There's never been 6-7 yr periods with no new Megadeth material. He always acts like he has to prove himself even though he's part of the "Big 4" of metal. Never stop Dave, you're truly an icon

In interviews he talks quite a bit on how it seemed that he was losing control over Megadeth more and more as the years went on. He says in his book that Marty Friedman and the producer for Risk (can't remember the name) came very close to pushing Megadeth into a more pop oriented sound. I think the music has come full circle and gotten heavier with each album since the 90's ended.
