@ joecool 31619 they have worked on the high sticks and kicking goals into nhl 11 on the demo the ref thought id kicked it in and disallowed the goal but the reply showed it came off my stick so they allowed it havent done high stick goal yet though on nhl 11
@Nivekohgr86 he was #54 in the 2010 preseason because Brian Burke did not want players using high numbers and thinking they are bigger than the team. Then when the Leafs traded for Kessel, Burke backed off saying he would not ask Kessel to change his number, and so he allowed Grabovski to have his #84 back.
@briandolce good question. His reasoning was that he didn't want players to think that they were above the team, so he didn't want them using numbers higher than 60 or something like that. Then when they signed Kessel, he didn't want to ask him to change his number so he allowed Grabovski to go back to 84.
i hate it when your playing goalie and the other teams stick goes right through the middle of your pads and they score!its like your leg isnt even there!
what? the only time the whistle blows is if another member of his team (or the player himself) touches the puck AFTER the high stick. if the opposing team takes possession, the play continues. learn the rules lol
price is on the opposing team, therefore the play is then clean.
if the puck hit anohter toronto player, then the play is called. this is the case with kick ins, and as far as i know, the same rule applies to high sticks. only the team guilty of the infraction gets the call.
ah yes true. i just looked up the official rules, and the goal would be disallowed despite the deflection. i don't really understand why a kick in or hand deflection would count as a goal, but this would not.
i also don't really get why two goals cannot be allowed on one stoppage under certain circumstance (ie. the other night in toronto).
it's still kinda glitchy though..because i've seen shots high sticked directly into the net in this game, and still count. so even though this one may be legal, there are still no goals in the game called off..and apparently the refs are non-existent,
@MajicPictures i think youre confusing the high stick rule with the hand pass and hand pass is only blown dead when the team committing the hand pass gains possession for a high stick however the play is blown dead once the stick and puck make contact above a player's shoulders
When a puck has been contacted by a high stick, the play shall be permitted to continue, provided that:
(i) the puck has been batted to an opponent (when a player bats the puck to an opponent, the Referee shall give the washout signal immediately. Otherwise, he will stop the play).
(ii) a player of the defending side shall bat the puck into his own goal in which case the goal shall be allowed.
@moneyball69 you are the confused one. If the player hits the puck over his head with his stick, the play is only blown dead if the same team then gains control of the puck. if the opposing team gains control, the play continues. In the case of a goal being scored, if the stick of the player who scored is above the crossbar, the goal is disallowed but if it is under, it is allowed.
At my game 25 min. ago in an Midget A Select game, i shot and my linemate smacked it out of the air and they also said no, i thought that was really funny
you can't get a penalty for knocking the puck down with a high stick, they would normally review the goal and if the stick is above the crossbar it would be disallowed. But no, as it says in the description, the goal was not disallowed.
same happended to me too. the worst part is when your on the pk and your goalie makes a save and the rebound is deflected to the corner and your D automatically bats it right in front of your net wehn your could of gained possesion to clear it. you should have control over it in the defensive zone.
This. fuckin'. music. every. fuckin. time.

That's a high stick & I clearly kicked a goal in the other day and it counted. They need to work on things like kick ins & high sticks.

OHHHHH Yeah I remember that actually, thanks for the carification. I think 84 looks better on him anyways, so glad Burke changed his mind.

@tylerkornelsen that also explains why Burke always gets his team to be invovled with a lot of charity work --> he tries to humble the team

went off the goalie, therefore, good goal
same as kicking the puck..if you kick it and it deflects, it's a good goal

idiot, as he hits the puck above the shoulders, the whistle is supposed to be blown, so that deflection is not even supposed to count... NO GOAL !!!

right out of the rule book.
