I have seen people fucked up on pure THC. Doesn't mean weed is bad. Nicotine in the right amounts is very healthy. Tobacco is healthy. Weed it healthy. the problems come from over consumption. Cancer is caused by estrogen, smoking (anything) is estrogenic, therefore it is not generally a positive thing towards cancer, unless other constituents of the substance off set the effects of soot (nicotine, THC etc...).
@aguineapig cancer's caused by combustin products. primary ones r PAHs wich can b avoided by vaporizin n not usin fire curin or direct heat flue curin, which expose tobacco to combustin products. Carcinogenic TSNAs form from chemical reactions between nitrite and nicotine. nitrite forms from microbial action during curin and fermentation, tobacco thats pasteurized with steam/heat greatly reduces this problem. tsnas r found in fresh tobacco in trace amounts. the problem is fixable!

omg in new zealand for a 50gram of Tobacco from the shop with everything else you need your looking at 50bux and for a pack of 25 smokes is like 20bux you have it so cheap over in the usa
i noticed how the leafs were in a styrofoam cabinet thing with steam and hot lambs what exactly is he doing curing? also can someone please explain the process of fermenting i'm quite interested in this stuff
If you want to learn fermenting in a kiln, your best bet is to go to howtogrowtobaccoDOTcom. (Substitute a real dot for where it says "DOT".) It's a forum where a lot has been said about the subject. Read it all and if you have any questions, join up and ask them. The forum members are always willing to help.
Smart way to do it. When corporations get involved it becomes about chemical additives and profit which invariably lead to sanctions and taxes on dangerous products. This way the guy can control what goes onto his plants and into his lungs.
@ThndersRage Paper is made of the fibers from the stalk of the cannabis plant. It's not made from the leaves or flowers. Cannabis became illegal federally in 1937 thanks to William Randolph Hearst (among others). Hemp paper was a threat to his tree paper business. So he convinced the government that cannabis did all kinds of horrible things to people who smoked it. He owned a bunch of news papers. So he was able to effectively spread anti Marijuana propaganda.
Too bad i live in a freaking apartment and don't have enough space to grow anything :( Unless i fill my balcony with pots.Has anyone tried something similar and can state that it'll actually work? Also noting that my country is damn hot.8 months of summer and rainy season you wouldn't even call winter. Will it work in this climate?
There are a lot of people who grow in containers. The only real downside is that you have to water more often, but with a few plants, that's not much work.
For more info, search for the How to Grow Tobacco forum.
Some of the best tobacco comes from climates like you descibe.
@joakeimmcgrath You could investigate community garden plots - where I live, for instance, there are community gardens that allow you to rent out a plot for the year for like $40 +/-. I don't know if they'd object to you growing tobacco in them, but I imagine they wouldn't care so long as it's legal to grow in your state.
@joakeimmcgrath I grow just bout anything you can imagine all indoors. I use a deep water hydroponic system. am growing chili peppers right now and its December.
@SIMONDUKEN It has the same chemicals as are produced in the fermentation process; namely ammonia and other nasties, which the fermentation is meant to sap from the finished product.
The purpose of fermenting is to remove the ammonia so that it doesn't taste like grass. Ammonia will leave on it's own by aging for as long as a year. Bob (the guy in the video) found that his Silk Leaf was ready to smoke in November after the video was made, without fermenting in a kiln. My Virginia Gold from last year was ready in the spring just by aging it. Ammonia can also be reduced by not adding nitrogen to the soil any later than you have to.
in india ppl pays 90 rs fr 1 pack of 20 cig.....its 2$.....remeber its a price of premium brands like marlboro, davidoff, rothmans, dunhill etc..indian cig u can buy in jus 35 rs.....which is nt even 1$........ indian tobacco is far better den any virginian or coloumbian tobacco.....peace
The price just went up here by another 10%, they are putting up 10% every year. If the government thinks they can make me quit they are wrong. I just bought my own seeds and so did all my friends that smoke HA this will back fire on my government I will make sure of that.
