Ok I have not had a perm in 5 1/2 months now and I have a lot a of New grow but I still have some perm left in. I'm trying to stay away from perms and would like grow my hair out w/o doing the big chop what are some good products to use and curly hair styles I can do... Please let me know thanks :)
My question is how do you maintain this hairstyle, when you go to bed or during the week however long this may last I have micros in my hair now ready to take them out. I got a halo in august but my last full relaxer was in June :-) 4months
My name is Shaunte, and I’m transitioning to natural hair. My last perm was Feb. 2011;I have been wearing braids. I don’t want to chop my relaxed hair because it is long; so the twist style seems like it will work for me. I don’t know if I’ll ever chop my relaxed hair. Is that a good idea? And, do you plan on cutting your relaxed hair in the future?
Do you always have to wash your hair before gelling it and styling? Because I find my natural hairstyles only lasting a little less than a week, and I dont want to constantly wash my hair every week.
Do you always have to wash your hair before gelling it and styling? Because I find my natural hairstyles only lasting a little less than a week, and I dont want to constantly wash my hair every week.
you dont have to use the curlers at the end of your hair.. you can get the same effect if you tke your 2 strand twists adn twist them up into bantu knots. the permed ends of yor hair will curl up the same way they did in the video.
@shuantae1 you should try a product called cuc a bugz by reds kitchen sink it is so good i am in transition too. reply back peace and love @moneyindabankchic
I was ready to get a touch up til seeing your video. Your hair type looks like mine and when you showed what ur hair looked like after a wash, I was like OMG. What is your hair type and how do i find more hair videos and styles for our hair? My hair is dryer than your though but close enough. Help
@rickandtif I felt the same way until I saw this video. I used different products (only because they were purchased before I saw this vid) but got the same results. My hair is dry as well so I use Miss Jessie's products to clean & style and extra virgin olive oil (the kind you cook with) to mosturize...sounds gross but it actually works.
I actually did this style yesterday, but using different products. I loved the end results!! Where did u buy ur products from? One of my friends used it and then I saw it in a few other YT vids and I figure it must be good LOL
Luv it, thanks for showing me how to do it. Been natural for 17 months and just been wearing weaves. I am now ready for the natural transition and will be going out tomorrow to buy the stuff you have just shown me to do. Thanks
Love your hair. I too am transitioning. I want to try this at home. I have all the products I need except the wax. I notice you said at the wax to each section. Do you add the wax from root to the ends as you're twisting, OR do you just add the wax to the ends before the rubber bands and rollers? Thanks for sharing!!!
I'm half white and all my life I was taught that straight hair was better. So up until 2 months ago I permed my hair. And now that I've stopped my hair is in better condition. I have trouble finding a style that will work for my confused hair. LOL. I will definitely try this one.
The style u did was cute maybe I'll try it later in the summer, bc right now I'm bouta go get some extensions twists in my hair, I'm tired of doing it
I always had long natural hair going up but as soon my 10th grade year into high school I got tired of my hair and I wanted to be like all the other girls lolss so I got an relaxer with in the year my hair broke off in 2009-2010 my hair wAs starting to grow back in summer 2010 I made of my mind to go back natural. But it's a pain since my hair broke off recently due to the tracks I had in for 4days. It was my first nd last time. I guess bc of the glue it plug out tonz of my hair from the edges
ha very very cutethink I'll do it tomorrow Im bout a year and 1 month post relaxer and so happy for alot of people i see just starting out realqueens.ning.com was alot of help for me
I'm relaxer free for 6 months and was having trouble with the transition, ie hairstyles that looked cute. I was actually considering perming it, but your video gives me hope..LOL
I'm four months relaxer free and I'm looking for transitioning styles. This video is a great help and I'm gonna try this today. How do u maintain this style?
I just tried this after watching your video a couple days ago and I LOVE it! This is my 6th month being relaxer-free and I've been looking for hairstyles to try. Thank you! I was glad to see the Cantu products, too. I've been using those for a little while now. Thanks for sharing!
Your hair turned out very nice. My daughter and I started our transition last month and we love it. Watching alot of Youtube video's on how to do this, it doesn't look like the rubber bands and end wraps are necessary, I would be too scared to use the rubber bands, but I guess that wouldn't matter if your transitioning. I like the idea of useing the end wraps because I take up too much time getting the end of my twist out to stay on the rod when I start my curl. So thanks, nice job shuantae1
Transitioning is no joke for sure; takes perseverance and determination. Congratulations...a whole new world of hair beauty and natural textures discovery is on it's way!
