  • i'm using this vid as long as i live

  • D Sharp tuning is the SAME as E flat tunning(:

  • Great vid I tune everytime with this. D# is the same thing as Eb, why is everyone being nooby nowadays. :/

  • I left a negative comment on this like half a year ago. I don't know why. I don't even remember leaving it, but just so you know I use this like every other day to tune my guitar. thanks.

  • @keenterbounds you're very welcome, thank you for watching

  • Is there such thing as just plain F tuning ? lol Seriously, I ordered a Brand New Ibanez and the First and last strings were in the Key of F, but not tuned like your regular E tuned guitar. but it sounded different and nice.

  • Wow you guys are all idiots!! It says flat because it is Eb tuning!! Half step down. Just because the first note is D# doesn't mean that its D# tuning you fucking idiots. It's the same note!! Learn music please!! Thanks for the upload MinnoqWV, so sorry for people's ignorance.

  • D sharp thx

  • cool what program?

  • thanks alot helpful wen i cant find tuner ! check out my vidoes?

  • @AlabasterDog Considering the fact that being a sculptor IS being an artist, that's an absurdity. A painter is a different type of artist. You wouldn't be a sculptor if you hadn't learned the basics of molding and shaped things that looked like sh*t, now would you? The ones criticizing hardly know that D# is the exact same note as Eb. Comes to show that these "musicians" don't know the basics of music which are reading sheet music.

  • Duuuuumb. Why was this considered d flat??? # SHARP SYMBOL, which means the pitch of the notes go UP not DOWN. >< duuuumb

  • one of those strange music things. If you have a digital tuner and you fret notes up and down your guitar neck, you will find that there is no e flat. it should be called d sharp. i dont understand why its called e flat at all but it is.

  • Eb = D# (:

  • THESE NOTES ARE ALL OFF... IT'S... IT'S... AS IF THEY'RE FLAT OR SOMETHING!!!

    ;p

thanks for the vid! i like this one a lot!

  • Dude thank you very much :)

  • I know Eb and D# are the same, but I think it's a mental thing sometimes. I can read F# minor, G# minor, and A# major, but if someone tells me to play Gb minor, Ab minor, and Bb major, I mess up some.

  • Maaan! Can you change the name of the vid??!! This is a half step up, not down.. REMOVE or CHANGE the name!! This is F A# D# G# C F..

  • @MrAndymacpandy No, it's not. This is Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb, which is the same as D# G# C# F# A# D#. Why do you people refuse to accept this?

  • @MinnoqWV Because most "guitarists" know very little about music. They can't read a sheet music, which makes them not musicians.

  • @MyDeadWhisper It seems to me I had a similar conversation about art that left me shaking my head. I can sculpt, I can build things and I can do ceramics, but because I cannot draw worth a crap- I'm NOT an artist?

    Uhhhh OK then... cool

  • Comment removed

  • @MinnoqWV you're right, but only for fretted instruments and keys. In fact a D# is a litter higher than a Es. Anyway, thanks for vid. Where would you be without youtube and a chromatic tuner...

  • ur the effin man!

  • tabs!!!

  • well does it matter? Eb or D#?

    SAME THING.

  • i always though of it as e flat tuning, i know that is the same as d sharp but i though for whatever reason it was referred to as e flat

  • it's past the one on the side.

  • d# tuning is where your guitar is in standard except for your E which is tuned town.. Eb is all strings down a half step but if they're represented in sharps it's alrite

  • it's Eb or D# it's the same thing but either way it should say Eb or D# standard tuning so this doesn't come up when im looking for a drop tunning

  • thanks

  • Danke

  • Thanks :)

  • theres another way to tune ur guitar into Eb without a video. just pick a fret (lets say the 11th), and play it. keep playing it until u have that sound stuck in ur head. then stop and tune the E string down a little bit. then play the 12th fret. make it sound the same as before. then tune ur guitar normally, and there you go. flat tuning.

