IT WAS "LOST IN SPACE" THAT KNOCKED "STAR TREK" OFF THE AIR. "STAR TREK" was too technical, and the Enterprise *Bridge Crew too culturaly diversified for no neck low IQ types. ~ Lost in Space served its purpose too. KILL CRUSH DESTROY!!
@RubberIceCream - Eh whatevz, dorky shows like this and Dr. Who were easier to enjoy. Who cares about logic or plot... shit just happens. How does the Doctor pilot the Tardis, what the hell is all that random crap in there he keeps twisting and pressing? Dunno, it just works. Shaddap and just watch the damn show.
@21aaa111 You're spot on. It's been years since I've seen this and I'd forgotten how bad this was. But as you say 'so bad it's good'. Hilarious, especially Dr Smith.
I have always wanted to see this show (hopefully one day I do) But for now I must watch great clips like this. And I get to play with my OLD B-9 Robot
Jonathan Harris (Dr Smith) says he used to lay awake at night dreaming up alliterative insults to use on the show. Irwin Allen, of course, probably allowed Mr Harris to use these insults because it wouldn't cost him (Allen) any money, the tightwad!
Fantastic, I grew up watching this show,It is my all time favorite. I really love the theme song and the way the astronaut floated on the cable across the sceen during the credits was so cool, thanks.
I heard that the successor of M-3 Robot M-4 is currently being developed which is categorized as super secret project. Star Trek is sending thousands of spies to steal the information of this project.
Great clips and stellar editing. This compilation of scenes over all 3 seasons really gives you an idea what the show was about and why we still love it after all these years. :-)
Great complilation! I was in second grade when Lost in Space premiered. My little brother and I were allowed to stay up late to watch it it. (Our bedtime was 8:00 and Lost in Space ran 7:30 to 8:30 on Wednesday on Ch 10 in Phila. Yes, primetime started at 7:30 back then). Loved it then and still do. Silly, innocent fun and a positiive moral message.
Do not forget the very best sci fi episode in television History was "My Friend Mr. Nobody".................that one show was a dissaster episode that showed where Irwin Allen's career was going!
You realize that Lost in Space isn't really "sci-fi" but actually an adventure series set in outer space. At least Lost in Space fans know that our show is silly but ST fans take that awful soap opera oh so seriously. In fact ST fans themselves are scary dressing up like they do, very odd indeed.
@firstcowtails To each his/her own opinion. And I'm afraid the Nielsons of the day agreed with you. The ratings for Lost In Space were far above those of Star Trek. I guess Trek was just a little too grown up for many of the Nielson subscribers to be able to grasp. A TV show, with bad ratings, that results in over 10 motion pictures, four TV spinoffs and numerous fan films can't suck all that much.
@USSLexington1709 Lost in Space was a kid's adventure series with good enough ratings that it could have gone a fourth season. Star Trek was a space soap opera. The two are in no way comparable and I have no clue why people compare the two. There was little in the way of science fiction in either. Lost in Space puts a smile on your face. Star Trek is a cult favorite enjoyed by peope who like to dress up like Klingons and such. Would you compare Green Acres and The Smothers Brothers.
Always loved the fake rocks in the background.....LOL A good show for a laugh I guess, I was about 12 so for me wasn't really a favorite but I still remember watching.....first episode was good though.
I remember coming home from school, dying from the heat (Phoenix in the '60s) and tuning into this show. Even then, my favorites were Dr. Smith and Robot (note: one does not say "the Robot"...one says only "Robot"). I think it's these two characters that made the show unique and wonderful. I remember that at first, Robot was very, well...robot-like. Then as the show went on, Robot became more of Dr. Smith's sidekick and a true wise-ass!
I have similar memories as a kid, not that Norway is that hot, but in the late 1980s. Cant recall any black and white episodes shown, but Lost in Space was one of the cooler shows in the "after school" time slot. Before YouTube I had no idea this show was that old.
Nice, but why weren't there ANY clips of Robot saying his most famous line: 'Danger, Will Robinson'....? O.o
