  • this is how a god of war movie supposed to look like

  • Just I notice that the song is Kashmir - Led Zeppelin

  • i swear when that things blood spilled on him i thought he we a navi

  • A very fancy movie. CG dosen't bring excitement anymore.

  • @freemancarl At least its based on a book with a great story

  • Oh man, the first trailer was mind blowing because it was dramatic and deep. But now this one is just like some Summer action flick. I hope the movie will be dramatic and deep

  • Beware Beware the Earthborn comes

  • There is a wealth of fantasy and science fiction stories that Hollywood could dip into for films. This is the sort of thing they can do well and could do fabulously well these days with modern CGI techniques and some good writing. I used to love Edgar Rice Burroughs stories when I was a kikd. I hope they do a good job on this film. The trailer makes it look promising.

  • Out of curiosity, does anyone know if comic book writer Alex Raymond used Edgar Rice Burroughs 'John Carter' series as inspiration for his 'Flash Gordon' comics? The two stories do seem similiar.

  • disney = fail

  • Avatar +tron + star wars + imb

  • cant wait!!

  • EPIIICCCCC!!!!

  • this one was writen in 1915 actually, it's more way original then star wars and other shits

  • Star wars avatar

  • you are ugly but u're beautiful, u'll fight for us ... wtf with his brain @@

  • Looks like Planet Hulk

  • Hey, weird. The movie's not out yet, but there's already a review. Check this out:

    doriensez.blogspot.com

  • can i find the music on this anywhere?

  • @nperry96 Amazon.com will have it March 6th for $14.14. That's 3 days before the Movie premieres.

  • What's the song? It sounds sick. :)

  • this would have been a great Planet Hulk movie

  • They really need to start doing some heavy advertising on this film. Less them 2 months to go until its release and i havnt heard any buzz about this movie

  • Does anyone know what song [and its artist] was used in this trailer?

  • @iJazz13 Nevermind, found it! :)

  • Those ships are just SWEET.

This doesn't look like a Disney movie, but it certainly looks awesome.

  • This is the only thing missing in Skyrim.

  • amazing movie ..

  • I thought it was a movie about doctor John Carter from ER!!!!!

  • 00:25 I didn't know there was an Avatar cameo!

  • @dramaqueen465 Huh, how? He is covered in blood that happens to be blue? Does avatar own the color blue?

  • @Ralokone He's giving a rousing speech in a trailer while blue. Other weird visual echoes include the arena fight which is like Attack of the Clones with the Achilles one-shit-kill from the start of Troy, and the bit with the woman in the glowing temple which looks a bit like the Tree of Souls ponytail uplink scene with Neytiri.

  • @IncredibleGoliath You are making completely random connections you know that? You are saying that and arena resembles and arena . . you might aswell bitch that he has legs because the characters in jurassic park has legs!

There is no tree, nor indication of a ponytail link up in that temple, and what are you talkign about troy for?

also, this is an adaption of a book written in 1912, before star wars, avatar, and the MOVIE troy existed

also troy didnt invent one shot kills

  • @Ralokone When the book was written is beside the point (although I did happen to know about it). The film is going to play to people who've seen Avatar and don't know about the book, so things that look like rip-offs are going to be assumed to be rip-offs. Is that fair? Probably not. Does it mean the film-makers should have made an effort to avoid things that would have seemed like lifts from recent films? Arguably it does.

  • @IncredibleGoliath You have already dug yourself into a hole, no sense pretending you knew what you were talking about and defending your completely nullified position

also attack of the clones came out ten years ago, and troy eight . . . they arent exactly recent . . .

