I seem to remember a deleted scene here, Scott goes into the tent, retrieves the letters, comes out and laments to Wilson that Amundsen's letter to the king of Norway did not have postage on it. I also remember some of the scenes were in Norwegian with English subtitles, but it has been a long time since I first saw it on Masterpiece Theatre.
@monkeyboy4746 I think you're getting confused with the old 'Scott of the Antarctic' film with John Mills. In that film Wilson goes into the tent and brings out a letter from Amundsen to the king of Norway and a note asking Scott to post it. John Mills's Scott, blinking back his tears of disappointment, tries to make a joke by saying "He's forgotten to stamp it." I can't tell you how many times I've watched that film!
Connections (I smile), Wilson found Glossopteris fossils. An important find. My family friend was with the geologist team that found the only NZ samples (linking it too to the Permian super contenent - Productus Creek, in the Takitumu foothills, Southland, New Zealand.
I couldn't imagine Capt.. Scott crying like that - stiff upper lip and all that.

What's amazing to me is that when Amunsen's backers found out he went south instead of north they wanted to sue him for breaking his contract!

This is probably one of the best historical docu-dramas ever made. They stuck to the facts and resisted the tempation take dramatic license.
