatches like the Golf R32 (now the Golf R) are nothing more than overpriced and relatively slow cars purchased by brand-enthusiasts.
Chick magnet? It even keeps the joyriders away fortunately but still carry 3 of us to work every morning and you can fit 150kg of working gear in it without being worried about petrol bills, we legalized the weed before the bible came out and ive been allowed in pubs & clubs since i was 15, we dont buy our fruits from mcdonalds, watch jersey shore, listen to justin bieber and get excited by our fat sisters and ugly flashy plastic cars u greasy little yank
@doldrums88 "We legalized the weed...greasy little yank." Do you mind if I use that sentence of yours? I knew there were ignorant Europeans, but that statement sums it up all too perfectly.
As for old American cars being shit, I made it pretty clear that the vast majority of pre-2009 American cars were shit. Since the bailout, they were forced to up their game, and they have. Just read any review of a new American car.
You still haven't acknowledge the Viper NR times. Hurts, doesn't it?
How would you know anything about Europe when you think it's impossible to drive powerful cars here?
Why should it hurt you loon? I've already acknowledged a good yank car like the ctsv, the one having problems with reality is you, the greasy 5'7 little yank chauvinist with the MAZDA.
@doldrums88 As I said before (read more carefully next time), Muscle cars don't work in Europe b/c they are dimensionally large and have thirsty V8's. Since many European roads are narrow and fuel prices are more expensive in Europe, muscle cars are economically unfeasible. Sure you could drive them, but they are poor daily drivers. While hatchbacks do fit on our roads, they are too expensive relative to muscle cars, and are less practical than SUV's. Different markets, different cars.
@marshknute "Muscle cars don't work in Europe b/c they are dimensionally large and have thirsty V8's. Since many European roads are narrow and fuel prices are more expensive"
They do work. It's like anycar,. if you can afford to run them, then buy them. If they're to big to drive, then again, don't drive them where you're gonna get stuck. It's like a supercar, you'd never take one down a road that has massive speed bumps.
@marshknute I owned a 77 newyorker hewe in the UK. Did it work on our roads? To me it did. It didn't use it as a daily driver,so I could afford to run it when needed (shows etc) and I never took it down a road that was too narrow. So yes, it did work.
We do have muscle cars - loads of them, u in America prefer them to your very own muscle cars, only use yank cars as an alternative if u cant afford European. If u prefer a v6 mustang to a straight 5 hothatch(example) I'd say fair enough but until u get our hothatches u cant make such comparisons.
@doldrums88 As I already said, we DO HAVE HOT HATCHBACKS HERE IN THE STATES. Americans have chosen to buy faster and better value cars.
Here's the top comment on Road and Tracks review of the Golf R: "Love this Golf R and I laud VW for bringing it state side. Sadly... for that price, you can get a number of cars with twice the performance and reliability. I know they aren't hatchbacks, but just to name a few 370z, Stang GT, Camaro SS. This Golf R will flop in sales."
@doldrums88 While American cars are more expensive in Europe, it still doesn't change the fact that no European manufacturer can hope to compete here on American soil. The new Mustangs have class-leading interiors according to KBB, and offer performance to beat European cars costing twice as much. While they may be financially unfeasible in Europe, they are no-brainers here in the States. Even the Japanese can't compete: the 370Z costs more than a base Mustang GT.
"no European manufacturer can hope to compete here on American soil"
Despite the fact chinks can ship u a cardboard box with ball-bearings for wheels and u'll buy it, & our cars r not purpously built for USA, EUR car makers done great in USA, & we play with restrictions on ur market. For the price of zr1 u can get r8 in usa, for the price of ctsv - c63 & so on, so ur argument bout us cars bein much cheaper torn to pieces again.
@doldrums88 You do realize that the ZR1 is faster than any R8? Even the top-spec R8 GT is slower. The C63 is nowhere near as fast as the CTS-V and nowhere near as spacious. There is no European car that is faster than a similarly-priced American car on the American market. Period. Euro manufacturers are too busy building "high-tech" cars with twin-scroll turbos and DSG gearboxes, only to have them beaten by a V6 Mustang with a manual transmission that costs $20,000 less.
RoflzLoler 6 hours ago
@RoflzLoler I'm talking about the whole front end, noticed especially in the headlights. The body shape is obviously copied from the continental. Chrysler simply changed the roof and put disgusting rims on it. Why add 10-15 grand worth of aftermarket modifications onto the Chrysler? You could get an M3 instead. The Chrysler's V8 is nothing special.
YouFreakinTroll 5 hours ago

