They should have left JFK alone. Had he lived, we might well have had real peace by 1969. How many trillions of dollars could that have saved? How many millions of lives? How much of our standing as a nation for good, for peace and justice?

The Tonkin Gulf attack did happened on Aug 2 1964, but it was the attack on Aug 4 that didn't happen as was disclosed in 2005 by the National Security Agency (NSA). Indeed this incident was used as an excuse for escalating the war in Vietnam.
