I read the novel by Oscar Wilde when I was young but I never knew of this remake or heard of Ben Barnes til just this moment. Excellent video.He is gorgeous and captivating. I have to see this movie ASAP.

That one clip from it would've fit right into the actual movie, because my first impression was "sexy cockiness" when he popped that collar, but then I came to realize he was just casually adjusting his costume! XD;;; Guess Ben radiates sex appeal even when he's not trying >v> Anyway, great job on this video in general. It inspired me to get into Dorian Gray vid-making when I first saw this vid a while back.

Hey I remember him in Prince Caspian! Disney is all flowers and bunnies..WHOA he went from flowers and bunnies to murder and sex! That's one extreme character range! Yes I know there are critics out there, I might get hate for this but I thought Ben did a excellent job on this movie and potraying the character. Enjoy looking at him while you can! Great job! This should have been the theatrical trailer! If i'd seen this on tv, I would have gone to see the movie the same day! The music fits perfectly, and perfect timing! The way the music starts again at the exact time he turns around at 1.54... goosebumps!

Every woman I know or come across (including me) loves this movie & all the men hate it?! I find it's like a dark fairytale that draws me in, Everytime I sit down to watch it, its one of the most enjoyable movies & a top favourite.... I always find the end sad, it makes me shed a tear...... Dorian was deep inside still an innocent lad of barely 20, but at such a young age he was led astray & had too much power & too much of everything he could want at his finger tips whenever he wants.....
It was just so cool this film, this movie was awesome. I am 22 and realize I am going to get old one day, so I better enjoy my youth while I still have it because my grandparents etc say things start to go wrong with the body as it gets old. I look at myself in the mirror and look at my youthful skin going it isn't going to last I will get old, but I will still be young at heart as I still feel 17.
Just saw it. It's incredible what a mush could they have done from the original novel, but it's a great movie nonetheless, full of tension, lust and passion, a far cry from the other Dorian Gray adaptations that seem dull and boring by comparison, including the supposed "classic" from 1945. Colin Firth delivers a fantastic performance, and Ben Barnes... he's just perfect, exactly how Oscar Wilde might have imagined his most famous character.
This movie was awesome! If you want to see this whole movie for free in high quality Just google yslides and the site should come up first result. Ben knew exactly how to create two different characters. He showed us innocence in the beginning of the movie, transitioning to someone who's turned into something evil. The practice of Hedonism is a pretty hard thing to accomplish for such an actor and I thought he did a really believable and fantastic job. And he's beautiful, we can't forget that. :)
How dare they make this s**t and push it to the audience that it is the Oscar Wilde story. Anybody who thinks that this is better than the book had better spend time reading it. Must have been Americans behind the making of this.

OK, he's hot. But Wilde describes Dorian Gray as blond with an angelical face, like he seemed pure good and was evil. The truth was only reflected on the picture. This guy is sexy, but he doesn´t look like Dorian Gray to me. But let's wait to see the acting of course, it's a very complicated character to play...

At first I saw the movie and than I read the book. That's propably for the first time, when I love the movie and also the book. I recommend to do both.. I think that the book is really for muse.
i've seen the film and i've read the book not only once, and each time i hope the plot has changed and they end up as a happy couple... sadly enough, it's never been like that up to now ^^
But if the plotline changed for that, then Dorian wouldn't have given into his temptations and become the devilish man in the book, and then where would the story be?