@tomwils92 "All that technology makes the car comfortable "
I don't know if that worked though. One of the biggest complaints from customers was the hard ride, rough gear change, and irritating I-drive.
Although by the sound of it, the new M5 isn't going down as well with the fans.
v8cool1 1 day ago
@v8cool1 You can change the settings of the suspension and gear change roughness through the I-drive. The run flat tyres do not help it's case though. And it is like these new mobile phones. Until you work out how to use it and figure out what it all does, it is a bit annoying. But once you have figured it out it becomes something you love.

tomwils92 3 days ago
@tomwils92 "America doesn't have the right idea"
Well, they do actually. Look the CTS-V... Larger simple dsplcmnt, means it keeps the Revs low too please the US emission brigade and still being able to maintain 550 hp, as well as it enables them to give the public a track hugging, 190+mph fully loaded saloon car for less than £100k and still maintian a better MPG than say...the 5.0litre M5 V10 which didn't live up to the emission standards like the CTS-V did.
v8cool1 2 days ago in playlist Favorite videos
@v8cool1 You don't buy CTS-Vs and M5s for their emissions and MPG.
Don't the US still make a lot of cars with live rear axles and ladder chassis? Europe and Asia use modern technology to make things better. I agree a lot of the time that less is more with track cars (I am a big lotus fan) but not when it comes to normal everyday cars and especially those that can also blitz the tracks. If I have the choice to own either an M5 or CTS-V, I would choose the M5 with out hesitation.
tomwils92 2 days ago
@tomwils92 "You don't buy CTS-Vs and M5s for their emissions and MPG."
I know. My point was that the High tech V10 didn't really pose anymore advantage over the basic V8 of the CTS-V. It's performance was roughly the same except for the topspeed which can't be reached very often anyway. So it's really down to emissions, MPG, etc, and even then, it wasn't as good as the CTS-V. So what was all the techs for in the v10 when pretty much the same thing can be done with less?
v8cool1 2 days ago
@tomwils92 "Don't the US still make a lot of cars with live rear axles and ladder chassis?"
No. Only the mustang has a live axle. But even so, it works well. Watch the M3 v 2011 Mustang video on youtube. It handles great. It's been worked on to achive something good. As for ladder frames. No US cars use them now, only in some pick up trucks.
v8cool1 2 days ago
@tomwils92 Nothing wrong with the simple 'ancient' US technology. Europe just over complicates everything. Over complicated solutions to a simple challenge, and then use it too boast about their achievements and infinate bank balance and wow'ing people with numbers and figures, and use that as an excuse to charge daft amounts of money in everyway. When really, the same can be achieved with less....which is more impressive to be honest.

How does it feel?
You´re in a place that´s perfect when it comes to fit and material quality!
Take a look on the outside with perfect paintjob and bodygaps. Stuff like that costs!
Now the SRT-8!
Except for the seats that I actually like, cheap plastic and very poor attention to detail.
Same goes for the exterior Cheap, cheap, cheap.....!
But as Clarkson said, it´s half the price....

Same can be said for the corvette. They've not changed the fibreglass shell for a reason since 1953, but euro car fans bash it for being made of 'plastic' yet europe is now looking more towards plastic body shells becuase they see the advantage. The new Mclaren for starters.

