Via seems to be experimenting with baggage car service which had all but been eliminated in the late 1980s cutback. They now have those renaissance surplus cars which were unfinished and I guess they got Bombardier to plug the windows and turn them into luggage cars with standard couplings and power at one end.
I saw a similar arrangement on a montreal-ottawa train, and I was told that VIA wanted to bring back baggage service on that run.
Freat shot. They had the Renaissance Baggage Car (converted sleeper) on VIA 87 during the Christmas Holiday's a few times.I never heard on VIA 89. The VIA website onlysaid VIA 87.and Icould be wrong.