Hey Saffron, No problem i know i will really enjoy watching it i like the Dorian Gray story i have seen an old version of a movie about Dorian Gray long time ago.
this movie left me speechless. I was so enchanted by the story line and the characters. My heart bled for Dorian's loss of innocence, but at the same time he was so sensual that i wanted to be one of the women in his bed. After this movie i found myself strangely attached. I find my mind wanders to the movie. it was darkly enchanting, i was so engrossed. Ben is a perfect Dorian... those moments when you could see him slipping deeper into the darkness... so amazing.
part1 I totally loved the film, I was left speechless & sat there in deep thought, I cannot find the words to describe it- shocking & certainly decadent. Ben Barnes seemed to fit perfectly for the part of Dorian Gray totally consumed in endless pleasures, guilt and...... evil.
Watching it you could see him becoming darker and lost in all that was wrong. Near the end I kind of wanted to see him move on and change sucessfully, although watching I knew all things like that must end. I was totally engrossed in the film, almost consumed by it myself! It leaves one feeling strange, like a love hate relationship mixed with fascination? I have never seen a film that has left me sat here.... quite like this!
As a huge fan of the book, I was not dissapointed with this movie, it´s a modern vision of the book. The picture is as creepy as the it is in the book, loved that. The add and change to make the movie more entertaintment, but the book is there aywaz.
The ending was so so I like the book eding better but anywayz this ending WORKs very good for the film. Good film!
The film is good, but the feeling it brings kind of different from the book. And I believe that I like the Dorian in the book more, and I like the ending of the book more.
@menybon76 you shouldn't compare the movie and the novel itself. The novel is one of my favourites and THIS screen version is the best (I can say it cause I've seen many others and can compare xD) but anyway they are different. Both great but not same. Inspite of this I should say that film however will show the athmosphere of the novel :)
I finally watched DG and love it!!!! Ben is so HOT!!! he showed a lot of skin in this movie and I'd say that his acting was superb!!! It wa also kina shocking seeing him kiss a guy. But this movie shows his versatility. Love yah Ben!!!
Lucky duck. I know some people who are living in London, and my cousin's family is living in Austria, so I figure that if i can't get it online, I can have one of them buy it for me. But it would be so great to see it in the theater!
As far as I am aware, it's still not on general release here. LadyVixxen thought the movie release date might be in April 2010, but I haven't seen anything to confirm that yet. The DVD is out in the UK in January 2010.
Ben Barnes is HOT? Check Daniil Strahov here on youtube. He would be far better Dorian Gray than Barnes is. Untill now Daniil plays this role only on stage. Daniil has not only the looks of a Dorian, but also his charm. I think Oscar Wild would agree with me.

Saw the trailer a couple months ago and got all hyped for nothing. No US release?! I'm going to be sooo disappointed if it doesn't come out here. It's one of my all-time favorite books, and the movie looks fantastic. Is it supposed to be Nov 4 09 or Apr 11 2010?
The November US dates were for a film market in order to get a US distributor......... I haven't heard of an official US release date yet. Where did you find that information? It will be wonderful if it is finally shown here sometime next year!!

I just finished watching the movie and I should confess that it couldn't keep up the excitement the trailer stirred in me.

part1 I totally loved the film, I was left speechless & sat there in deep thought, I cannot find the words to describe it- shocking & certainly decadent. Ben Barnes seemed to fit perfectly for the part of Dorian Gray totally consumed in endless pleasures, guilt and...... evil.

Watching it you could see him becoming darker and lost in all that was wrong. Near the end I kind of wanted to see him move on and change sucessfully, although watching I knew all things like that must end. I was totally engrossed in the film, almost consumed by it myself! It leaves one feeling strange, like a love hate relationship mixed with fascination? I have never seen a film that has left me sat here.... quite like this!

As a huge fan of the book, I was not dissapointed with this movie, it´s a modern vision of the book. The picture is as creepy as the it is in the book, loved that. The add and change to make the movie more entertaintment, but the book is there aywaz.
The ending was so so I like the book eding better but anywayz this ending WORKs very good for the film. Good film!

The film is good, but the feeling it brings kind of different from the book. And I believe that I like the Dorian in the book more, and I like the ending of the book more.

@menybon76 you shouldn't compare the movie and the novel itself. The novel is one of my favourites and THIS screen version is the best (I can say it cause I've seen many others and can compare xD) but anyway they are different. Both great but not same. Inspite of this I should say that film however will show the athmosphere of the novel :)

I finally watched DG and love it!!!! Ben is so HOT!!! he showed a lot of skin in this movie and I'd say that his acting was superb!!! It wa also kina shocking seeing him kiss a guy. But this movie shows his versatility. Love yah Ben!!!

As far as I am aware, it's still not on general release here. LadyVixxen thought the movie release date might be in April 2010, but I haven't seen anything to confirm that yet. The DVD is out in the UK in January 2010.

Ben Barnes is HOT? Check Daniil Strahov here on youtube. He would be far better Dorian Gray than Barnes is. Untill now Daniil plays this role only on stage. Daniil has not only the looks of a Dorian, but also his charm. I think Oscar Wild would agree with me.

Saw the trailer a couple months ago and got all hyped for nothing. No US release?! I'm going to be sooo disappointed if it doesn't come out here. It's one of my all-time favorite books, and the movie looks fantastic. Is it supposed to be Nov 4 09 or Apr 11 2010?

The November US dates were for a film market in order to get a US distributor......... I haven't heard of an official US release date yet. Where did you find that information? It will be wonderful if it is finally shown here sometime next year!!
