  • There we gp

  • ive been bitten twice by garter snakes and i had no issues w/ the wounds. the trick when handling snakes is to get a hold of them right behind the head, that way they cant turn and bite you. that was a mistake that i only made once.

  • Awsome

  • i live in wisconsin do you think i can catch a couple of garter snakes

    please reply

  • @TheRay2k yes

  • @Wildrsq thx for replying

  • watching this made me so happy. not only is he the cutest little kid ever with his safari hat and his "there we go" but you can def. tell he is excited and happy while spending time with his father, which is SUCH a great thing to see since it's so rare these days. and like stated earlier, it is GREAT that you are teaching him how to handle snakes and not be terrified of them. I love how he listens too. he goes SO slow after you tell him to slow down. absolutely amazing! hah thank you for sharing

  • @GoodJobBadJob Thank you for watching!

  • What country is this? And where are the located? I was looking for some to take picture

  • @TheTheRISKtaker they produce very mild neurotoxic venom harmless to most humans. Have been reports of people being allergic to their venom and having pain and swelling. But they can't produce enough venom to cause to much harm to even highly allergic people. They also have a very poor delivery system, they have to chew to release the venom from there glands, like most rear fanged snakes, example-hognose snake

  • Call of the Wild man!!! (junior version)

  • They do bite and de-fang them because they're a little venomous

  • @b3astiemaninLA garter snakes are harmless. my dad works for the Crocodile Conservation Center of Florida and i catch these snakes all the time and i get bitten but i don't feel anything but the bite.

  • @BLUDREDSOCKS but they are kinda venomous but not enough to kill you

  • @b3astiemaninLA Yeah.

  • @b3astiemaninLA dood garner snakes arnt venomous at all there harmless

  • i want one!!1 i already have two

  • I used to be afraid of snakes but my cat kept bringing living ones in my house and I was the only one in my family that had enough guts to take them out to the yard and every time it got easier and easier so I told my parents next one the cat brings in I'm keeping on my 17th birthday my cat got me a new pet for a present and I actually think their really cool now I feed it worms but I would like to know what else I can feed it because who wants to eat the same thing every meal

  • hes ginger. i hate gingers

  • why dislike the vid, i dnt know. some people are just ass holes :(

  • Brave Kid

  • he is barver then me D:

  • Aw! When your son said, "There he goes!" I just smiled! Made my day.

  • I guess I was good to these snakes, none ever tried to bite me. Though I used to wonder if its pointed tongue was poisonous (obviously not).

  • that kid has balls

  • I really love seeing kids with reptiles just having fun and digging it!!!

  • I 11 and my snake ran away when I was sleeping

  • I live by a cornfield and by the edge there's these two thin pieces of wood and under that is one rat hole each( we call it the rats nest ) we hang out there and such but what we noticed is that garder snakes hang around to eat I'm looking forward to catch one

  • i might get one... i heard there like 20 bucks but not bad cuz life span is like 10yrs.

  • @TheMgStudios i can get them foe free in where i live

  • there arent a lot of little kids that will hold a snake

  • I have two snakes in my backyard that I've been assuming were garners but one bit me on the hand a while ago(had to move him out of the way) hurt like hell and damn it was very fast. I've also noticed that they both are very feisty (what wild animal isn't) Anywho my question is if anyone knows what kind of snake it could be. It's sort of a greyish black, long/thin. Has no markings, just one color cept for bottom which is white at least I think. Anyone have a guess? It's in Washington State

  • I got many garters and I have been bit and I have to agree with the below comment by PPKDude852, because I have gotten bite and it did swell n get itchy AND i have bad allergies to things bu amazingly the bit did not bother me

  • You know, Garter Snakes do carry a mild neurotoxic venom with their bite. Nothing serious, of course. But if you ever are bitten then you'll start to experience that the area around the bite swells a little and gets itchy. It may even be a little numb.

  • where did u get all of those garters

  • Mad props to that little kid! I'm terrified of snakes so just trying to grab a little snake I think I'd shit my pants!

  • @Chaosism123 Dude, do you have to be dis-responds the video owner?

  • Nice one getting the little fella confident early :) thumbs up dude

  • Nice one getting the little fella confident early :) thumbs up dude

  • i just found one in

my garden and WOW that kid is brave!

