  • Just love this song, James.. Never tire of hearing it... and it makes me remember that concert in Ft. Pierce in 1997 where we both performed our originals and I

was priviledged to sing this special song with you. Will never you or that night! Blessings, Judy Welden

  • A nice rendition of a classic from the past. It is good that the song can continue to be enjoyed.

  • @milarpro

were the member of this group relatives or all friends? where did they perfom in front of 50,000 people?

i think i heard this when i was 5 in 1969 and i know i heard it again around 1979 and loved it ever since.

they need to play it on retro radio stations instead of the same 200 1960s songs.

    beautiful song.

  • Thanks for stopping by. I don't believe any of the members were relatives. "Mercy" was on tour with other well known groups when they performed for these large crowds. I am not sure exactly where it was they performed. Thanks for watching and commenting. Glad you enjoyed it. Laura ( :

Thanks for your visit and I appreciate all who stop in. By the way, most all of my recordings including the YouTube Milar Production of "Love Can Make You Happy" -

( Rendition ) have been recorded with live musicians.

    Stop by again, JAMES MARVELL

I love the original. Brings back great memories of the year I was in fourth and fifth grade. No offense meant, but this sounds like karaoke night at Florentine Grille.

  • Hey, cool to see you do this song. My dad was the organ player in the band, but this was the only song they recorded and then they broke up and he went into the Marines.

  • Thanks for such an interesting comment! Did your dad ever get back into the music business later on? Laura (:

  • No, he didn't. He plays in church and for weddings, but that's about it.

  • I'm glad to hear he is still using his talent. I am going to be posting some more clips very soon, some of James Marvell. Did you see the "Come Softly to Me" performed by Mercy on my site? Have a great day, Laura (:

  • Thanks for that interesting comment! Laura (:

  • LOL....I am...I didn't sing this song with them, but I did sing in the band.

  • I am still alive and so is Brenda as of this past December. Ann who also sang on the original is also going strong the last I heard. My name is Debbie and I am doing well.

  • Thanks for the information! It's very much appreciated! I hope you enjoyed this video and rendition of "Love Can Make You Happy"!

    Laura ( :

  • Wow, Debbie Lewis of Mercy! How fantastic it is to see your posting here and to know that you are alive and well! "Love (Can Make You Happy)" is one of the most beautiful pop ballads ever. The vocal harmonies are especially beautiful and unforgettable-- thank you so much for your part in producing that timeless recording, and for making many people happy! All The Best to you (also 2 Brenda McNish & the Siglers) , from Michael in New Jersey (compliments & thanks 2 the Marvells 4 the posting!)

  • @EastCoastDude Thanks for commenting! Laura ( :

  • I was 14 when Mercy hit the charts with this beautiful song, and just discovering that Love can truly make a person happy! Thx for posting this and bringing me back to a sometimes turbulant but wonderful time in my life and those adolescent years.

  • Thank you Mitch, for the lovely comments. These songs really do bring back the memories, don't they? I'm glad you enjoyed it. Did you see the "Come softly to Me" that I posted, recorded by Mercy? Check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks. Laura (:

  • Hi Laura, they sure do that. yes, I saw the Come Softly video, a very nice rendition, I liked it. Thx & Happy Easter! Mitch

  • Love it...I was 14 in 1969, just discovering that Love Can 'truly' Make You Happy!

  • The sound quality rocks

    Thanks

  • Thanks, Ben, James will appreciate hearing that from you! Laura

  • Many thanks to James for keeping this beautiful song alive. I was 28 years old in 1969 when it first came out and it was just the right tempo to help you snuggle up close to your favorite young woman while dancing. It was part of what was good about the 60's and helped take your mind off the war and the riots. As I am a Canadian, I was fortunate in that I did not have to take up arms and go to Vietnam. But I honor all those who did go including some of my fellow Canadians who went south to join.

  • Thank you so much for such a nice comment! We americans appreciate our neighbors from Canada! Glad you enjoyed the video. I'll be posting some more of James Marvell in a day or so. Thanks again, Laura

  • Great Slides! Love the song!
