  • A good example of a kind of grandiose self-deception is a quip, or a quote, from Socrates who, reportedly, had said that 'there is one thing that I know, and that is that I don't know.' This self-contradiction presents a paradox, a perfect opportunity for one to pause to critically ponder the possibilities of how we may have deceived ourselves when deciding on any particular knowledge we're convinced we thoroughly know.
