You know, I swear, CPR has to be one of my favorites. Cool video. Like the one with the old Soo Line SD402 coming at you. You know they're also talking about buying out U.P., don't you? Where did you take this video? I used to live near the Puget Sound, so when ever I saw them they used a lot of old U.P. units, and they looked spetacular.
Yah, they've been trying to merge with U.P. for a while now. CPR is going to be the one buying, as they are one of the richest railroads in the world and have enough money to buy out both U.P. and BNSF, but U.P. is the one they want. Think about it. Their management is very Southern Pacific-like. That would be awesome!
yah that would be cool. Nice change if i saw a few old/new UP units roll by my place here in ontario :P we never get foreign power :P but yah CPR is fast taking over alot of different railroads.
Actually, CP already owns quite a bit of former U.P. power, some of which are former SP tunnel motors, by the way. CP 5422, for example, is a former U.P. SD40-2. CP 5742, the Express Way unit, is also a former U.P. unit. Not to mention a lot of their SD70ACe's are former U.P. units. Much of that power is still left in the old U.P. livery and doesn't even say "CPRail" on them sometimes. I used to live near Seattle, and saw C.P. but with old U.P. units all the time. It looked awesome!
lol rly, i didnt know that, well i live in ontario and we NEVER..EVER get U.S Units up here. I dont even know where the closest U.S Line is here. i kno theres CSX in Quebec but other then that i duno lol
Not really sure where you got your info, but to clarify many things. 1st: CP has a few ex up units, with none of them being tunnel motors. 2nd: there are no SD70ACE in CP's fleet, we were testing 2 BNSF units but they were sent back before the lease period expired. And last: CP and UP do have a partnership and there have been merger rumors for years. But if a merger was to happen, unfortunately Canadian Pacific would be the railway that would disappear .
And UP has already stated that they are waiting for CP to enter the Powder River, before they decide to go ahead with Mergers. This you suck as I am both A Canadian Pacific employee and a Canadian, with CP's Head office in my home town.
such as the GP40X's i have them both in ho scale, 4521 is EX SP and 4523 is EX UP, and would that mean i could see some UP yellow engines rolling down keewatin sub eventually???????????
Now I see were you are confused by the power thing. CP and UP have run through power on their trains that are run through the SI Gateway. Which run from Portal ND, to Hinkle OR. And also Freights from Lethbridge Alberta, to Hinkle. With some potash trains running al UP power, usually consisting of 4 SD9043MAC's. These trains run from the Potash mines in Saskatchewan, to the docks in Portland/Seattle. All trains cross the boarder at the Kingsgate/Eastport Crossing.
i know you are just trying to be informative, but alot of your information is wrong.
