Why is that? I'll never buy an evo or sti. My stepdad just got an evo x mr not too long ago, yeah its fast, yeah it corners unbelievably well, but with its advanced computer and all the traction control and stability control systems these cars have nowadays, its like you dont even have to drive the f'ing thing. There is something much more rewarding about driving a car, then a computer. Yeah turbos are great and all, but ide rather listen to a n/a 2.0 screaming at 8k rpms.

the reason the new type r is faster on the track is because the old one set a timewhen it was wet so if u add the time (4 sec) for a wet lap the old one would be faster

I was looking at a new style type r but i thought it would be a stupid buy since im still in university however if i had the choice between the old EP3 type r and the new FN2 type r,

Hondas cars... well, specifically the Civics... are getting heavier. These cars used to be a model for small, lightweight performance up til the generations after the turn of the century. From 6th to 7th gen, it was like a 100-200lb difference. From 7th to 8th (now), it's as much as a 400lb difference! Though they do lighten the Type Rs, it's taken Honda a while to get the overall car right. The EP3R and the current FD2R (4-door sedan) were great Type Rs. This FN2R is... a Civic Hype R.

The only reason why the newer version type R sucks compared to the EP3 is because the car is a UK spec car. That car doesn't exist here in Japan because lets face it, the EP3 is enough for us lol. The Jap's make cars for perfection and price is of no concern :p

Yeah I got mine late August of this year, and let me tell you:

It's definitely worth it.

 it's past midnight here too, i guess we're both on the west coast.

If you haven't driven it before, the first thing you'll notice is how sharp and responsive the handling is. The second thing is how damn light the clutch is. I have yet to break in the engine, which means I haven't even heard that sweet song of the vtec yet. can't go past 4500 rpm's til 2500 miles :(

It has the rsx type s engine.

I just test drove it a couple days ago and I agree with you only 120%. That was a very light clutch and the engine is just amazing. Yeah I'm in the west coast but I thought breaking in point was 500-600miles.

yeah a lot of people do the whole 500 miles but I want to be really safe because i want this car to last me for like ten years. Plus that's the magic number for my family and it's served well, as our oldest car, a 1993 camry still runs like new. Also, the longer you wait, the more you enjoy it when you finally put your foot down. I love the rsx type s and i was pissed when the dropped it in 2006. But when i heard that this car has the same engine, I turned back to Honda. Enjoy this car.

Just don't drive with wet shoes. They will slip off the aluminum pedals. I made that mistake lol. My foot just kept slipping off the clutch.

But that's not really a bad thing. And it's ok if u stall it a few times. The clutch is light but can be unforgiving. Once you get used to it it'll be fine. I gotta go to bed. I got class in like nine hours lol.

I own a Civic Type R GT FN2. I may have had a few races against the older EP3 & they may have been dead evan. Quick question. Why is the new FN2 3 SECONDS quicker round the Top Gear track then the EP3? I think the EP3 was done by old Stig, but 3 seconds is a big gap. Clarkson gave this car a bad review, because he wanted to be the first to drive it & Honda said no. Honda were going to sue him untill he made an apology & now somewhere hidden is a new Clarkson review, Plus Hammond & May like it.

My boyfriend just got the EP3 civic, 03 Plate.. and to be honest I would pick this one over the new one. They look big and bulky and heavy. The EP3 looks light and easier to move. not only that it looks like something that honda just chucked together for a new idea. Don't get me wrong they are amazing at creating cars but its like they had to make a newer one. But i prefer the EP3. Just my opinion. Plus it shits me up when he is going round corners at 80. The engine is just an incredible noise.

I used to work for honda during the time this show came on air. Clarkson wanted to test drive the car before public release and honda said no. As a result, he threw a fit, and trashed the car in review as you see here. While he's correct that the old ones were slightly quicker, no way is this car a bad car. Honda were going to take legal action against him for trashing the brand. He eventually did apologise to honda and i think you'll find a newer, more 'upbeat' review he's given to compensate.

Good point, but I'm glad that the UK Civic Type R exists rather than not doing so. The Mugen UK Type R should be great, even with torsion beam. Torsion beam doesn't hold the Renault R26.R back.

I have a DC2 Type R. So understand your purist attitude. It's best to think of this Civic as just a step to the Mugen.

It's your money for sure but if you've just tuned it you will most likely need better chassis, brakes, perhaps even tyres. My opinion is that especially this car doesn't need to be tuned.
