@neacapatoiu Its from the Shakesperean era. I believe it is used mainly to address men lower than oneself (Sort of like another version of sir). I think, though, it might also be a cheer or something.

haha I saw them many years ago touring with REM (it was an acoustic set coz they had all their gear stolen). FANTASTIC show. That was back in the CREEP days. 16th row center stage.. man o man. my brother spoke to the lead singer in the concession line before the show and had no clue till he saw him on stage haha.
