thats cool man =) .. i can do it too and i love it! =D .. but unfortunately i only do it with the ride bell, because i dont have any splash cymbals =(
It is actually tuned but the microphone of a Nokia mobile phone's built-in camera is far from being capable of capturing it. Thanks for the comment though :) I hope i'll be able to upload some videos with a real recording sometime... :(
this guy said it in portugues from brazil, maybe an frustrate drummer, don´t take him serious.
he´s saying for you put off your video, he´s saying that tony was 12 y/o, when made this groove, he said that people are blaming you, but i disagree with him, he´s an sucker and idiot. great groove, and i´m with you dude.
impressing assholes on youtube is probably the least important thing you should be worrying about...get with a tight band..make some money, leave the trolls on youtube working a shit job while you are out living your dream instead.
Haha, you just made my day my friend, thank you. Well, you're probably right about the YouTube trolls, they are a horrible tribe... But don't make people think i'm not playing on real stages. I got my band and i'm really enjoying what we do. Perhaps i'll upload some live action some time. Cheers buddy, thanks much for the support. We musicians get really much power from those like you. Thanks!
Hehe thank you. Well i had no intention to prove i'm a great drummer or rock off or something while making this video. It's just a groove that i loved and wanted to break it down for some friends that had requested it earlier.
Thanks for the explanation ... They're just mad because you didn't do it right or you didn't do anything amazing. It's cool what you in my opinion of course. Keep doing well.
Oh well first of all i'm really sorry that i accidentally clicked "remove" instead of "reply" on your comment, and it's not really undoable. Sorry for that, and please feel free to post it again. And yes, you're right; I indeed hit my snare on the 4th uh instead of a splash. Thanks for the care and comments. You're a valuable commentator, please keep it coming for my other videos as well. Cheers!
O mano... exclui esse video por favor... O cara tinha 12 anos quando NÃO fez esse groove que vc tirou ehuieiuehehieeiie... Os cara tão te chingando em ingles ai cara... exclui por favor eu imploro. Abraço!
Noone says it's difficult, and i'm not trying to show off by playing this beat. I simply tried to demonstrate and slow down this specific beat as it is requested from me by some friends. It is just a small demonstration, i have enough comments like "THIS IS NOT TONY ROYSTER!" or "FUCCK OFF!" or "Nothing special, screw you..." bla bla. Everything is clear on the video info and on the video itself. If you don't want to see it, you are free not to watch it. Thanks...
Yeah,i know i know... Lacks accuracy in this video but it's been like a year now. Also i was exhausted that day, though it's no excuse. Anyway, thanks for all the comments. Appreciate it. I've been practicing :)
sounds damn good to me exactly. the only thing these cry babies can cry about is sound quality. One thing I've noticed drummers are bunch of cry babies and they always got expert opinions and cant even play in the pocket.
Hehe, easy mate. Noone is perfect. I am not claiming that i am a super bad ass drummer, i just want to give some opportunity to find out how a groove is played. Thanks for comment.
My advice is play this for hours. Your coordination is great but it doesn't sound grounded. You'll feel it when it hits the "sweet spot" where it's just grooving effortlessly, but at first you might have to pay attention to things you're hitting that might be ever so-slightly ahead or behind the pocket, which undermines the "dancabillity."
ummm...that was a nice thought, but quite different from what Tony actually played...which is cool...but this was supposed to be the same thing, right?
In fact,it's the exact same pattern that Tony plays but i didn't want to play it for a long time and preferred to end it with a small fill...That's the difference at the end...
man i remember when I first saw that video i was probably 16, and i bought a splash and figured out the groove. it was a huge moment for me haha. still probably one of the coolest grooves ever that's not really hard to play. love it
U don't need to put your Tony Royster Jr.'s name up here if its not him. B/c people like me want to see Tony Royster Jr. and not someone who admires him!!
What admire are you talking about? Some friends asked me to explain that groove with a video, and i made this one.I have no intention to get attention using his name...You see a small display picture of the video when you search for keywords. If you don't see the one you are seeking, just DO NOT click...

I don't think this is right. After the snare hits tony's left hand sneaks over to the hi-hat and plays 2 notes.