But for some reason thats OK
v8cool1 1 month ago in playlist Favorite videos
@v8cool1 yes they bash all the American cars but any euro car in the same price range of the zr1 would most defiantly lose. both euro and American vehicles are nice in their own ways. but of course the Europeans gotta bitch about everything and point out obvious things.
denny099999999 1 month ago
@denny099999999 Exactly. I mean here in the UK the M5 was £110k and that was in 2005. The ZR1 in the UK is £99k, and is quicker and still has a nicely fully loaded cabin, and looks better. They're cheaper because they don't have so much wasted technology in the engines which have to keep being upgraded every few years to comply with ever shifting emission regulations. Thats one of the good things about the simple vette engine. It just keeps going and passing the standards..
v8cool1 1 month ago
@v8cool1 Thats because we can get 400bhp out of a 2.0ltr 4cylinder engine and you yanks can only get 420ish bhp from a 6.1 litre V8 thats pathetic utterly pathetic, and at least our cars can go round a corner at 70mph without smoke pouring from the rear wheels and why oh why do you use live rear axles and leaf springs on cars with 400bhp plus its just stupid. the reason your cars are so cheap is because they're are cheap and poor quality only good at going in straight lines

"oh why do you use live rear axles and leaf springs on cars with 400bhp "
Firstly, they don't. Only the mustang and corvette uses those, and secondly , why not? They been developed into something that works well. The vette laps Nurburgring better than alot of euro cars on it's leafspring..
v8cool1 1 month ago
@v8cool1 actually the 5ltr mustang engine only puts out 450bhp and thats with a supercharger and as for the ZR1 with its 630bhp thats still pathetic as we brits can get that from a 4ltr V8 in short your engine building skills are like the USA as a whole Laaaaazy.
But of course this is the country who likes to think that taking a 1930's AC ace then putting a american V8 in it and and calling it the AC Cobra makes it an american invention yeah right .
jameslrbrand2002uk 1 month ago
@jameslrbrand2002uk It's not laziness at all
It's about cost.

The AC cobra as an idea is an american invention. It was the US that approached and came up with the idea, and uses an american engine.
I understand you're obviously anti american, and I don't blame you , it's a trendy thing for narrow minded people to be, but at least get some understanding of different markets. Smaller displacement, high H/P isn't always better.
v8cool1 1 month ago
@v8cool1 its not an invention as its a modification of an existing design now on the other hand the mustang is an invention, otherwise i could say i invented a new car by getting a European ford mondeo and putting a V8 in it
jameslrbrand2002uk 1 month ago

@jameslrbrand2002uk If you've put a V8 in a Mondeo then re-badge it. You could call it your own make. Going back to what you said earlier....
"AC ace then putting a american V8 in it and and calling it the AC Cobra makes it an american invention yeah right ."
What about the Lotus Carlton?. It was basically a vauxhall modified by Lotus but was still sold by Lotus.
v8cool1 1 month ago

Clarkson is a brilliant TV host, but I hate it when he unfairly criticises American cars.
avidutubeuser007 1 month ago
@avidutubeuser007 would be even greater if in europe we could pay US cars at the same price they are sold in the USA.
magnum172 1 month ago
@avidutubeuser007 correct hes only pointing out that the cheaper american cars... how about do a corvette zr1 against the m5 and then try to say the bmw has anything better besides the interior... there are tons of vehicles that are cheap in the uk just like everywhere else.. its only what goes into the vehicles that make it cheap.. chrysler isnt gonna charge an extra 20,000 just cause someone feels it should be in that range.. they're gonna charge what seems fair
denny099999999 1 month ago
why don't they compare it to the m5's real american competition, the cts-v
supervette2000 1 month ago
I have an idea: lets compare a flood-damaged 1998 Chrysler Sebring to a 2011 Mercedes S65 AMG and declare European cars superior to American cars!
That will allow us to avoid the inevitable realization that the Americans can sell you a 400 hp V8 for the price of a sandwich, while Europe will struggle to sell you a FWD supermini for that price.

