My Christ, Zooey Deschanel sucks in this movie....mind you, so does Mark "I coulda stopped 9/11 on my own, had I not been beating an elderly Asian guy half to death at the time' Wahlberg.
....so....the toxin didn't affect them because they broke off into smaller groups?
....Okay, I didn't exactly do well in biology while in school, but I'm going to do my best to bust this theory....toxins are particles in the air that mostly have negative effects on a human being WHEN BREATHED IN! IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THERE'S ONE PERSON IN THE AREA OR A MILLION. IF YOU BREATHE IN THE TOXIN IN THE AIR, YOU'RE GOING TO BE INFECTED!!!
I just realised that this movie is the most ridiculous film ever conceived...that scene when they were running through the field and the grass was shaking just blew my tiny mind...I'm dumbstruck! It would be funny if the plants were all whispering "lets do a dance for the humans....hey why are they running away. Ok, NOW i want to kill them"
Peyton Williams Manning (born March 24, 1976) is an American football quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL). Manning holds the record
for most NFL MVP awards with four. [1] He was drafted by the
Colts as the first overall pick in 1998 [2] after a standout college football career with the Tennessee Volunteers. He is the son of former NFL quarterback Archie Manning and the older brother of current New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning.
M Night needs to just make a normal movie. He's a good director. Just stop writing your shit. You pulled it off once or twice, and those were amazing. But that's it. It's done. You have terrible ideas now. Give it up and just stick to directing!!!
@asimov13647 Why? I like The English Patient and Out of Africa (just for Barry's score alone, it's totally worth it.) The Happening is just a different beast of a film, in a so bad it's hilarious type of a way.
@Hungryghost01 It's her sister. The one that is no longer relevant to me now that she's with that one from Death C... I can't finish their name. I'm going to lose everything I ate all week thus far - which isn't much really.
such a terrible movie. didnt help that the version i saw was like 2 inches lower on the screen than it should have been, so you could see the boom mic zip back and forth between characters in the scene where theyre sitting at the kitchen table with the old lady, and couldnt read the captions at the end when theyre in france or whereever. and this was in theaters!
@McflyMcMurderface Lawrence of Arabia wasn't bad either. Point is, as bad as someone can get it's possible for them to have at least one or two gems. Said gems can lead to that person producing pile after pile of cinematic feces in the belief that he is in fact defecating nine carat diamonds.
@MystikalQC She's now married to that whiny prick from Death Cab... I won't bother to finish it on the sake of an oncoming size increase of a likely brain tumor. You know whom I'm referring to so it's likely rubbed off onto her.
I can care less since I've always preferred Emily.
I went and saw lady in the water, just So I can see how bad this film was for myself. But this movie I passed on this one.
As for Airbender, I was never a fan of the toon. I think we might get a pastime with studio execs and people with too much money on their hands throwing cash at M Night just to see how he will frak up this time just for the tax write off.
maybe Nick can give him SpongeBob square pants. just to see what kind live action mess He will turn that into.
I didn't think it was a lousy concept, but it might have been executed a tad... inexpertly. The notion of a simple chemical radically altering behavior is not far fetched at all. Psychotropic drugs like lsd only need to be taken in micrograms. There are parasites that can alter behavior (for the needs of the parasite). The idea that the plants are doing it cause they're mad at us for polluting is probably where you lose an audience, I'm guessin'.
Yes, that was cringe-making; but what about Wahlberg's painful 'acting' as he spouts nonsense about 'identifying the variables,' as though any scientist would talk like that.
Rifftrax should to do Lady in the Water. Not only is the plot just stupid but it just shows how self-indulgent M. Night truly is. Most directors appear in cameos but M.Night not only plays a main character but he casts himself as an author whose ideas are so significant and revolutionary that they will change the world. If that isn't the sign of an egomaniac I don't know what is.
@onearmedbandit84 Change the world, yeah more lie Ideas that will ruin his career. A twist would be, his Ideas change things, but they brought the kind of change that Mein Kamph did. Then it would be more believable. Great concept for a TZ episode, some writer learns his MASTER WORK that he just published will one day wreak havoc upon civilization. There I just came up with an idea far better than this GENIUS ever did.
This movie was just awful. I mean damn, the actors weren't even trying. Why should they? Listen to the schlock at 0:38 in. No one speaks like that. It would have been painful to listen to w/o the riffers snickering in the background to make it funny.
@MarkCrilley13 Er... this is the scene in the movie, though. And most of the acting in the movie is like this. Are you saying that the whole movie is meant to be bad - sort of as an intentional B-movie?
alright, i'm not one of the people who thought the premise of the movie was dumb. M Night is obviously a big Hitchcock fan, this is him basically taking The Birds and making it The Plants. i'm down.
but this scene is just so awfully written. "wait! their group was slightly bigger!"
no one on earth would have come to that conclusion. ever.
Years ago, I saw Michael J. Nelson describe the movie selection criteria for MST3K. He said, in effect, that a movie has to be bad, but it has to be the right kind of bad. There has to be an intention of quality on the part of the filmmaker. There was a kind of insane gleam in his eye. Maybe he was envisioning M. Night Shyamalan's career trajectory.
@IngotAU What was the Star Wars Holiday Special, and Santa and the Ice Cream bunny? There was no intention of quality with those motion picture disasters.
@ben4711107 At the last one: You ACTUALLY watched that?! I'm avoiding that no matter what it costs. It was a great cartoon, but the concept is just NOT RIGHT for a feature-length movie. Unless it is also a cartoon. With giant warships and tanks and war balloons and giant drills and... I'm sorry, I seem to have begun ranting. Please wait while I reboot my CPU.
@ben4711107 You saw The Last Airbender at a midnight showing AFTER you saw Lady in the Water and The Happening? You threw away your 12 bucks man and you dont deserve it back.
@ben4711107 lmfao you went to the midnight opening of lat airbender, your fault for still going to shymalan movies when you know he was a one hit wonder
@ben4711107 I used to really like M Night, but I haven't seen any of his since The Village. The Village has it's good points, but the Happening, Lady in the Water, Last Airbender all looked so bad, so I didn't bother with them. Oh well, its a shame.
@ben4711107 ure really stupid, the Happening is more than just a good movie, it's brilliant. This scene seems so hilarious only cause you dont see the context. That's how psychothriller are done, Shyamalan made the acting in this scene on purpose, the actors were told to act like this, not cause they arent good actors. I wonder how blind & stupid people can be & call this movie not brilliant
@BozzBalkan Sorry dude, your argument isn't that solid. I've seen the movie, I was still laughing. As for it being a "psychothriller"... No. Just no. This movie is WAY too funny to hold more then a liter of seriousness. How can I take this movie seriously when actors are running away from WIND? And trying to hide from WIND?
Actually, I was literally laughing in the theater during this scene, after laughing at pretty much all the other scenes before it. "We can't just stand here as uninvolved observers!" I swear M. Night has never heard another person speak. "Tell us what to do, Elliot, you're the only one capable of thinking in our group and we will blindly follow what you say even though it apparently goes against our own consciences!" "Variables! Science! Okay, let's run away!" LOLWHAT
I wonder how much ritalin Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel were on when they filmed this movie. That's the only way I could see them prepare for these roles.
My god this movie was aweful. I really liked M Night until he started making shitty film after shitty film, since signs its been all down hill really. He works to hard for his twists and completely neglects the plot holes he leaves in his wake, early examples being the aliens coming to a water covered planet despite it being super corrosive to them, the people who tend the nature reserve not actually knowing whats in there and of course the killer plants, where to start on that one
HAHAHA you guys are hilariously brutal! But seriously how could anyone watch this clip and not rip it apart like this? I mean people told me that the Happening sucked, but I didn't realize that is was badly written, AND badly acted, AND badly directed. Not to mention Zooy Desha-something is super irritating in anything she's in.
35 people need to be reminded how to think.

