I do like the Parodius series, guess its weirdness has always appealed to me. But definately agree on various flaws this series has, the power up system's shite at times i feel and yeah it's bloody solid too. Cool overview as usual dude, very stylish! Hope Stardust, Tarquin & the gang have had a great Xmas & yourself of course mate, all the best for 2012. :)

I have all 3 for the SFC, and Jikkyo (chatting) is my fav by a long-shot..if only for the condom-covered flying syringes.

Couldn't really get into this unlike the gradius collection im busy playing through (that and hyper dual) also finding it hard to get into the salamander series but i know your not much of a fan of that either lol....

Spot on review as always, i have the pal version of this simply titled Parodius and a jap copy of sexy Parodius but its the super Nintendo version i like the most.

Love the Parodius series.... but love Gradius even more, especially the superior SNES version. Of course you wouldn't know about that one would you, since you were too busy spanking your chimp over the PCE.

You know, I haven't ever got on with the Parodius/Gradius series. Cant quite put my finger on it, but just cant seem to gel with the games, with the exception of Gradius V maybe but then I could well have been seduced by the gorgeous graphics and the Treasure influence. What's next, Sexy Parodius? That one is about as sexy as Readers Wives! An improvment over this though. Great review mate.

Cracking review as ever, yours are the best I watch :)

I was pretty surprised how hard you were on the game tbh, I've always thought that the Parodius range of games was a cracking little series & thought that was the normal view on them, I'll be interested to see the scores for the others in future reviews :) If I get chance I'm going to play this one again tonight now incase its a matter of nostalgia overruling the brain which can happen with retro gaming sometimes.

I felt the same after playing this game. I heard a lot of great things about it but I was pretty disappointed. I enjoyed Sexy Parodius more though. Great review man!