@marshknute i dont get how your comment relates to this video, both are the same year cars and brand new..
trytthisnow 1 month ago
@trytthisnow It's called hyperbole: exaggeration for dramatic effect. Anyone with a functional brain will admit how unfair it is to compare a $40K American saloon to a $80K German super-saloon. Even the best burger will be shit next to filet mignon.
Instead, Clarkson should compare the 300C to a similarly-priced BMW 5-series; that gives him the chance to compare the powerful Chrysler against the slower, but better-appointed 5-series. That's called consumer advice.
marshknute 1 month ago
@marshknute yeah, 400hp v8 is all that is important in a car.
typically American way of thinking
dcukic 1 month ago
@dcukic Which is more important: the number of traction control settings in an overpriced FWD hatchback, or the fact that a less expensive Ford Mustang will beat a BMW M3 around Laguna Seca?
Typical British way of thinking: "I can't afford petrol, and can't afford the road tax, but at least my 62 hp diesel hatchback has an overpriced, yet well-appointed interior."
marshknute 1 month ago
@marshknute do you understand that US cars are a bit more expensive here in EU? and i will never buy american car because they arent fuel efficient and they are crap inside. and you can keep your mustang that can beaat bmw round the track but it will fall apart doing it ill get my a4 and enjoy good interior good fuel economy and driving comfort. and it will give me more pleasure then your v8 6 liter mustang
dcukic 1 month ago
@dcukic I find it hilarious when ignorant people such as yourself still live in the 70's. 6 liter Mustang? Try 5.0 liters and 415 hp for the same price as BMW's cheapest 3-series coupe (3.0 liter 230 hp). Falls apart on the track? The Mustang has better reliability ratings than any 3-series, C-class or A4 (not saying much as the German Big 3 are in the 40th percentile or worse for reliability according to Consumer Reports).
marshknute 1 month ago
@marshknute wow! 451HP out of 5.0 engine?? rly? the best you can? how about 420 out of 4.0 in BMW m3 or 444out of 4.2 in audi rs5.(naturally aspirated) and i can see some pattern in your american propaganda gainst foreign carmakers... if you dont, google it up
and mate im an mechanical engineer specialized in thermodynamics. trust me i know a lot about internal combustion engines and every part of it
dcukic 1 month ago
@dcukic wow! 451HP out of 5.0 engine?? Name one European car that can do better for the price of a Mustang GT. There isn't a single example. The Europeans need 16 cylinders, 8.4 liters, 4 turbochargers and $1.6 million to make 1000 hp engine. We americans made 1000 hp with just 6.2 liters and half the cylinders/turbos/price. In order for Europe to beat an American performance car, they need twice the money and 7 times the brainwashing.
marshknute 1 month ago
@marshknute wow, true american to the bone... can you read? read this out loud pls so it sinks in your brain: AMERICAN CARS ARE EXPENSIVE IN EUROPE. and pls dont compare veyron with ssc, veyron doesnt bark like dog when you switch gears and it doesnt shake like hell when you drive it and its more comfortable, better looking, better interior. and it can be used as a normal road car and not only on track.
dcukic 1 month ago
@dcukic You just lost all credibility when you called the Veyron a normal road car. It is impossible to drive on the road (too wide, no visibility, low to the ground, etc) and sure as hell doesn't have $800K more luxury than the SSC. It's just another example of Europe over-thinking an uncomplicated solution. The Viper ACR is faster around the Nurburgring than the GT2 RS, despite being heavier, less powerful and less technologically advanced.
marshknute 1 month ago
@dcukic While the Europeans think performance requires AWD and 9-setting traction control systems, the Americans can make a fast car thanks to simple torque and grip. As your beloved Clarkson once said, "I can fix this...just give me a hammer."
marshknute 1 month ago
@marshknute you used US cars and grip in same sentence. you are so funny. one of ssc directors said they are building totally different car from veyron and yes everyone can drive veyron and use it every day(thats what folks from bugatty say). hows this for math... 1000 hp 1.8 ton and ssc half as much. and they do the same top speed? :) and if i remember well only 2 american cars are in top ten on nurnburgring and 7 European cars.
dcukic 1 month ago
@dcukic Do you know anything about American cars? The Mustang Boss pulls 1.01g on the skidpad (more than a Ferrari 458 Italia: 1.00g). The base V6 Mustang pulls .97g (the same as a 997 Carrera). As for the NR, it's pretty impressive, isn't it? America only makes two supercars, and they hold spots 1, 3, 4 and 5 (after you eliminate the fake cars that don't meet US safety/emissions standards). You're a dumbass who thinks it's 1975. Welcome to 2011!
marshknute 1 month ago
@marshknute stop comparing tuned cars with standard ones standard 458 1.00 g standard mustang0.64g. and check your info on NR again. welcome in 2011 you patriotic retard
dcukic 1 month ago
@dcukic What Mustang pulls .64g? Motor Trend Magazine tests every car on a flat proving ground located in a desert (all cars have heat in the tires and no wind). The 2011 V6 pulled 0.97g, while the Boss 302 pulls 1.01g. The Boss 302 is NOT a tuned car. It is build in-house by Ford and purchased in a Ford dealership. You're thinking of Shelby. As for my NR times, they are accurate as of October 2011 (for US legal cars--excluding fake cars like the Radical and Donkervoort).
marshknute 1 month ago
@dcukic Excuse me, the V6 Mustang pulls 0.96 g. Type: "First Test: 2011 Ford Mustang V6" into the search bar. Pease don't comment anymore, you're ignorance is showing.
marshknute 1 month ago
@marshknute sry misstyped twas 0.91. info is from insideline.
boss is the same as AMG for mercedes. a tuning company but merc solds their cars in their dealerships.
and remember im from europe, here they are legal cars, NR is in europe.
and yes lets eliminate everyone faster and say our car is the fastest.
dcukic 1 month ago
@dcukic The Boss IS NOT like AMG. Ford doesn't have an in-house aftermarket tuning company. The same engineers who designed the V6 and V8 models designed the Boss. The Mustang lineup is just like the Porsche 911 lineup: Mustang V6 = Carerra (smallest engine), Mustang GT = Carerra S (more powerful engine), Boss = GT3 (more powerful engine, lighter weight, huge spoiler/splitter, go-faster stickers).
marshknute 1 month ago
@dcukic As for the NR times, I simply can't count the times of the Radical and Donkervoort. They aren't sold here in America, don't meet crash test standards and don't meet emissions standards. The fastest US-legal road car is the Viper ACR, followed by the GT2 RS, followed by the Corvette ZR-1. You'd have to use the term "car" extremely loosely to call the radical a car. I'm not arbitrarily eliminating those cars, I'm only counting cars which meet the rules and regulations where I live.
marshknute 1 month ago
@dcukic Feel free to count the lap times of the Radical, Donkervoort and Gumpert (I admit, I probably would, too, if I lived in Europe). Even so, the only two American supercars are still in the top 10. Not bad for a country with no supercar companies. The Corvette and Viper are nothing more than side-efforts made possible by the success of mainstream cars. Ferrari and Lamborghini make nothing but supercars, but aren't even in the top 15.

