  • LOL

  • I am so happy this is possible!!!

  • 1:33 - It's Windows 3.11 not 3.1 (they differ from each other)

  • i have an xbox and a xbox360

  • @SuperLegoMan100 good for you?

  • @SuperLegoMan100 SWEET!

  • @SuperLegoMan100 I am too! :D

  • you may be able to run 2000 on the xbox, but i don't think a full install of xp, since xp has a minimum requirememt of 64mb or it wont start, the processor would run xp. i think you could get a nlited version to run on an xbox though.

  • Sorry, someone said this was DosBox. They are using BOCHs which could technically run something like 2000 or XP. Not necessarily good on the XBOX if possible at all.

You can get stand alone DosBox and I'm pretty sure there is even a Bochs port to Xbox directly so you wouldn't have to run the Linux version. This would run much faster.

Keep in mind that you don't get all 64 megs of Xbox ram either because the OS is sharing it. Linux will be using most if not all of the ram leaving little free.

  • Ah, I see. Then why isn't he running 98?

  • If this can be done, then why not any other x86 operating system? What about Vista on the Xbox?

  • Due to the Memory and Ram constrictions I would have to say no.

  • Memory constrictions on an XBox? You're joking, right?

  • yea.

  • lulz.

  • The original xBox has 128mb of RAM. You can't run vista without bashing your head against a wall on 512mb.

  • Well, you could run 2000 on the Xbox no problem. I was just using Vista as a modern example. They're both the same, really. I mean, if he were running XP he could play the latest PC games. Well, not Crysis or anything, but maybe Halo.

  • Yeah, 2000 and even XP would run fine.

  • The original Xbox has 64 megs of ram, not 128. You CAN upgrade it though, by soldering another chip on by hand.

  • So, the Xbox is roughly equivalent to a high-end 98 machine with a good graphics card?

  • correction 64mb SDRAM

  • The Xbox can not run Vista or anything of the sort because it doesn't have enough memory, let alone processor isn't nearly fast enough.

XBox is great for a lot of emulation and such because it has crazy specs compared to other systems in its generation but this is asking a lot.

Keep in mind also that DosBox is for running programs that ran in/on Dos. Windows 2000, XP and Vista are NOT dos based like Windows 3.1 through Windows 98 were. Hopefully this clears it up a bit.

  • hey bastante interesante ya instale el linux en mi xbox. tambien tengo xbox media center quisiera me explicaras que escribo en el "xterminal " exactamente please

  • it works, but who need windows 3.1 anyway ? ;]

  • Who needs 3.1 when you have tGvHNNOLnCk

  • doesent work with dosbox

  • win3.1 on xbox = 128bit minesweeper

  • The was more powerfull than the 128bit consoles (PS2, GC, DC) but it was only 32bit.

  • did u make an x-dsl boot disk then copy the contents to your apps folder then make a knoppix folder in the e drive?

  • yes... you can do this with DosBox
