It the hedgehog is frightened it will stand it's spines up and they do poke. My hedgehog is quilling right now and I have spines all over my house and you definitely know when you step on one.

I live in Georgia and I they are illegal here. I got one...not saying how. I got rid of it though. Gave it to a shelter with lots of space because it pretty much sucked as a pet, no better than a fish, except they poop more.

You just have to be careful in your aproach. Pick him up from below with a scooping motion, don't grab and you'll be fine.

Trust is a big thing with hedgehogs, since they are not domesticated yet and the fact that they are anti-social, it might days a few days to a week for you headgehog to trust you. I have a hedgehog named Higgens :O

No, it is not an albino, note the black eyes. Also, it is not sick. The reason it is in the house is that I feel the need to let him out of his cage every now and then, which is ok to do with a hedgehog, in fact some people treat them like cats and just let them roam around the house. They can even be potty trained! Hope the info helped
