My son started in October 2005. So, it's been a little over 2 years. He was 2 months short from turning 7 then. I was told that it is not very common to accept students so young in Kenjutsu schools, and my son was the youngest at his club at the time. The club is part of his Karate school, and his Kenjutsu teachers used to visit the dojo twice a month. Now the senior students drive up to the Kenjutsu teachers' school on Saturdays, and train the juniors on Friday nights at our dojo.
Well, everyone believes he has the potential, but he is a boy of multiple interests and I really don't know if it would be his thing. He is still very young and I do not wish to limit him down to one thing just because of the wish of us adults.
Thank you for your kind response. I assume you rated it 5 stars. I appreciate your positive inputs. Especially because there is someone out there so negative that he/she had to rate it "0". I don't mind being rated, yet I never guessed that some one would have such a sad heart to make an extra effort to rate a kid's performance video "0" -- not my kind of people. I sure hope this sad hearted person isn't a teacher.
Hello, Im a Jinmukai instructor in Venezuela, your video motivates me to teach young kids, thanks!

Who knows, maybe he would understand it better when he is older (if he chooses not to do it anymore).

Wow, I love seeing young ones in Kenjutsu. How young did he start and what is the youngest you have seen doing it?

Yeah, it is usually uncommon, but cool. That's cool to hear. He'll make a fine Swordsman, maybe even a kensei, who knows. ^_^
