I would love to have one of those machines! Is it 15ips capable? I mixed my new wave album (you can download it on my channel) to a Pioneer RT701 which barely seems to be able to saturate RMG SM911. Editing is pretty difficult at 7.5 also
There's B77's with 15IPS capability, but for the same money (well at least in the Netherlands) you buy an AEG/Telefunken M15A, which is a brilliant recorder for editing. SM911 can only handle +5dB. It's brilliant tape, but it's easily saturated.
Last but not least: Your 701 is a 4-track machine, they're mostly made for home use. You might want to look out for a Tascam, Studer, Otari or probably a Telefunken M15A
Oh I'm all too aware of that!! I thought about converting it to 2-track heads but I didn't have the money and that probably would have required modifications to the electronics also. Isn't the M15A the machine German radio used that wound the tape oxide-out, or was that an M15"B"? (B-wind)