It just makes me so pissed off. I know its bad for me but I made the choice to smoke and will quit when I want to all the government is doing is making smokers want to keep smoking as a act of deviance
I'm not a smoker and personally I find smokers annoying but they really are taking it too far with the taxes. My friend and I are constantly debating weather it would be profitable to buy a bunch of cartons of cigarettes from the Seminole and truck them up to MA where he can sell them at a profit.
i've read that a semi-truck load of cigarettes from North Carolina carry's a $2 million profit if sold in New York City. I didn't check their math, but it sounds about right.
Sure, why not? Everybody else does it. I've read plenty of articles about Hamas, Hezbollah, and Al Quaeda doing the same thing to finance their terrorist operations.
I should also add that Hamas vehemently denies that any of their monies from their U.S. cigarette smuggling operations go to fund terrorism, and are used solely for their party's campaign financing. However, the FBI and CIA says they have evidence to the contrary.
@tatomuck18 If you acctually like Menthol, you got a problem anyway, rolling menthol is good; like one cig a week or so, but no more. You guys have nothing to complain about! In Norway, the prices are about 12 dolllars, yes TWELVE FUCKING DOLLARS. About 70 norwegian kroner.
All I can say is if this catches on then the good ole US government is going to make tobacco illegal. They dont want mom and pop growing this stuff and selling out of our back doors or over the net.
You're right, Iceman. The situation will get a lot worse if smokers don't fight back. This is an election year, so check the candidates voting records. Forget party partisanship. There's good and bad in both parties. If they vote against smokers, vote against them. Help smoker friendly candidates get elected.
Call all your candidates and let them know you smoke and you vote. If more smokers did that, we wouldn't have any smoking bans, taxes, or other persecution laws.
theres a lot more non smokers than smokers. Smokers only make up about 7 percent of the population! Even if every filthy stinking smoker got that outraged and took it to the polls, all the politicians will go against them cause all the non smokers want the smokers to be fucked by these outrageous taxes.
@KripDrip There is more non smokers for sure however in the US as of 2008, 43.4 million Americans are smokers out of 307 million(2009). That would be 1 in 7 which is about 14%. 36% if you are only counting 15+ crowd. Couldn't find a stat of only 18+ which I am sure would drive the % even higher and would be more representative. 17 and younger population is irrelevant since they cant vote over here. To discount smoker opinion as far as elections go is foolhardy when you impact their finances.
7 dollars isnt worth 20 cigarettes i remember when the same brand was 3 bucks, now im growin my own tobacco i got my seeds from my uncle and its a hell of alot cheaper and easier
7$ is quite cheap for cigarrettes. In Germany you pay about 5,20€ up to 6€ for a box with 21. Depends on the brand and the quality. Volume tobacco is less expensive at the cost of flavour. Only smoked that tobacco once and trust me I'll never do that again ^^
And I like his statement about smoking and underage ppl. Smoking has been kind of a culture for hundreds and thousands of years. Now in Germany the goverment tries to tell ya that tobacco is the most evil thing on the planet but doesn't mention the risks of genetic manipulated food...
I don't think anybody has mentioned these risks aside from saying GM is "not natural", "against god", and overall just bad. It's analogous to how microwave ovens are dangerous, scary, and nuclear since nobody understands them ...in the 70s. Until somebody can provide some evidence that GM plants create a possibly harmful chemical, I'm going to have to just consider them a (artificial) subspecies of the original plant and just as harmless as the original. All superstitions aside.
@mikezephyr Yes, I grew it last year. It's short with small leaves and big yellow flowers. It has a unique pleasant taste with high nic content. it's good for smoking alone or blending with other tobaccos.
As far as entheogenic (creates God within) properties, I've never smoked enough to do that, but I think Obama has.
Growing tobacco can be compared to growing tomatoes and peppers. If you can grow them, you can grow tobacco. Then hang the leaves up to cure for about 6 weeks.
I did that and the smoke is already better than any commercial tobacco I ever smoked. I don't need to do anything else but smoke it., but I'm going to experiment with further processing methods just because I have a compulsion to always tinker with things.

