It is only the Keralites who benefit from the water from the Dam. The water from Mullaiperiyar dam which used for irrigation sends vegetables, milk, rice etc to Kerala only. Due to the blockade in the last one week, prices of these items have increased in Idukki district. Now Keralites are feeling the pinch. "Idukku peru than thanakku thane sunyam vachukaradu nu solvanga".
Almost 60% catchment area for the DAM is in TamilNadu. Kerala is blessed with water. It is the Gods country. TamilNadu only asks water collected in its catchment area. It just 16 tmc. All over the world people strengthen DAM. Rarely demolish the DAM.

if the dam was built in such a way that, the water should flow to tamilnadu if it was broken, No one would have told that the new dam is not an emergency. If the dam has real safety issues, then let Kerala Government put the facts before the supreme court and win the case. The objective of Kerala is very clear. It wants to take control of the dam which is currently under the control of the TN Government. So, Kerala is trying it's best to break the agreement that gives full rights on the dam to TN. Supreme court has clearly stated that the agreement of TN holding control of the dam is valid for 999 years. Truth will triumph and Kerala will loose.

if you are a civil engineer, you can easily understand the problems of the dam, 7mm steel bars embedded in M5(lime surkhy) concrete, i have not even seen 7 mm bars even in c class construction. also Pre stressing technology of 1800's.. you got to be kidding me. Leak in dam means that the steel is already corroded. as time passes all engg structures gets weakened, its just common sense, if your engineers believe that the dam have life of 999 years please forget that i even commented.

Kallanai (Dam near Tanjore) built by Chola's on 1000 years before. Still it is very safe but Mullai periyar is just 100 years (not built by our politicians) and i am wondering how it will break? Come on guys... Don't argue blindly!!!

The Sketch for the new dam is misleading one. The New Dam will have 52.33 meter height which is equal to 171.68 feet. The Tamil people need to worry. You people try to realize the fact.
The Landsliding and Earthquakes are not based on the verdict of Supreme court. So we need a New Dam which can resist at least 10 magnitude earthquakes.

If idukki breaks it will be fatal because its base is only 50feet where as Mullai periyar dam base is 200feet. Idukki dam is 7 times bigger than Mullai periyar.So ask Kerala Govt to destroy Idukki dam for the safety of 30 lakhs people.
Tamilnadu is not Kerala's drainwater sump to divert the excess water. Tamilnadu can direct Kerala to divert all the water inside Kerala and any water coming into TN from Kerala should be charged on per litre basis. Tamil people are hardworkers and will find a way to get water by harvesting rainwater. Tamilnadu should stop the movement of food essentials going into Kerala immediately.

A lease deed was signed between the Travancore Princely State and British Presidency of Madras in 1886 which gave the British the right to divert "all the waters" of the Mullaperiyar ,lease agreemnt happend b’oz Dam is placed at Travancore not TN, not TN Build a Dam and after state separation it went to kerala. Believe it or not thatz upto you.. but how can you ignore the fact people of Kerala will die if it collapse? Are you not a human?

After independence it is not under british rule nor in Madras rule. What remained only lease agreement.... the lease agreement should have been invalidated.. but we have shown sympathy to problems in TN and kerala govt renewed it. Mullai periyaru Dam is very very small size compared to these reservoirs and even to vaigai Dam.If you says that because of Mullai periyar Dam kerala will suffer,it is ultimately a wrong statement.If you want to take away TN rights on that Dam,You should reveal it clearly.Pls dont stand behind that wrong issue. Idduki dist and munnar need to be join with Tamilnadu, it was been historical error when states are divided based on Language, It is belongs to tamil people.

Some keralites say that they dont want to give water to TN anymore..some other says that they will give water as normal one.. My question is that even you allow the same 999 year contract as it is. @balasundarece The isssue with TN Govt is that They want to get water forfree (almost) as they get it now. It wont be like that after a new dam is built. If they use the resources of another state they have to pay accodingly. TN is paying a few lakhs for water and makeing crores with this. At they same time they pay croes to AP for water. Kerala govt is going to spend 600 crores for the new dam. How can TN govt expect that they get water for free after new dam is built.
That is why TN govt waiting.. wating till last moment. so that they negotiate more and get more from it.. kerala will be under pressress becuase of the safetly of people so they have to give up all arguements....