  • wow brave kid ya got there

  • They do bite I have gotten bitten very many times in my life.

  • I love snakes

  • Awwhe, he's just like me! I have two milk snakes and a Garter snake, and my male milk snake and my garter have never bitten. My Female milk snake is vicious. =] But it's okay, it's her nature, I still adore her.

  • just some advice: when handling garter snakes well snakes in general dont be jumpy around them ( in detail dont be shaking your hand or put your hand in and jerk it back) because it scares them and they snakes tend to bite when threatened or scared....... nice job catching all of those snakes just wish i could catch one soon :(

  • Did you catch all of these?

  • @MyJohnsonable My son(the one in the video) caught them all in a lady's yard. :)

  • Lol i found a garter snake earlier on the sidewalk and i went to buy it a cage when i came home it was dead :(

  • Cool Snake. But yes, they do bite. My husband just let my son hold a small garter snake, and it bit him. He had blood coming from 4 small puncture wounds. He didn't cry, but he said it did hurt! So beware, just don't let the kids hold the snakes. They can look and Ooh and Ahh, but leave it at that!!!:)

  • @4evrluvmykids We find and handle snakes all the time. While these snake can and sometimes do bite, they are completely harmless and shouldn't be feared. They normally wont bite unless they feel threatened or are defending themselves. You should see the size of some of the bull-snakes we find,5-6 feet long ;)

  • @Wildrsq yeah garters tend to let out a lovely stink when they get scared. and truthfully i find NOTHING wrong with this video. when I was a kid I always caught garter snakes and truthfully, when i chased them and they went into a crevice i couldnt get them, i would use my finger as bait. once they bit me i would pull them out. I was his age when i started it so even IF one of these guys bit him out of fear (not food) it really wouldnt hurt, and like stated earlier it is completely harmless.

  • @4evrluvmykids i hope u tuk him 2 d hospital

  • FINALY SOMEONE, WHO TEACH HIS KID TO HANDEL SNAKES IN A GOOD WAY.COMPLIMENTS FROM SPAIN

  • @manolodlospavos Thank you! Thanks for watching

  • Kid's born for herping

  • that snake was huge!

  • Brave Kid :)

  • Really nice!

  • @jj1x0 stop being stupid and i will

  • My older bro and I kept a garder snake for about a month and it never harmed us in anyway.

  • Just reading some of these comments. Wow/ people sure don't know much about garter snakes. Cool vid though.

  • Wow some people just dont know what they're talking bout when it comes to snakes and then there the one feeling dumb at the end.. -__-

  • brave kid

  • damn.. im 14 and i wouldnt do that..

  • DOOOD DOOD DOOD that kids got more balls than me

  • good job little kid you were brave

  • Not all snakes have teeth, But 98% do, and yes these snakes will bite you. Normally under 20in the bite is nothing to worry about (Garter ONLY!). I have 4 Garter snakes. They do bite time to time, while im playing or feeding. Nothing "big". My Rattle snake has not tried to strike me yet, and im not sure why - but he IS VENOM yet. My Copperhead and both Cobras Will strike / try to strike when you even get near their case. My one KC cobra Vorlock is boun kill me yet. Im trying a cross breed w him.

  • Freeak

  • ok guys most people thinks a garter snake have no teeth but they do but they are so small i dont consider it teeth and they can bite u and bleed u but its a can not a will its quite often they bite and u dont realize it

  • This kid has more guts than me, period.

  • this was me except i walked in to the house with one in each hand, when i was 5 and showed my mom. She wasnt to happy that they were lunging at her and not me

  • I just saw one next to my door. I was going to kill it but I had to do research and find out that these snakes are no threat to man. So grabbed a stick and let it loose on a tree. However if it was a rattle snake, it's dead on the spot as I have no need for dangerous snakes.

  • @dozerconstruction i kinda agree kinda o.O

  • Everyone seems to be in a controversy about garter snakes and their venom. Garter snakes DO have venom in their back teeth. This venom is released through a chewing motion. However, the venom is mild and will not have a dangerous effect on a human. The most that will happen when you are bitten is you will experience the bite area becoming itchy and it may swell a little. There have been no cases reporting serious injury from these snakes. Btw your son is a brave little guy :) great video!

  • haha garter snakes will bite too! I got bit by one that chewed my hand for about 3 minutes and sure enough my hand swelled up from their mild rear fang venom.