I LOVE IT LOL ... I ONLY BEEN IN TRANSITION FOR A MONTH BUT BEFOR THEN I GOT A PERM N IT DIDNT TAKE SO IM REALLY THICK (IN SPOTS) LAAST WEEKEND I STRAW CURLED MY HAIR AND PULLED IT OUT WITH MY FINGERS, IT WAS REALLY PRETTY BUT IT TAKE SO LONG LORD.....THIS SEEMS LESS TIME CONSUMING WITH THE SAME OUTCOME THANKS FOR THE IDEAL
Do you know how I can get my hair this texture? I would really like to know I'v been natural for over a year now and its still not this good? I REALLY NEED HELP!!
I've been transitioning for about 6 months now with sew-ins and wigs. I think I've finally found a style that I will feel comfortable wearing. Thanks for the video.
Hi, I love your site, Please stop by my blog and shed some of your ideas, it's for all my girls caught in the tug of war b/t being natural & the 1B, 22in, this blog is for you:
I tried this style over the weekend and I LOVE it! I did it Saturday night, and couldn't walk through church on Sunday without getting tons of compliments. Wanted to let your viewers know that I have 4a/4b hair, and it worked beautifully on my 4 months post relaxer hair. This is going to be my "go to" style, I don't think these curls are coming out unitl I shampoo them out :-) Thanks!
your hair is beautiful. u dont kno it but u are my encouragement to start out my natural hair journey. evrytime i feel a little in doubt i look at your videos. i am a new transitioner because of you!!! are there anytips that you can give me on this journey. i've only been transitioning for a 1 and 1/2 months. but i am a 22 year old that wants to start this journey. Tell me will this style work for my hair considering the face that it hasnt been that long of a transition. how do they last///
OK! Sis, you have REALLY helped me out with this one! Your hair is BEAUTIFUL! I am 19 years natural and TRANSITIONING! Ugh! The past 3-4 years i have kept my hair constantly pressed or flat-ironed, and my texture went "bye-bye!" So, I cut a long bob (sacrificed 5 inches in some areas) and am working to transition. I wish i had seen this video before i cut that length off, but it's ok. Less to roll, less to dry. I gotta watch again and write down the products.
First off, your soooo pretty! That hair stlye fits you sooo well ! and its so cute too. How do you make the front hair the roots so straight ? do you use gel for that ?
thanks sooo much for this cuz ive been tryin to find something to do wit my hair. cuz i always put them in ponytails. but man im doin this on my hair today!
hey just watch your vidoe i am starting to transition right now im currently have micro braids in my hair and i decided to just go natural do u have any advice u can give me for a beginner
HOTTTTNESS! I def will be doing this tonight! Thanks any other transtioning ideas please give because this going natural thing is harder than i thought & EVERY bit helps! .... My hair is a lot shorter & my new growth isnt as long but it's getting there..... This style i def can do now tho despite the length difference.
Your hair is so beautiful and you have terrific skin! My hair is very, very short from just doing he bc so it will be a few months before I can do this style. However, when I am ready, I will definitely refer back to your video. I love the Mary Mary music as well. Truly awesome video. God bless you.
I really enjoyed your video. I am just beginning on my journey to transistion to natural hair. I actually will be going to get my hair cut off because I still have some perm in my head. I just need to know if I exercise five to six days a week, should I co-wash everyday afterwards?
Also, do you take any kind of vitamin? Right now I take one vitamin E and a prenatal vitamin.
Love, love, love this video! Not only have you shown me how to do 2-strand twists, but I have an idea about how to improve my braidouts. Your hair turned our soo beautiful. I can't wait to try this. Thanks so much and keep the videos coming! Subscribing for sure....
I need inspiration!! I have been with out a perm for a year now. This is the second week I have tried a bantu knot out (I hate it) so I need something new.... thanks for another idea!
Great video, girl!! When I was watching the process I was like, huh, what is she doing., but it turned out great! I love it! How do you keep it at night. I got a relaxer a month and a half ago and I am pretty much committed to growing my hair out, provided I get a solid transition style repertoire.
wow!!! I love this! very cute this is my first time seeing something like this! Trying it soon!

Thanks again and you are so beautiful.

Great video, girl!! When I was watching the process I was like, huh, what is she doing., but it turned out great! I love it! How do you keep it at night. I got a relaxer a month and a half ago and I am pretty much committed to growing my hair out, provided I get a solid transition style repertoire.