  • @Ralokone The success of this movie is obviously of personal importance for you for some reason. I didn't mean to shake your taste for liking something that seems so obviously derivative, just relate my own impressions on watching the trailer. I hope the film lives up to both of our expectations. :-)

  • @IncredibleGoliath It is NOT derivative, you are latching onto thigns that make no sense. One shot kills were not invented from troy (that is from the book btw), arenas were not invented by attack of the clones (from the original book btw), and glowing lines on the ground shares no similarity with attaching your hair to a tree other than the fact the tree glowed.

you are are either mentally retarded or a fucking liar and I am in no mood to deal with it

  • @Ralokone I was being ironic about it being derivative, you silly. I already told you I know about the books. You still haven't understood the point of my first comment, lol, yet insist that I'm the mentally deficient one. Too hilarious... XD

  • @Ralokone The scene in Attack of the Clones WAS actually influenced completely by John Carter so that's far from random. So many things from the books have been used in recent sci-fi films which makes this film look like a huge cliché, which might make it suffer. I hope it doesn't because I like the books, but I fear it might.

  • @IncredibleGoliath My God you must have an IQ less than my shoe size. John Carter was written in 1912 dipshit. Almost a century before Avatar, Attack of the Clones, and Troy were even conceptualized.

  • @TheManMostMysterious Technically not troy, but I think the one shot kill thing is not unique to troy . . .

If that is a similarity then he might aswell say John Carter resembles pokemon

  • @IncredibleGoliath The scene is Attack of the Clones WAS influenced by this, so you're completely right on that!

  • the first trailer was better

  • Anyone elnse just watchin trailers?

  • 0:37 I was skeptical of Taylor Kitch in the role since he doesn't look nearly as masculine or ripped as I imagined the character to be from the Frazetta paintings, but he sold me with the way he says the line: "Yes, ma'am."

  • Aw yeah. John Carter is like Superman, Captain Kirk, and Han Solo all rolled up into one.

  • It looks interesting.

There are many tales yet to be told that have much in common with those already spoken.

They should be weighed alone, and judged solely on their own merits.

  • 1:15 freaking hard scoper... >:(

  • I can see there are a lot of ignorant people who go throwing out of their mouths anything they don't investigate. do not criticize until you read one of the books in a series of 11. I would suggest reading the first book (A Princess of Mars) and then decide. Probably can't ready anyway.

  • this is actually done by the people behind pixar so should be good. have to say though some of the costumes look fucking gay

  • OH NO IT'S DONE BY DISNEY...

say goodbye to violence, blood, sex or anything remotely interesting. Thank you disney for ruining absolutely everything just so a 10 year old is "allowed" to watch it, who probably won't understand it anyways.

Besides...I watched way worse shit and I was much younger...so ratings are bullshit anyway.

  • @Octavian88mtl Disney made the Pirates of the Carribean series. Plenty of blood and violence in those movies

  • So many ignorant comments from stupid people...

  • he isnt superhuman, Gravity on Mars is less than Earth's gravity, and so since he's used to earth's gravity, he can jump extremely high and has more power in his strikes on mars

  • 0:50 what's the name of the song?

  • i want to know the song of this video.. i forgot the name of this tone...

  • @lulutor09 Kashmir by led Zeppelin

  • So many ignorant comments.

Obviously you people don't know Edgar Rice Burroughs and his fantastic sci-fi novels.

  • @warnation101 I agree, dumb asses on the internet are almost too common

  • @warnation101 And how is anyone supposed to know this is Edgar Rice Burroughs? It's called JOHN CARTER, not JOHN CARTER OF MARS. It could be about anything. Obviously people who know the former title know it's made from the BARSOOM, and not the "John Carter" series, for which there is no such thing. I have not seen the word "Barsoom" anywhere in these comments.

  • in da future will be 1080p like minecraft :D

  • With all of these VFX Disney still can suck Cameron's dick!

  • Hey Burroughs fans, no matter if this film good or not, let's go and pay for a ticket anyway, this looks good enough as an attempt of adaptation! The greatest fantasy/sci-fi sagas of them all, together with his "Venus series"... I don't care if babies will be comparing this to their Avatar, i just finally want to see ANY adaptation! Don't care if Carter looks too young here and Dejah isn't good enough, still wanna see this film, the most anticipated film of 2012!