  • I had a garter for around a year as a pet. never bit me. I never had a problem and I was told they had no teeth...Ive just youtubed/googled these and erm...apparently they have teeth! Loved the video. too cute! Thumbs up!

  • yes but it dosnt hurt

  • @MyJazzify u prettysure the caught them and if you but garter snakes that type usually about 5 dollors maby

  • how much did the snakes cost

  • @MyJazzify hahahaha good one XD !!!

  • uh they have teeth and it does hurt but not that bad its more of a stinging pain and as proof in 3 days i will make a video of me getting bit by one

  • brave little guy

  • Yes, they do. XD

  • very nice snake to have i would like to have one some day when i get some more room in my reptile room lol

  • i wish i had one of those

  • They do have teeth people....all snakes do they just don't have longer fangs like poisonous snakes have. They do bite but it doesn't hurt really. My credentials: raised on a 748 acre farm in Alabama you could say I've seen alot! I've been bitten twice, once on the foot(flip flops are dumb to wear out in cotton fields) and once on the hand.

  • @LedZeppelin13k7

Apparently they have a set of venomous teetch in the back of their jaws behind their eyes. The venom is released while they chew. It's mild. I just read about it.

  • yeah they bite but it doest hurt to bad. why are you letting them out anyway

  • 0NEVERHIDE0 im 14 female and has 22ft burmesse albino python ball pythons corn snakes milk snakes so im not scared loser

  • And FYI just as the uploader of this video suggests, garter snakes DO infact have teeth that are considerably small compared to other snakes but can draw blood. Fortunately these fun and beautiful snakes are harmless and do not possess any venom that is harmful to humans.

    Great vid!

    --Jav

  • this kid doesnt afraid of anything

  • holy crap a freaking little kid can do that but i cant

  • @jj1x0 Yes they do!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @jj1x0 They lots of teeth!

  • @Wildrsq ive dealed withn alot of garter snakes, they never bite me but they do hate me, my mom was so scared when she saw the first one

  • @Wildrsq ive caught 9 garter snakes before...i think i know if they have teeth or not and they dont!

  • @Wildrsq well deppending on the size those ones have some teeth probably but bot enought o break skin still its not to comfortable when they hang on

  • @Wildrsq It does have teeth. it can still bite u. but it wont kill you

  • @jj1x0 they do have teeth but they are small and needle like they dont hurt that much

  • @jj1x0 they have little teeth but they wont hurt u

  • @jj1x0

As wildrsq said they do have teeth. How else do they eat? Besides you can read all about their teeth on the internet.

  • @mosaicglass yea, maybe really small spores, but they eat small frogs, grasshoppers other small insects they eat them whole

  • @jj1x0

I see what you are saying. THey do eat their prey whole but they don't suck it down they walk it back with their teeth. Perhaps that is when the mild venom from the back of their jaws releases into their prey making it easier to swallow

  • @mosaicglass garter snakes dont have venom

  • @jj1x0

That was what everyone thought until recently. They have venom in their back teeth. It is mild. All you have to do is a small amount of research on the internet to find these things out.

  • @jj1x0 mot idiotic comment ive seen about snakes

  • @jj1x0 ya they have teeth moron!

  • @jj1x0 Every snake has teeth. How do you think they hold food in their mouths..? dumb ass...

  • @d1sturb3d0ne ya ya whatever the hell ya say fuckass

  • @jj1x0 ROFL. What no witty retort? Why do I see so many stupid people commenting on youtube? It's like a virus.

Do the world a favor and go kill yourself please.

  • @d1sturb3d0ne ive caught tons of snakes and they never hurt me

  • @jj1x0 Just because they've never hurt you doesn't mean that they don't have teeth. Look it up in an encyclopedia.

  • @jj1x0 ALL snakes have teeth...

  • @jj1x0 ur an idiot, its a fuckin garter snake

  • @fulforddude just stop commenting me, this is gettin as old as it as annoying

  • @jj1x0 yeah they do, and its been confirmed that they also have venom glands in their back teeth for killing prey. I've been bitten, and it doesn't really hurt unless they get you with those back teeth, then it itches really bad, and it bleeds for a while, and if your allergic it can cause some serious complications. They have many little teeth and they hold on very well.

