  • @jkalefox83 While this is a general rule, you must also keep the Kata smooth and flowing, which means on one or two occasions it is easier to just turn in a "natural" direction for the body.

  • Really awesome ura nage. I don't think you understood the yoko gake, it's supposed to sweet out both feet. Did you do the full gamut of the grading that day? Osae, Shime, and Kansetsu waza and Randori, renraku/ kaeshi waza? Because mine was brutal when I did it! I also rolled my ankle and had 4 fights to do that night. Sucked. But I passed. lol

  • @Freethoughttheatre He did the entire exam with all component parts, and he worked very hard for his grading....I was sitting there watching, you can actually hear me speaking to one of the instructors just as the Kata ends.

  • Great, really enjoyed it.

  • I can see a few criticisms here by other posters, but I dont think any of them are really well founded.

I am doing this soon as part of the Technical route and found this to be a good assurance. Well done mate

  • your kata guruma doesnt go al that smoothly;p

  • nice execution but uke jumps a lot..

  • @melkorthegreat Uke is almost 30 kilos heavier than Tori, and this is only the second time they had performed the Kata together.

The first time was about 10 minutes earlier when their roles were reversed and "Uke" was performing as Tori as part of his 4th Dan Grading, I was his Uke for Katame no Kata

  • this is great! I have to do this soon, this video will help! Thanks!

  • Good video. Overall, lovely standard of technique and good uke. Felt that the sutemiwaza were from too much of a squatting position, and that the kata garuma was not fluid enough, but good overall standard.

  • @makikomi Uke is about 30 kilos heavier than Tori.

  • Lovely sumi gaeshi. Shame about the lack of commitment on yoko gake.

  • fantastic, perfect timing, perfect throws! wd guys.

  • great video, i'm training for this kata myself!

  • VERY NICE!

  • Thanks all for your kind words.

  • Nice video and congrats man

  • congrats..this video is good for reference when learing the kata..

  • Nicely controlled. Good precise movements - The Uke deserves a lot of credit as well.

  • very technical and nice right harai-goshi;

    beautiful kata

  • Congratulations. :) This is a great vid, thanks for putting it here.

  • awesome accomplishment

soak it up, you have worked hard for that no doubt.