  • lolx paint them blue and it'll be avatar

  • This is more original than Avatar or Star Wars.

  • @sinisterkat44 Ya, this is based off a book that predates both (1917)

  • @TheRealBarnez so wouldn't that mean by definition it's not original? ;)

  • @sinisterkat44 thats because its based on a novel w/c inspired those 2 movies but dont be hating dude peace ^^

  • what was Jabbas sail barge doing there?

  • sooo when are the clones attacking?

  • star wars.. no doubt about it, the set looks the same as star wars 2 attack of the clones..

  • So we had grown up intergalactic smurfs and now... what are these supposed to be?

  • @KingVegeta80 The Navi were not an intergalactic species (rather a haphazardly cobbled together race with no discernible originality to culture, but certainly not resembling the smurfs who at the very least had original and interesting concepts unique to their culture)

These are just supposed to be monster . . .really that is how they are in the book, they are heartless, they laugh at pain and suffering and John Carter kills takes over their civilization and uses them as pawns

  • song pls

  • John Carter's Dog is So Cute!!! I Want one": )

  • Kashmir bitch

  • u r ugly... but u r beautiful.. u will fight for us... hahaha.. hu's john carter anyway? sori about asking but i havent read the book.

  • Thumbs up if you read the books years ago and are rereading them in anticipation of the movie.

  • This movie looks like total shit.. Just my opinion

  • This looks good...

  • @RTDavis0503 If anything, Cameron ripped off Burroughs.

  • @bubbyeater You can say that again

  • Il tell you what looks fake the fact there would be swear words in it crap

  • Looks good and all, but the aliens looks really fake.

  • @ostsgamesandmovies are you twelve? Just asking . . .are you twelve? You realize that they arent real right? and that they have no obligation to look real! And that the aliens have never looked real in any movie ever . . . you realize these things right?

  • looks cool!

  • omg its Gambit from xmen.. <3

  • I see an Avatar flashback

  • I want to see this movie. It looks like a good movie.

  • Anyone else getting a Planet Hulk flashback?

  • For all of you who think this is a rip off of Avatar or any other RECENT fantasy movie, you are GRAVELLY mistaken. This movie is based off of a best selling series of John Carter novels written by the great sci fi author Edgar Rice Burroughs in 1912! None of the creators of Avatar was even alive..I read this novel..its great

  • @RTDavis0503 Gravely, even! lol

  • @morpheusxnyc Lol, I like the snagglepuss tone! lol...

  • @RTDavis0503 lol

  • @RTDavis0503 just because of the source material is like 90 years old doesn't mean the visual style of a movie made in 2011 can't heavily draw from and be indebted to the highest grossing movie of all time

  • @guochocinco I assume you are talking about avatar right? You do know that James Cameron admitted to a Burroughs influence (the creator of John Carter)

as for visuals, there really isnt much that resembles avatar in any way . . . . really there isnt, the aliens are tall but they dont look like Navi, the animals have multiple limbs, but that is from the books . . . and there is beautiful desert landscapes . . . which is not samething avatar is known for

  • @guochocinco True, but I read the books and the imagery is just as the author described ( and the artist depicted on the books reprinted cover!) lol

  • @RTDavis0503 I Heartily agree, This Tale Came From the Dude who Wrote TARZAN.... Truly Badass Characters!!!

  • @zaberfang Burroughs was an even better sci fi writer..that's when I became a fan..George Lucas pulled a lot from him

  • @RTDavis0503 it's just people with their head stuck up their own ass because apparently a man on an alien planet must be a rip off lol XD

  • @iHaveOneArm Right!! They don't know this story inpired the story of Superman..man goes to a strange world and gets super powers due to the gravity (or in Supes case the Sun)

  • @RTDavis0503 didnt know that detail thats pretty cool thought :o

  • @iHaveOneArm this film was actually based off a book called "a prince of mars" so...yeah, tell that to the people next time they be pissing you off

  • @ninjabastard2 The first book by Edgar Rice Burroughs about John Carter was called "A Princess of Mars". Princess referred to the Martian woman Dejah Thoris who was John Carter's chick in the book.