The Sixth Sense-Awesome
Unbreakable-Cool
Signs-Okay...it did the job.
The Village-Stupid, but at least it had somewhat of a credible twist
Lady in The Water....Sigh......
The Happening......Beyond Stupid
The Last Airbender...I want my twelve bucks back and useful hours i could've got sleeping instead of going to the midnight opening.

Hello there Mr. Pseudo-intellectual!
BigJuicyx3 10 months ago
@BozzBalkan Sorry dude, your argument isn't that solid. I've seen the movie, I was still laughing. As for it being a "psychothriller"... No. Just no. This movie is WAY too funny to hold more then a liter of seriousness. How can I take this movie seriously when actors are running away from WIND? And trying to hide from WIND?
Blastermaster1942 9 months ago
@BozzBalkan

@BozzBalkan Your amazing spelling and grammar truly proves you are "brilliant". Or "ure" brilliant.

I wonder how much ritalin Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel were on when they filmed this movie. That's the only way I could see them prepare for these roles.
M Night is a joke.
kingj2038 1 year ago
My god this movie was aweful. I really liked M Night until he started making shitty film after shitty film, since signs its been all down hill really. He works to hard for his twists and completely neglects the plot holes he leaves in his wake, early examples being the aliens coming to a water covered planet despite it being super corrosive to them, the people who tend the nature reserve not actually knowing whats in there and of course the killer plants, where to start on that one
samthepsycicclam 1 year ago
HAHAHA you guys are hilariously brutal! But seriously how could anyone watch this clip and not rip it apart like this? I mean people told me that the Happening sucked, but I didn't realize that is was badly written, AND badly acted, AND badly directed. Not to mention Zooy Desha-something is super irritating in anything she's in.
