I've read that animal-based protein such as whey will lead to an acidic environment in our bodies, and our bodies will try to balance its pH, but in doing so we deplete our calcium levels leading to bone issues in the long run. An acidic environment is also an ideal platform for cancers to form.
That is why I'm considering switching to plant-based proteins because they are much less acidic than its animal-based counterparts.
@dragonx85 Yes, the protein can be used for both. People usually just have a light one pre-workout (water, coconut water, or almond milk with the protein). My post workout smoothie is pretty insane. Check out the Berry Blast smoothie video when you get a chance. I have some new videos I'll be posting soon. Stay tuned :))
just wondering, i thought that the body cannot absorb more than 25g of protein per serving. So to take 2 scoops of sun warrior protein then would it still absorb? thanks :)
Great recipe. I think I'll use this for a meal replacement.
Gladiators existed on a strict diet of "Barley and Beans". In fact, gladiators had the nickname Hordeari, or "barley crunchers". They specifically ate barley because it coated the arteries with a thick layer of fat and coated their bodies with this layer of fat that protected them from slashing wounds. They were very strong from eating barley but not ripped like in the movies. They all had a slight coating of fat on them.
this smoothie is definitely more deserving of the name "Gladiator", versus the Smoothe King's "Gladiator" which contains no nutrition and I'd wager over 40g of sugar.
Hello I just ordered from your site last week. I just started useing the Sunwarrior products a month ago and Im hooked. Anyway I quit eating meat two monthes ago and Im committed to never eating dead bodies again. Should vegetarian weightlifters supplement with creatine? I hear its hard on the body and would prefer to stay away from that sort of thing. Where else whould you get creatine in your diet and do you need it?
@CLOBBERINTIME1 I don't use creatine. I prefer to keep my diet as clean and natural as possible. I find putting on pure muscle mass takes an ample amount of time and effort. I tried creatine years ago and found I put on size quickly but lost it just as quickly when I went off. There is nothing like hard consistent training over time combined with a clean diet for permanent muscle gains.

@blessthewhoever1 Yes, because it is raw and plant based, making it highly absorbable by the body.

I believe all creatine comes from animals, (and is actually created by your body already. )
supplement with Arginine which is great! You can find it at any nutrition store.
I'm a mostly raw completely vegan weightlifter and Arginine is great!