dcukic 1 month ago
@dcukic As for the SSC vs Bugatti, lets look at the facts: The standard Veyron only beats the SSC to 60 thanks to its AWD system. The lighter SSC is faster to 100, 200 and 250 mph and is faster period at 256 mph. You could pay an additional $500K for the SuperSport version, but you'd be holding your breath until the SSC Tuatara is tested.

@marshknute the mustang GT costs £40,000 in the uk dumb ass and the audi hatchback can out run and out handle it...
hamzah510 1 month ago
@hamzah510 Wrong again. I just checked UK import prices for the 2012 Ford Mustang: kc-imports is offering the cheapest V6 Mustang for £18,866 and the V8 version for £22,735.
Don't you dare suggest that the new Mustangs don't handle well. The Mustang GT matched the BMW M3 around MotorTrend's handling circuit and beat the M3 around Laguna Seca. The Boss Mustang, on the other hand, beat the Audi R8 around Laguna Seca, and recorded 1.01g skidpad (compared to the 458 Italia's 1.00g).
marshknute 1 month ago
@marshknute both being specially tuned versions of the car, a victory of .01g isn't so impressive especially considering the fact that both the r8 and the 458 beat it in every other way.
hamzah510 1 month ago
@hamzah510 The Boss 302 is not a specially tuned version of the Mustang. It is designed by the same engineers who make the standard V6 model. Think of it in the same way you would a Porsche GT3 RS: still part of the 911 range, but designed in-house as a track-focused model. Sure the R8 and 458 look better, but the Boss 302 lapped Laguna Seca faster than the R8. It just goes to show what a well-sorted chassis, good tires and clever engine can do--no fancy technology needed (like the GT3 RS).

