Welldone! I´m just bought an Alesis Control Pad and I can´t make it work with my Reason, I am going down each minute. Do you know whow can I make that any pad works separately whit each sound control of the Redrum?? Well, take care, anyway!
So you can control Reason (or at least ReDrum) with an HR-16? I've got one that's in the shop, and I've got a recording interface with MIDI in/out on its way. Now I really wanna try this!
@1964SG I suppose it depends on the problem. I took mine to an electrical shop, but they weren't able to solve my problem (power jack connector issue & very muddy sound). Luckily for me, those are both problems that can probably be fixed on my own. If anything, take it to an electrical place & bring a copy of the service manual (you can find it online; Google it). What's wrong with it?
I had problem with it - the sequencer/pattern record wasn't working. The machine itself was sending only midi data when you hit the pads, nothing else worked except the settings.
What I did was some kind of a reset. I found that on some Alesis HR-16 fanpage. It was some combination of keys. This 'restored the factory settings' and everything is working since then.
in this case, it was connected to a PC using a MIDI-to-joyport cable/adapter which is cheap and available everywhere. this cable delivers the midi data from the drum machine to the Reason software and triggers what you assigned.
I love Alesis HR-16