  • @jj1x0 You sir, are the worst dumb ass I have ever seen in the history of my 19 year life.

  • @jj1x0 they can still bite dum ass

  • if they bite u they bite u as long as its not like a rattle snake or something u will be find and most the time they dont bite u after the frist time u pick them up..

  • I have a question. My mom found a baby Garter in my dad's drive way, and she kept him/her as a pet. and i brought him in from sunning today. and now i can't find him in his cage, its nearly impossible for him to get out of the cage, cause its 5 gallons deep (it might be 10) and i simply can't find him. any suggestions?

  • @phsycicchild24 hes in there they hide really well

he might ofgotten out but its unlkely

  • They rarely bite, but it doesn't hurt at all. I just got bitten yesterday. How many garters did you have in that cage?

  • I got a crap load in my back yard I live near a

Creek so I see about 3 to 6 a day.

  • garder snakes acctualy produce a very mild nurotoxin and they will bite

  • @therealsportsmam lol NO they dont

  • wish i had a garter snake

  • possibly if you irritate them enough but if you keep them calm then they wont bite. If they do bite then its not venomous at all. Your son would only receive small wounds thats all.

  • your son has more guts than me xD i got a scorpion (an emperor, the big black ones. the sting isnt bad, its the claws that hurt) and it was maybe only 2 inches big. i NEVER touched it EVER lol. not even when it died, did i touch it lol. so he has some guts to be able to pick up a snake that easily

  • i used to have one...didnt hurt me once :)

  • were did you catch them from?? and can you catch them in the u.k??

  • No they don't bite with venim but will just bite.

  • i think its great you are teaching your kid to LIKE snakes instead of hate them. I personally have a 6 foot male boa constrictor and a 4 foot jungle carpet python! This world needs more people like you and your kid!

  • they do bite but not hard at all. It felt like 2 little pin pricks

  • where did you find them all???

  • do i hear a shepherd in the background

  • where did you find all them? and how many did you find?

  • whenever i try to catch those they are way to fast when they run so i just leave them

  • snakes cant tell the difference beetween ur hand and the ground and their dont bite when they jump at u its just a bluff to scare u

  • @skellens42 They can tell the difference between your hand and the ground.

  • @Wildrsq will they bite u? and are they posionous??

  • @OmniStif31 yes they will bite, it doesn't hurt though. and the way to tell if a snake is poisonus is if it has a triangular shaped head. these guys aren't poisonus.

  • @OmniStif31 and this is also my own stupidity but the correct term is venomous haha

  • @Wildrsq no they cant

  • @skellens42 That's not true at all

  • @skellens42 You don't know much about snakes, do you? They can tell the difference, and it is not always a bluff. If threatened a snake will strike, will bite, and you will feel it.

  • I caught one of these in my backyard today

  • snakes are just magnificant.. the way they move.

  • Garter snakes are fun to catch To not get bitten just slowly grab it by its tail and work your way up and it wont bite

  • Just goes to show that Garter snakes are not aggressive if you just accomodate to their needs. ~ Just got a Garter as a pet. Excellent work guys.

  • WOW! He is so brave! I'm 20 and my cats love to bring these snakes to me as presents!!! I have to get my boyfriend to get them out of the house! Nice vid and cute kid!

  • brave kid

  • cute snakes

  • whered u get em all ? did u breed them ?

  • you dont move slow when you catch them i feild herp for big boas and pythons and monitor lizards you quickly grab it by its head (neck) what ever you wanna call it but just a heads up

  • we have these things in our yard.caught a few before but couldnt get them to eat. so i let them go in our garden.tried giving them worms.all thats coming to a end because in recent years skunks started infesting our neighborhoods (dont know where they came from) and one of the things they eat is garter snakes.

  • when dose the gerter snake come out of hibernaiton

  • wait did u like hatch them or something or did you just catch them and let them go

  • We caught them and let them go.

  • Reminds me of when I was kid catching all the snakes I could find! Its funny, that is how I met my first girlfriend too, she loved catching snakes as well.

  • im a girl and i was like "pick him up!" pick him up" lol

  • Be so pissed if someone let a snake out in my yard....

  • We let them go in our backyard and had fun.

  • @lawlawlowned

should go around the neighbor hood letting them go in other peoples yards lol

  • how thik do garter snakes get