@marshknute
Do one you fat cunt
doldrums88 1 month ago
@doldrums88 I guarantee the V6 Mustang would destroy the Clio. The V6 pulls .96g (same as a 997 Carrera) according to MotorTrend's testing. The Shelby GT500 is the most expensive Mustang in the US. The Mustang GT (with the new 5.0 V8--the one that matched the M3) starts at $29,710 according to Ford's website. The Boss 302 starts at $40,310. The 2011 Charger (not the old Charger) was reviewed by Kelly Blue Book and compared to all other "full-sized sedans" in its price bracket.
marshknute 1 month ago
@marshknute
You are throwing prices right, left and centre without making any sense you ridiculous greasy fat cunt. The ShelbyGT 500 costs around 70 to 80 thousand € and the RS3 is a cheaper, better car - which was the initial point, the v6 3.7 M is an awful metal box made by a bunch of fat inbreds in michigan, while the Clio Rs is a proper little street racing car, allow Europe's hot-hatches and Ford will bite the dust like many other useless yank car manufacturers did
doldrums88 1 month ago
@doldrums88 How can you say anything about the 2011 Mustangs? Have you been in one? Have you driven one? I clubspec race my Miata with the New Jersey Porsche Club. The V6 Mustangs hold off Boxsters, while the V8 Mustangs hold off Carrera S's. I noticed that you only name cars that aren't sold in the US (RS3, Clio), and therefore have never set lap times around the same tracks as the new Mustangs. If you don't have numbers to back up your performance claims, don't make them.
marshknute 1 month ago
@doldrums88 The Mustang GT (which has proven to be equally as fast as the BMW M3 around Laguna Seca) sells for €35,751. The RS3 is €47,768 while the M3 sells for €65,426. Are you going to tell me that the M3 has 30K more luxury? If you sit in a new Mustang, you'll be forced to concede that the BMW is just a bunch of over-complicated badge snobbery that can be matched by a "fat yank-tank."
marshknute 1 month ago

USA - fat, useless, ignorant cunts.
doldrums88 1 month ago
@doldrums88 I realize you are trying to win by choosing the most expensive Mustang that has been given to an aftermarket manufacturer in order to make them look expensive. The Shelby GT500 coupe actually sells for €61,376 and that gives you 135 more hp than the still more expensive M3. And don't you dare suggest that the RS3 could hold its own against the Shelby. It would be destroyed by the first straight, and the Shelby's 0.96g skidpad grip will keep it in the lead at the first corner.
marshknute 1 month ago
@marshknute
God, you're a dull cunt, I write shit comments but you're an absolute homo. "I realize you are trying to win by choosing the most expensive Mustang", trying to win what you tulip? Just have a look at the rs3 on ice vid and when the fat Michigan bastard can do that come back to me.
doldrums88 1 month ago
@doldrums88 I can simplify the whole situation easily: In the States, there isn't a single European car that can compete b/c they are all too expensive. In Europe, the American cars are still cheaper and faster (according to that website and pound-->euro conversions), but Europeans are too ignorant and close-minded to give them a chance. They would rather drive around in FWD French hatchbacks (except for the majority who can't afford petrol and drive 62 hp diesels).
marshknute 1 month ago
@marshknute
The day you allow our hot-hatches in USA is the day Ford will shut down.
doldrums88 1 month ago
@doldrums88 If by Toyota, you mean Mazda, then you are correct. Miata's are the vehicle of choice for clubsport racers because they are cheap to buy and repair. If you read all my previous comments, you would know that I recently sold a 2004 Audi A4 3.0L V6 6-Speed manual. It was a good car, but it was very unreliable (Audi is in the 30th percentile for reliability in the States). The newest American cars are very good, the old ones (pre-2009) were shit.