  • thnx

  • this is just a half step down tuning. to drop you d, tune your bass string to your d. great vid.

  • saying it as Eb Ab Db Gb Gb Eb is the best way to call it. Using the other names may confuse beginner guitarist.

  • @imadey0utube Amen

  • finally!!! lol thank u soo much

  • cool! i've been using your standard tuning for a long time now, but didn't know about this one! cool!

  • thank you soo much

  • thanX ^.^ helped me a lot ^^

  • I L-L-L-LOVE this tuning! It makes my guitar sound more "smoothly"

  • please please pleeez ineed drop A

  • damn that low?

  • if you have a capo or something to bar the 1st fret you can just tune to standard perfect take off the capo and bam perfect flat tuning.

  • I hope you're trying to be funny :(

  • Thats the same ass...

  • Eb or #D, its the same...

  • No shit. D# is Eb

  • which is the same thing as d#

  • I like flat d, actually for classic guitar, specially for Ramirez guitar, than the standard E. It's more magical

  • is this a half step down?

  • Yep it sure is :)

  • yo man thanx im gunna down, oad audio to my mp3 , can yu do one for DADGad, drop D, C, and A# pleeasee?

  • Thanks alot!

  • This tunning is only half a step down right?

    eb

    Bb

    Gb

    Db

    Ab

    Eb

    Or am I wrong?

  • you're right

  • @tenkuunokage Dsharp a d g b e

  • @tenkuunokage

    Yep. The same.

  • I play guitar, self taught (cheaper that way and I dont sound like every tom dick an harry). I cannot stand to play anything other than standard tuning. I "drop D" every once in awhile to play a few songs.

I think its just after having my ears adjust over the years to the standard pitch, that all the other tunings sound kinda queer.

Maybe I need some decent songs to play in these other tunings to fully appreciate them?

  • The Quiet Things No One Ever Knows - Brand New, thats a good song to play in drop D :)

    well, I like it :L

  • nirvana is a great band and ALMOST all of their songs are flat.

and a couple are in drop d since i listen to them and play their music i always tune in drop D

  • I believe most of Bleach and ALL of Nevermind is tuned to natural. Just Nirvana's live stuff and In utero is in flat. But Nirvana is my favorite band ever (:

  • I think you're right! Only one on Nevermind I would say was tuned down was Something in the way. :)

  • you are corrrrrect :D

  • listen to acoustic guys like andy mckee - mostly open tunings and there are a lot of tabs online

  • guns n roses is good for Eb tuning. just a suggestion lol

  • Snuff by Slipknot... it may be simple but it's really good

  • your special ed...

  • actually Snuff uses a different tune set up but it's still a great song

  • oh nah man, that was meant for mattman, my bad. you're fine :D

  • uhh dude, thats d sharp tuning, not flat.

  • yeah e flat you spazz

  • d sharp is the same as e flat :)

  • hoooooooray music theory :P

  • lol don't know whether or not that was an insult or just a "hooooooray music theory :P" but...ok! xD I don't know much music theory anyway D:

  • @mattman20132 Those are enharmonic equivalents...

  • @mattman20132 its the same tuning.. just differ note names..same pitch..that's the best i can explane..im only selftought..still working on it

  • @mattman20132 Dont know if this has been stated or not, but d sharp and e flat are called "enharmonic" tones. They are the same note but spelled differently. So, D# is Eb in this instance. Hope that helps...

  • thanks! ;)

  • Wow... That felt good. Hey, let me add a little more. This is to all those "experts" who choose to sit on their ass as they review videos on YOUTUBE. You really do show your true colors when you post a critique regarding something as simple as guitar tuning. You LAZY ASS..... Don't you have a job, or a purpose in life? My father always said, "If you don't have anything good to say then don't say anything........ at all." Try remembering that when you feel compelled to post a shitty remark.

