f you like the B17 i have a story for u in 1943 UK east harling . An american airman took to war with him a coin SEAL it was his fathers .The coin was very soon to become the good luck Icon for the base and then all of the other bases.Unknown to them they were carrying the seal of god on their missions. The coin was one of four sewn into Jesus cloke it had been past hand to hand to this momentin time Hitler had to go .See The real christos coin u tube to see the mission
You guys are awesome! Great dive! Don't you get chills, just getting to touch a piece of history like that, and it hasen't been seen in almost 70 years? I'm such an aviation nut, I'd be crying in my mask!
A couple of years ago I renovated an old house and under the floor I found a piece of newspaper from the 40s that said that a B-17 had crashed outside the coast of Skåne, Sweden, must have been this plane. Too bad I didnt keep the paper!
Actually, that is probably not this plane. There is remains of a B-17 bomber off the coast of Skåne. The plane you read about is probably a B-17G no. 42-107178. Remains of that one lies in quite shallow water outside Skillinge.
The visibility was quite bad that day. So I arranged my lightsetup wide to compensate for this and well... In that config the camera and lighting is too big for the door.
If I would have forced my way in it would have given max 5sec of video. Then the stirred up silt would have covered everything.
but did u go inside? idc bout the footage but did u? i wud hav. since the crew survived i wud. if they didnt i wud hav kept out. lets not disturb the dead shall we?
Besättning: 10 man Spännvidd: 31,62 meter Typ: Bombflygplan som var baserad på Thurleigh i England under kriget Byggd: 1944 i Seattle, Washington State, USA Förlist: Sjönk efter nödlandning 8 maj 1944 Längd: 22,79 meter Höjd: 5,82 meter Flygvikt: 29 835 kilo Maxfart: 483 km/h Bomblast: 4 600 kilo Flygsträcka (utan bomber): 4 830 km Beväpning: 13 stycken 12,7 mm ksp Djup över botten: ca 39 meter Djup över vraket: ca 36 meter
I think I read about this plane in my Grandfather's WWII book on the American plane group he served, the plane was damaged by AA fire on the return trip, damaged, it limped north to a freindly airbase in sweeden. It was nearly there when the engines finally gave out, the crew abandoned ship and were later rescued by an ally ship...
Thats about all I know, but this could be the wrek of another plane though too...
Riktigt häftigt, såg en dokumentär om en som klarade sig, han landade i sverige. de här måste ha varit hans vänner som inte klarade sig ända till sverige
where was this dive done? When was it? Love it, my dad was a survivor on this plane.

Do you have information on the identity of the plane (tail number) and/or the Bomb Group/Squadron?

It may very well be the right one. Everyone in the crew survived and was rescued by a local fisherman.

wow, B-17's are such beautiful birds, and, even destroyed, they still have that grace to them.