Tobacco used to grow wild and shouldn't cost a penny...
It's the tobacco farmers and industry that eradicated the plants from most of nature.
Same goes for anything that grows in the ground- you shouldn't be taxing it, food, whatever...

BigBananaMan 1 year ago
i've read that a semi-truck load of cigarettes from North Carolina carry's a $2 million profit if sold in New York City. I didn't check their math, but it sounds about right.
Sure, why not? Everybody else does it. I've read plenty of articles about Hamas, Hezbollah, and Al Quaeda doing the same thing to finance their terrorist operations.
Rollerjim500 1 year ago
I should also add that Hamas vehemently denies that any of their monies from their U.S. cigarette smuggling operations go to fund terrorism, and are used solely for their party's campaign financing. However, the FBI and CIA says they have evidence to the contrary.

Screw your taxes. I'm growing my own. Pay for your own da mn health care and other government programs.

I wanna grow my own but what if I like MENTHOL cigarettes??
Is it possible to make a cigarette that taste exactly like Newport?
tatomuck18 1 year ago
@tatomuck18 If you acctually like Menthol, you got a problem anyway, rolling menthol is good; like one cig a week or so, but no more. You guys have nothing to complain about! In Norway, the prices are about 12 dolllars, yes TWELVE FUCKING DOLLARS. About 70 norwegian kroner.
sweffe96 1 year ago
All I can say is if this catches on then the good ole US government is going to make tobacco illegal. They dont want mom and pop growing this stuff and selling out of our back doors or over the net.
theiceman1972 2 years ago
You're right, Iceman. The situation will get a lot worse if smokers don't fight back. This is an election year, so check the candidates voting records. Forget party partisanship. There's good and bad in both parties. If they vote against smokers, vote against them. Help smoker friendly candidates get elected.
Call all your candidates and let them know you smoke and you vote. If more smokers did that, we wouldn't have any smoking bans, taxes, or other persecution laws.
Rollerjim500 2 years ago
theres a lot more non smokers than smokers. Smokers only make up about 7 percent of the population! Even if every filthy stinking smoker got that outraged and took it to the polls, all the politicians will go against them cause all the non smokers want the smokers to be fucked by these outrageous taxes.
KripDrip 1 year ago
@KripDrip There is more non smokers for sure however in the US as of 2008, 43.4 million Americans are smokers out of 307 million(2009). That would be 1 in 7 which is about 14%. 36% if you are only counting 15+ crowd. Couldn't find a stat of only 18+ which I am sure would drive the % even higher and would be more representative. 17 and younger population is irrelevant since they cant vote over here. To discount smoker opinion as far as elections go is foolhardy when you impact their finances.

@theiceman1972 Or enjoying it and being self sufficient for that matter.

7 dollars isnt worth 20 cigarettes i remember when the same brand was 3 bucks, now im growin my own tobacco i got my seeds from my uncle and its a hell of alot cheaper and easier
constipatedseal2 2 years ago 4
7$ is quite cheap for cigarrettes. In Germany you pay about 5,20€ up to 6€ for a box with 21. Depends on the brand and the quality. Volume tobacco is less expensive at the cost of flavour. Only smoked that tobacco once and trust me I'll never do that again ^^
jzaboo1984 2 years ago
And I like his statement about smoking and underage ppl. Smoking has been kind of a culture for hundreds and thousands of years. Now in Germany the goverment tries to tell ya that tobacco is the most evil thing on the planet but doesn't mention the risks of genetic manipulated food...
jzaboo1984 2 years ago 2
I don't think anybody has mentioned these risks aside from saying GM is "not natural", "against god", and overall just bad. It's analogous to how microwave ovens are dangerous, scary, and nuclear since nobody understands them ...in the 70s. Until somebody can provide some evidence that GM plants create a possibly harmful chemical, I'm going to have to just consider them a (artificial) subspecies of the original plant and just as harmless as the original. All superstitions aside.

I remember about 2 years ago, here in NY thats how much a Pack of Newports cost. And id be SOOOOOOO HAPPY if they were 7 bucks a pack!!!!!!!!
now that same pack costs now $13 a PACK ALL OVER THE STATE!
and in NYC they are just now reaching $20 dollars for ONE PACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
tatomuck18 1 year ago
thats because you guys have MUCH HIGHER wages to afford it!

have you grown wild tobacco- nocotiana rustica?
i have a packet of seeds waiting to burst into life.
it apparently best approximates the originally entheogenic properties of tobacco. strong, strong stuff.
mikezephyr 2 years ago
@mikezephyr Yes, I grew it last year. It's short with small leaves and big yellow flowers. It has a unique pleasant taste with high nic content. it's good for smoking alone or blending with other tobaccos.
As far as entheogenic (creates God within) properties, I've never smoked enough to do that, but I think Obama has.

terry513 2 years ago 2
yea and its not sprayed with all the shit chemicals and mixed with floor scraps and processed tobacco. Im gonna try this next summer
Luckyanus 2 years ago 14
ROFL @ the dude. Yeah, the cost IS absurd, but that isn't the only benefit to growing your own tobacco.
guest2424 2 years ago
Growing tobacco can be compared to growing tomatoes and peppers. If you can grow them, you can grow tobacco. Then hang the leaves up to cure for about 6 weeks.
I did that and the smoke is already better than any commercial tobacco I ever smoked. I don't need to do anything else but smoke it., but I'm going to experiment with further processing methods just because I have a compulsion to always tinker with things.
