I have this computer and it does work fast with no major problems. I do have one problem though, ever since i've had this computer it seems to freeze up during use. I've changed just about everything out, but it still freezes. Any ideas what might be the cause of that ?

@TheRealScorpio5150 I would get something with a faster CPU. 1.6 GHZ is kind of weak for todays apps. Video might stall or freeze. Everything else sounds good.

I bought mine with a 2.7Ghz Intel Pentium Dual Core CPU, 4.00GB RAM and ATI Radeon HD 4350 512MB graphics (im upgrading) for $500 AU. And i'm not complaining with this one.
This is a good deal and it's pretty cheap but Emachines or Compaq should make a model that has no hard drive for like $200 then you could put a 500GB hard drive or 2 terabyte hardrive if you wanted and as much memory as you wanted then they could sell it at like walmart.
eMachines have this strong tendency to turn off after a few years and never come back on, keep that in note, the motherboard just quits or something, I have an old one that did that. Im gona get a guy to look at it and see if what I think is true, but I have a friend who called tech support about thier eMachine that just quit and tech support said emachines just do that.

And for 250 bucks cant beat that price anyway you look at it, especially with a Windows 7 64bit OS. The most advanced game he plays is online poker, and slots.

Whatever you do, don't add the 210. That is slower than the 8800 ultra, and that card is 3 years old. You're better off getting a 9800 GTX+ from Newegg. That is the highest card in the 9000 series, and it equivalent to a Geforce 250, much better.

Wow. Overclock your Processor to 3.1 GHz. Buy another 210 and SLi it, and you can run Crysis on full. Just make sure to install the GPU yourself you don't really need to pay $50.

If i were to buy this model and replace the current video card in the et1831-07 with my Geforce 9500, would it at least be decent or run well with games like Half life 2 or Killing floor? i ran a "can u run it" at best buy and it said it could run MW2/BFBC2 at minimal without video/graphic card change. so please reply ASAP

This PC is crap in so far as a gaming PC out of the box.
I upgraded the psu CPU fan and heat sink and added a nvidia 210 512mb vid card ( this system has a pci-e slot. the dual pentium version does)
It plays warcraft well and is much faster imo.
As to the OS..I like win7 but would love to try mint on it.

@yourmama547 it will work but you should at least get a 9800gt. it will be $40 more but at least 3x the speed. 9500gt is not a good gaming card.
you will need a new psu for the 9800. but i would recommend changing it anyway since emachine psus are junk.

Whatever you do, don't add the 210. That is slower than the 8800 ultra, and that card is 3 years old. You're better off getting a 9800 GTX+ from Newegg. That is the highest card in the 9000 series, and it equivalent to a Geforce 250, much better.

Wow. Overclock your Processor to 3.1 GHz. Buy another 210 and SLi it, and you can run Crysis on full. Just make sure to install the GPU yourself you don't really need to pay $50.

considering the hardware (1.6 Ghz in a brad new computer is OLD to say the least) and the "target" of users at what this pc is intended.. it does simply makes no sense..
you can buy a decent laptos (and a bigger external monitor) for the same price and still have a faster processor and a "compact" laptop computer for the same money you'd have to spend to get this...
so what is the point of a new-outdated overpcired pc like this??
