If your hair is straight. it can not create curls because there is no curl in it ,it's straight. This is not a product to chemically alter your hair texture, if you do not have any curl this will not create a curl.. it's makes what you naturally have pop !

Those little crystals are from the glycerin build up in the hair....this has happened to me too. It could be too much product, or if you mixed any products. Basically, it takes moisture out of the air and the crystals are created.

OMG I use this product too ... I got mine at a dollar store just trying it out because the main ingredients were water, glycerin and aloe vera but i love it... it make your hair soft I only use it once a week and in the mornings i just spray with water and style or just go... i do the cowash everyweek so i dont have build up.... but i thought it was just me using this stuff///lol

Thanks for this review on Blue Magic Curl Activator. I tried it and got good results on my 4b/c hair texture! After co-washing, I applied the gel and used a little water/glycerine based moisturizer. After a minute or two the coils began to pop!

@LoniYoni To me this gel did not leave flakes but there was a product build up after the 2nd or 3rd day of using it. So I began washing & conditioning my hair after the 3rd day and I used less gel to minimize the build up.

Try using Fantasia Frizz Buster Straightening Gel (this is NOT part of the IC Fantasia product line)...it is alcohol free and will NOT leave those little clear/white crystals in your hair or on your hands...it is WONDERFUL!! It will define your curls the same way, but without the residue...I like to use an anti-frizz serum and ORS Nature's Shine Oil...I am positive you will love it!

if my curls need definition i'll use the $1 vo5/suave and leave a little of the conditioner in it and when it dries it is shiny and nongreasy. you should try it out.

I has been my experience that you dont need a lot of the gel activator thats why you have the little white balls. I used the activator gel and regular curl activator when I went natural and it held the curl and moisture in my hair really well. I would only put it in maybe twice a week because it tends to get really greasy and dirty. So don't use to much of the curl gel!!!

@vdubb2012 The shingling method is when you section the hair (small sections) and rake and smooth the product into each section. You usually get better curl definition using that method versus putting the product on the entire head (at one time). Shingling is more time consuming though!
