  • this group should have been bigger than they were. Outstanding harmonies and great songs. Rock on Rock on.

  • Frank is playing a 1964 Burns Bison Bass with scroll neck, both Mike and John are both playing Burns 1964 Double 6 guitars (12 string electric!) John a green burst and and Mike obvoiusly a white one. Having expierence of playing many 12 string electrics including a Rickenbacker 12/64 Id say the Burns was, and is still is the better or best 12 string electric on the market enen today . forgetting the price!

  • Dont make songs like this any more, brilliant song.

  • WOW

  • so beautiful,thanxs guys

  • We saw these guitars hanging in a shop in Surbiton in 1964, and the guy said "They are the same as the Searchers are using', and he lifted them down and plugged them in for us. Boy what a sensation.

  • @g1h2nedlaw they imported them to the usa but they didnt catch on too expensive fender was bigger even gibson solid bodies didnt sell as well even though they were better quality the ampeg factory was in linden new jersey they had those dan armstrong clear plastic guitars in the show room the actor hal linden got his stage name from the water tower in linden new jersey

  • @spacepatrolman Interesting comments. Thanksspacepatrolman.

  • @g1h2nedlaw Do you remember what brand they were?

Also interesting that both guitars appear to be 12 strings, judging by the length of the headstock on the light colored guitar, as it never appears in closeup. Must have been a bitch geting in tune before the gig!

  • @Iamheofwhomhespeaks

Yes Burns, Frank Allen played the Burns bass Bison. Pender also used the same matching white model.

See their guitar history on The Searchers website.

Thanks for your reply. I went to the official website--very organized and a very interesting read! I became a fan when I got a copy of their album that came out in the 80's (the one with the jet shaped hood ornaments on the cover)--in the begining, most of us American kids were totally distracted by the Beatles, Stones, Animals, Kinks, and Them--sadly, most of us put the Searchers in the Freddie & the Dreamers category. Much respect in retrospect!

  • @MrRCW1234