  • Lol says the guy with the 2 paragraph comments

  • I am a "newbie" @ guitar. Thanks for taking the time to school guys like me. I appreciate your effort and I am very grateful. I have never posted a comment anywhere, on any site but I felt extremely compelled to add my "2 cents". Well, here it is, for what it is worth...... What is it about all the little bitches out there who feel compelled to tear down something as simple as this instructive video? My GOD!! If you don't like something then just keep moving.. Step off Bitch!!

  • i actually like the speed, the other videos can be slow and tedious. i use this everyday cause it is easier than plugging in every time, not that tuners aren't useful, or more accurate. thanks.

  • Correction on that last part

Eb is D# and C# is Db

  • Don't confuse yourself. Every note has a sharp and flat along with the original note.

    b = Flat / # = Sharp (ex. Eb / E / E# / ex. Cb / C / C#)

Flat is a half note lower, Sharp is half note higher.

But they overlap each other. Like this, Eb is D# or C# is D

  • soooo then(from what the discussions have said on this video)d flat and e flat are the same?

or is d flat tuning just e flat with the low E at a similar pitch of the D string???

    im confused...

  • very helpful

    thanks!

  • would have helped if it were slower but its good

  • amazingly helpful mate good stuff!

  • i bet D# tuning is also a Eb tuning

  • i bet u feel smart, don't you. you're not. you should not have "rock" in your name

  • ur a ledgend!!

  • Best Video Ever

    Long Live Punk

  • this is the D#G#C#F#A#d# tuning. also called half step down. drop D is mostly only the E string tuned down to D.

  • acutally isnt this a full step down cecuse hal step would be Eb Ab Db Gb Bb eb

  • that is exactly what it is. it is about just like math. call 1 D, and 2 E in this case. 1.5 can then be written down either D# or Eb ;)

  • nice way of putting it i may use the analogy for others in the future

  • E flat is the same as D#. Its just put in the Sharp writing here instead of the flat. So yes, this is what Mr. Hendrix used.

  • thanks mate

  • why is it my guitar doesn't have D#...she can get that low..lol

  • is ur tuning the same as d g c f a d cuz u said that it is # so one half a step up but i want clear out D G C F A D

  • thnx maaaaaaaan u are great

  • nice :D

  • this would really confuse beginners. D#G#C#F#A#D#=EbAbDbGbBbeb

  • well actually, i know what you mean, and im a beginner. but instead of writing down these comments without explaining what it means, go buy a life.

  • mp i put that to let beginners know that flat and sharp are half-steps like Db=C#

quit being so touchy we're fucking guitarists!!!

  • geesh, people are brutal.

for what it's worth, your comment actually did help me understand :)

  • hey thanks i appreciate it and hey, im a beginner too

  • THANK YOU

  • Cheers for this vid man! It helped me learn the tunings for the song "I Need Something" by Newton Faulkner. WOOT! ;)

  • lol good one

  • lol

  • lol ty mate now i can play lying from you in the right tuning :D :P

  • all you people bitching about how fast it is

if you know the 5-5-5-4-5-5 tuning trick

    go up to 6-6-6-5-6-6

  • YEAH!!! Now I can play Pantera's "Walk"! Thanks, man!

  • don't know if you care but actually it's played in dropped d tuning

  • Brilliant, cheers mate

  • If you tune to this you'll still be out of tune

  • yeah because its a video the sound is still like, idk.

Itss something to do with the camera which makes the noise funny.

    -Brenden

  • man this is great and its tuned like slash's Les Paul Custom

  • dude, can you make one that is not so fast?

  • Sorry if I sound like an idiot, but there's still a lot of stuff I don't get about music. Is Flat Tuning like D Flat? ...:(

  • it depends, the most common flat tuning is E flat, but you can go to D flat and shit like that

  • thanks. a lot. same here for protest the hero thing.

  • Thanks alot man, I have to tune to this to learn Protest The Hero. I'm learning Divinity Within, and its coming along great.

  • thanx alot man

  • sorry for this stupid question but is this the same as Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb ?

  • yes it is :)

  • thnx