4) Kerala... will be divided into 2 lands, impacting geography of India, and washing away an area of vast bio diversity, along with 30 lakh people. Serving rest of the people with food and other stuffs will be an extremely tedious task.
5) Port City of Cochin, will not be in world map anymore. Vallarpadam port will be a history, all of South India has to again depend on Colombo for Mother ships , a very expensive option.
2) Cochin Refineries - Which refines petroleum products and services most of South India. If it is washed away, TamilNadu, Karnataka and Andhra has to find much more expensive options for Petroleum Refineries.
3) Kerala will be in complete darkness for ages, no TV, no Internet, no Mobile towers, once the Idukki hydro electric power plant is washed away, resulting from Mullaperiyar collapse.
1) Under water sea cable for internet connectivity connects India to rest of the world , thats only in Cochin. If Cochin Goes Down, South Indian IT Hub will come to a stand still. All the gateway CISCO routers , switches etc in Kakkanad will float in Arabian Ocean. IP packets from Bangalore, chennai etc will not cross the ocean..

It is only the Keralites who benefit from the water from the Dam. The water from Mullaiperiyar dam which used for irrigation sends vegetables, milk, rice etc to Kerala only. Due to the blockade in the last one week, prices of these items have increased in Idukki district. Now Keralites are feeling the pinch. If the dam has real safety issues, then let Kerala Government put the facts before the supreme court and win the case. The objective of Kerala is very clear. It wants to take control of the dam which is currently under the control of the TN Government. So, Kerala is trying it's best to break the agreement that gives full rights on the dam to TN. Supreme court has clearly stated that the agreement of TN holding control of the dam is valid for 999 years. Truth will triumph and Kerala will loose.

if you are a civil engineer, you can easily understand the problems of the dam, 7mm steel bars embedded in M5(lime surkhy) concrete, i have not even seen 7 mm bars even in c class construction. also Pre stressing technology of 1800's.. you got to be kidding me. Leak in dam means that the steel is already corroded. as time passes all engg structures gets weakened, its just common sense, if your engineers believe that the dam have life of 999 years please forget that i even commented.

If idukki breaks it will be fatal because its base is only 50feet where as Mullai periyar dam base is 200feet. Idukki dam is 7 times bigger than Mullai periyar.So ask Kerala Govt to destroy Idukki dam for the safety of 30 lakhs people.

Tamilnadu is not Kerala's drainwater sump to divert the excess water. Tamilnadu can direct Kerala to divert all the water inside Kerala and any water coming into TN from Kerala should be charged on per litre basis. Tamil people are hardworkers and will find a way to get water by harvesting rainwater. Tamilnadu should stop the movement of food essentials going into Kerala immediately.

A lease deed was signed between the Travancore Princely State and British Presidency of Madras in 1886 which gave the British the right to divert "all the waters" of the Mullaperiyar ,lease agreemnt happend b’oz Dam is placed at Travancore not TN, not TN Build a Dam and after state separation it went to kerala. Believe it or not thatz upto you.. but how can you ignore the fact people of Kerala will die if it collapse? Are you not a human?

@balasundarece What you mean by you have consrructed? British constructed it. You never owned the DAM nor the land. It was only lease... After independence it is not under british rule nor in Madras rule. What remained only lease agreement.... the lease agreement should have been invalidated.. but we have shown sympathy to problems in TN and kerala govt renewed it. Otherwise you have no right of land nor Dam.... Now everybody realized that it was a big mistake.. we have to pay for that....

Mullai periyaru Dam is very very small size compared to these reservoirs and even to vaigai Dam.If you says that because of Mullai periyar Dam kerala will suffer,it is ultimately a wrong statement.If you want to take away TN rights on that Dam,You should reveal it clearly.Pls dont stand behind that wrong issue. @balasundarece The isssue with TN Govt is that They want to get water forfree (almost) as they get it now. It wont be like that after a new dam is built. If they use the resources of another state they have to pay accodingly. TN is paying a few lakhs for water and makeing crores with this. At they same time they pay croes to AP for water. Kerala govt is going to spend 600 crores for the new dam. How can TN govt expect that they get water for free after new dam is built.

2) Cochin Refineries - Which refines petroleum products and services most of South India. If it is washed away, TamilNadu, Karnataka and Andhra has to find much more expensive options for Petroleum Refineries.

@chuwetarun yes,Jaya only not listening.as this dam is with lease agreement with TN. she can talk to kerala CM for an amicable solution.why she is not seeing the fear of people in kerala?or she just don't want to see?people here in kerala doesn't want to fight ready to give water.WHY NO ONE FROM THERE SEEING THE FEAR AND ANXITETY OF PEOPLE HERE. It is not a case of sharing water,TN can take water not the life.
