  • How much would this rifle cost each in quantities exceeding 100,000 but not for civillian use?Our reserves would need replacement for their outdated and underpowered M1 carbines.

  • @xxwzaebd Best ask Norinco that question directly, as they manufacture these rifles.

  • @xxwzaebd what army are you from

  • Just another former soldier, like you or anyone else in the world.

  • Can an AK be converted to 7.62x51mm?

  • No. 5.56 and 9mm possible but 7.62 is too big and would cause excessive stress on the frame. German OA10 rifle would be better.

  • On an interesting note, Norinco did make a few AK-74's.

  • crazy man

  • I would say that it is both market and quality driven. The 84s chambered in 5.56mm is about as accurate of an AK variant as you will find. Also the 84s has a thicker reciever than many other variants and other desirable features such as hardwood furniture instead of laminated crap. Also, they are true pre-ban, not a frankenstein gun assembled in the U.S. out of parts kits. And consider that arms will probably never be imported for civilian use from China again you can why people want them.

  • I got a question why is it much more expensive to buy Chinese than any other place shouldnt the CHinese firearms be cheaper

  • If that's what you're finding, then it's market driven, not quality driven.

Likely the Bush ban of 89 and the Klinton ban on Chinese munitions of '92 limiting supply.

Despite my Chinese AKs looking like they were beat out on rocks, they function flawlessly.

  • All my AK's are Chinese. It's crime that they can't be imported anymore. I would buy 10 of them if they could still be imported.

  • It's a Chinese Type 84S, the semi-automatic civilian version of the Type 56 assault rifle.

Also, do check out the QBZ56C assault rifle.

  • That flash hider is ringing, what does it do?

  • The *open prongs* on a Smith Enterprises Vortex flash suppressor cause it to ring like a tuning fork.

  • @Frankdude72 I had a Vortex on my M4 and it didn't ring like a tuning fork. That is strange yours does that.

  • @semiautoriflelover Your experience is likely the exception than the rule.

I'm hearing a lot of reports from others about the tuning fork effect.

  • @Frankdude72 Maybe just with AKs because of all the movement, ever see an AK in slow motion? They are all over the place.

  • That would be a Norinco AK84S...

  • The above was a retort to a rather vitriolic comment. Funny that it disappeared almost instantly after I replied.

  • Actually an AK-74 is a specific Russian AK variant in 5.45X39mm, not 5.56X45mm. The tag's there specifically to glean more viewers, who think and AK is an AK-47.

Should you continue with this tone, I'll simply block you. Let's keep it civil.
