This band does so well just because of the fact that they have nothing better to do but march. Flower Mound Texas is a dinky little town. I wouldn't be surprised if more than half of the towns high school students where in the band.
WOW. I don't think anyone could have done better. I'm a Flower Mound alum, and former band member. I see why Marcus always dominates! I'm proud of my old band, but we just could not perform this well in marching. And now they use metronomes during performances!!!! >:( Out of curiosity, do freshman march during competition?
The marcus band competes in BOA as well as San Antonio. They Compete every year in BOA Super Regionals in San Antonio. In 2009 they went to BOA Grand Nationals for the first time and placed 4th and was awarded the "Music" caption.
When I went to state with the band it was an honor to watch the marcus band preform, they did amazing on playing and marching, it was one of my favorite shows and just cograts to the band for makin 1st in state :D
@WoahDangItsChang They were the alternitive students. as well as the people behind the front screens, podiums, props, and the feature charecters this year, shadows.
@thestared They are actually called Red Block. These were the students that did not have a marching spot in the show. All kids have the opportunity to compete for a spot if they did not get one starting off. Some of them are the double reed instruments that are not used in the show.
This school's marching band is sooooo amazing!!!!!!! I would like to ask you some questions tho :) What is the song called when the flute and trumpet duet plays? I think its a song from Mozart but I'm not sure ;) And why doesn't this school enter BOA (Bands of America) competition? Great job overall! You deserved to win!
@antixarchangel Oh I knew ya had won state like about 3 times in a row now I believe :) I was just wondering about the BOA thing because I never heard of this band ever competing in it and i was like "why dont they compete?!" but congrats on the win!
@AexP1 I'm not from this school, but I'm pretty sure I heard Mozart's Queen of the Midnight Aria as well as some Franz Liszt...spectacular! So sad I missed it :(
Im scared to go in marcus band next year and gonna be in drum line OH GOD :(

What a great and clean performance! I am jealous of the skill level of the Marcus players.

Damn, that brass was like Corps quality. And nice crisp clean drums. PLUS in sync colorguard. Bravo, definitely deserved best Band in Texas.
