Much of the inorganic fertilizer is not used by the plant. To overcome this rotate perennial pasture legume crops with cereals as they provide Nitrogen, till the soil making the soil texture better, min fertilizer and provides N2 for next 2 year of cereal crop. If farmers collectively worked the land the rotational system using much less water using lucerne and clovers can be done. I am an ag scientist.
I'll have to watch this film ASAP. I'm in the process of writing a paper for one of my university classes on the topic of the globalization of agriculture and the decline of the family farm
yes - you are totally right! please also see our trailer for the film. Permaculture and biodynamics can learn from each other and they both have reverence for nature at their heart.
The only way to save the world (By which I mean saving the environment) is to kill all white people.

Current world population is at least 8,000,000,000. The only way to fix the world is to reduce that to 1,000,000,000.
Good luck with thatta, thatta.

Its true - heavy use of pesticides etc have led to degradation of soil and increases in the cost of farming.
There's this project in India that works with poor women to adopt alternative farming methods and improve their livelihoods.
Through self-help groups they have a support platform that helps them save, generate income and build linkages with banks.
You can donate and help support their project through the GlobalGiving Foundation.
check it out..its called IDEX