  • @DrZook yeah that's what i said okay so i said prince and not princess you got what i meant right?

  • @RTDavis0503 i loved the books my uncle introduced them to me like 10 years ago and by far the second novel is my favorite but i am so excited about this movie

  • @furryindustries My big brother was a huge sci fi nerd and it actually was his books I read, The Princess of Mars is the one this movie is based on..mostly. First one I read

  • @RTDavis0503 Read the book at your recommendation. Came back to say thank you, it was awesome and I look forward to reading the others in the series!

  • @darkfire532 Pretty good book to be written in 1912 right?

  • @RTDavis0503 I can easily see why it inspired modern day science fiction and fantasy

  • Tim Riggins!!!!!!

  • @Ralokone - plus..don't forget the gravity on Mars is less than Earth's....great story BTW ("Princess....). Got it as an ebook and rereading the tale after so many decades. Glad to see Hollywood finally made a decent movie recently

  • American films are going Asian... now all heroes can fly in the air make super jumps.. and shit like that zzzzz

  • @kambalu John Carter, adaption of "A princess of mars" written by AMERICAN author Edgar Rice Burroughs beetween the years 1911 and 1912 released during that time in serialized increments

  • @kambalu low gravity maybe?

  • @Masterdeefy1 correct

  • Aliens don't stand a chance against Led Zep.

  • disney?

  • John Carter is one handsome motherfucker :)

  • So freakin happy they finally made a movie for of John Carter from Burroughs Barsoom series. I first read the book A Princes of Mars in like seventh grade and was hooked. I ended up reading most of the other books in the Barsoom series Warlords of Mars being my second favorite. I wonder if the movie is based soley on the first book? Tars Tarkas looks almost like I would have imagined him. Cant wait to see this movie in March.

  • What's the name of the mix of the song throughout the latter half of the trailer? I know it's lifting the rhythm from Come With Me by Puff Daddy (which lifted the beat from Kashmir by Led Zeppelin) but is there a place where I can find the mix used in this trailer?

  • likes

  • i was like "holy shit this looks amazing!" then i say disney on top of the title and i said "FUCK!!!!"

  • @ialrai WHY if it is amazing, it is amazong . . . are you saying you are going to specifically dislike it because of the fucking people who made it

    that is fucking petty!

  • I have read all these books many times, and I can say, that star wars have copyed very very much from them!

  • Wtf is the tubby lady doing to the alien at 1:32 ?

  • CANT WAIT FOR THIS.

  • another holywood shit....

  • To clarify for everyone who doesn't know: the John Carter/Barsoom stories came out in the early 1900s. They, along with other early science fiction works, are the basis of science fiction today. James Cameron created Avatar out of his inspiration from John Carter. Star Wars, Star Trek, and basically many other alien-related stories can be traced back to Edgar Rice Burroughs, John Carter, and the Barsoom novels.

    Just FYI. :)

  • @sknhpotter618 pfft. I thought Avatar was based off of Dances with wolves. Guy leaves his people to live amongst the natives. meets girl. fights back at his own people. 3 hours long. yep.

  • At 1:07, this looks likes the desintegration rays of Phor Tak. That wouldn't really fit into the chronology...

  • @Rigo0Jancsi No it doesnt, but you cannot say that it doesnt fit into the mythology!

  • Finally, here comes the warlord of mars. Go, get your princess, chiftain!

  • Pixar making the effects... so i guess it will be worth of looking

  • The three greatest badasses in the Universe. Chuck Norris, John Carter, Tars Tarkas. Superman is somehwere down around 5th place :P

  • Yeah, Mark Strong always plays the best bad guys.

  • Comment removed

  • @dhritmanbatchu

Sued for saving Avatar is bad.

  • Tars Tarkas is a badarse, John Carter is hella badarse. This movie is going to rock my shit.