doldrums88 1 month ago
@doldrums88 Do you know what the Miata is? Fifth Gear, Top Gear, MotorTrend, CarandDriver, Automobile and CarBuyer described it as one of the best driver's cars ever built. Once more, if you were familiar with Miata's, you would know that a fat person can't fit in them. My 5'7" 135lb body fits easily.
marshknute 1 month ago
@doldrums88 As you already know, I am using UK import prices and converting that number into Euros. The prices will obviously be different across Europe. As for this video, you'll notice that the old Mustang (an admittedly terrible performance car) lost to the Exige. The new Mustangs share nothing in common to the one in this video other than the badge. As for the Viper, just look at how poorly it was driven, while the Stig made zero mistakes in the BMW. The Viper is #1 around the Nurburgring.
marshknute 1 month ago
@marshknute
The track was in America well known by the American driver and what a surprise the massive 12L 26090hp Viper couldn't cope with the s54b32 engine fitted in a z4. Once again you are proven wrong - a cheaper, smaller, European car embarrassing the American muscle car. Cars in UK are cheapest on the continent trouble is insuring, if you learn to do right to left hand drive conversion you can make a fortune in no time by buying and reselling cars from England.
doldrums88 1 month ago
@doldrums88 The driver may have been familiar with the track, but he sure as hell wasn't familiar with the car, as evidence by the understeer. The Viper is the fastest US-legal car around the Nurburgring. Unlike you, I have years of track racing under my belt. I experience understeer, oversteer, trail braking, etc every weekend. I can say from an educated perspective that the Viper was driven like shit in this video, and it's NR time proves how much potential it has when driven correctly.

You wouldn't know that b/c you are to busy buying diesel for your minicab.
marshknute 1 month ago
@doldrums88 You drive a diesel MPV and have never had any performance driving training and claim to know about driving dynamics? Hahahaha!!!!! Are Europeans mating with vegetables now? You are only choosing hot hatches that aren't sold in the States, and have therefore never set lap times on the same tracks as the new Mustangs. It's hard to prove something with zero evidence, isn't it? Please respond once you give me some official lap times for both the Stang and hatches on the same track.
marshknute 1 month ago
@doldrums88 Hatchbacks in general sell poorly in the States. We only buy them when we can't afford anything else. Every pizza place buys a honda hatchback as a delivery car. Fiat miserably failed to sell their target number of 500's. Mercedes will soon axe the Smart brand b/c we only buy them to advertise businesses by putting business logos on the side. Mini is the only hatch that has sold reasonably well, and it is chiefly purchased as a rental car at airports.
marshknute 1 month ago
@doldrums88 You can pretend to know everything and convince yourself that Americans will buy hot hatchbacks, when the nation has already proved that we will not. There is simply no need for them here in the States, and we prefer to spend our money on purpose-built sports cars (not economy cars modified to go faster). You can be delusional about the performance figures of the new Mustangs, but that just means we will smoke you hatch-driving Europeans on and off the track.
marshknute 1 month ago
@marshknute
So if the Mini has a decent sale rate what makes you think the much better hothatches won't sell in the US? As a matter of fact there are loads of petitions going on atm in USA to bring the hothatches over there.
doldrums88 1 month ago
@doldrums88 As I said, rental companies purchase the Mini b/c it is a cheap convertible. They don't buy the S version. The JCW has sold terribly here in the States b/c it is nothing more than a 208 hp FWD hatchback that costs more than a 415 hp Mustang GT. Hot hatches like the Golf R32 (now the Golf R) are nothing more than overpriced and relatively slow cars purchased by brand-enthusiasts.

doldrums88 1 month ago
@doldrums88 As I said before (read more carefully next time), Muscle cars don't work in Europe b/c they are dimensionally large and have thirsty V8's. Since many European roads are narrow and fuel prices are more expensive in Europe, muscle cars are economically unfeasible. Sure you could drive them, but they are poor daily drivers. While hatchbacks do fit on our roads, they are too expensive relative to muscle cars, and are less practical than SUV's. Different markets, different cars.
marshknute 1 month ago

But I agree, different cars , different markets.
