Have ya'll been usin' the Mrs. Butterworth syrup to put on both some french toasts, pancakes and some waffles before. If you put this on breakfast foods so we can eat those.
I remember a series of ads in the '60s where Cliff ("Charley Weaver") Arquette played a live action Mrs. Butterworth (in drag, without losing his mustache). Weird ad . . . very weird . . .
What people don't understand is the recipe ain't the same. It doesn't taste as good now days. Real talk. In the 80's as late as the early 90's Mrs. Butterworth was on point. It tasted amazing. Now it tastes like any other syrup. It's sad. The same thing happened to Cookie Crisp, that cereal was delicious in the 80's and early 90's now, not so much. Maybe its the high fructose corn syrup.
@kdj997 have you ever thought that maybe your idea of "delicious" is only affected by your age. im only saying this because "lunchables are sooo awesome" , yeah when your 10. now its junk and i wouldn't eat that grade school slop.
I saw on Kim Fields biography on the Biography channel that her and Janet Jackson auditioned for this part. I'm glad that Kim was in this though. It could of been different if they didn't pick her. She was soo too damn cute in this. :-)
I have a puppet of her and now my kids are grown. I used to make it talk to the kids I also made "good morning: toast. (t was like a cookie cutter that a message on the toast
I just love how matter-of-fact people are in these Mrs. Butterworth commercials about their bottle of syrup coming to life and speaking to them. In real life it would be more like, "ARRRGGHH! TALKING SYRUP BOTTLE! CALL AN EXORCIST!"
how cute!!! that's kim fields!!! i think i remember this commercial too. but i would guess it to have been like a year or 2 earlier than 77. just a guess though, i don't actually know. 77 might be right too???
thanks for posting this cute, great childhood commercial. totally dig it ;o)
For some reason when I was a kid, I had a deathly fear of Ms. butterworth! Lol, serciously though..my uncle would have to remove his syrup from his cubburd & hide her cause I was so scared that she was out to get me! haha~
I just want some Pancakes now..

Cutie Tootie! I guess that was around the time she began guest starring as Kim on Good Times. Probably around 1978.