  • To all the stupid, illiterate fucking assholes comparing this to Star Wars, Avatar etc., the book this film is based on is almost a century old, or even older possibly. Avatar was a derivative piece of shit and Star Wars was a campy, childish piece of shit that derived from mythologies throughout history.

  • it's called "Princess of Mars" by ERB

  • common, read the dam book kidos

  • what the hell is wrong with you kids, the book has been here longer then me, and im 44, read (google it) it, its an awesome series of books by ER Burroughs

  • i can tell this is gona suck i mean the Grean aliens are nothing like the ones in the bloody book, plus this is disney, Plus that scene in the opening never happened like that. Why make a film if your just going to fuck up the source.

  • @adsasfd They hardly look any different from the books description!

what you mean to say is

"based on the description I imagined the aliens differently, and thus that is the only way they can be"

other people are allowed to imagine things differently than you

and I fail to see how changing the opening scene (which hardly affects anything in the series) will fuck things up

  • @Ralokone In the books the green aliens are described as great big huge beast giants compared to john. So its more astonishing when he fells one with a single blow. These aliens look cute like a disney movie (yes i know its a disney move) i'm open to change but to change the whole feeling and look of a story is a step too far. I wonder if the ending is the same i mean come on that ending was brilliant. The opening scene is very important its when he meets kans kartos who helps him escape.

  • @adsasfd NO! That is not the beginning of a princess of mars, he doesnt even meet kantos kan until halfway through the book!

I presume you mean when he meets Tars Tarkas at the incubator! That part is kept, the events on earth are changes around a bit though (but he still dies in a cave to my knowledge!)

and I am sure the ending is the same!

  • @Ralokone yea thats what i meant i'm just being a bitch cos i love these books and hope disney dont buttfuck the shit out of this great story.

  • @adsasfd Honestly, I dont care how much they change the story . . . I care more about how much they change the world itself, they can do anything they like to the story but the world of barsoom . . . that needs to star as barsoom as can be to me!

For example, if there was a Calot Tree (warlord of mars) in this film, I would be okay with it, because it is something from the universe!

let us just aggree that it will be better than Asylums princess of mars XD

  • @Ralokone True, that movie was awful lol. Lets hope we get a good movie but i would feel more at ease if A director such as Peter Jackson made this movie.

  • @adsasfd peter jackson is asking for alot . . . you should look at his pre LOTR resume, not exactly inspiring! Sure he is brilliant, but you wouldnt think he was capable of the LOTR style of epic based on his previous work!

and truth be told, Asylums princess is not the worst adaption of a book to film I have seen, that is probably why it is so painful to watch though. Because some of the right elements adn structure is there, just poorly executed!

  • @Ralokone i thought he did some decent horror flicks in the 80s The frightners was very underrated and Brain dead is a cult classic. But i understand what you mean. yea that film was bad i just dont understand why there made that garbage

  • @adsasfd OH YES, frightners and brain dead are great . . . .but would you expect lord of the rings from someone whos best word is in dark comedy!

My point is, people can be surprising, I hope andrew stanton pulls off a similiar trick here!

  • I wonder what kind of technique they used to film the aliens. Mo-cap maybe? It would make the most sense.

  • Finally something original from Disney (never thought I'd say that) and it looks badass too. Loved the choir version of Kashmir, it made that song even more epic, which I didn't think was possible.

  • looks awesome. anyone know if it will be gritty or at least violent? I hope its not childish

  • @me700gnomes you see when the character is blue, that is alien blood :D

  • @Ralokone that doesn't count. giant monster blood doesn't warrant a violent movie. Look at the Hercules disney movie.

  • @me700gnomes why wouldnt it count? He kills a giant alien . .. . . what do you consider violent?

  • @Ralokone send me a message and i will reply with some movie scenes if you wish

  • how the hell is this compared to fucking starwars i dont see light sabers.

    read the fucking books

  • Is that Jean Claude Van Damme at 1:37????

  • Where'd all this oxygen come from?
