I agree that their argument for guns was weak. What you need to look at to understand the need for guns is read Sheriff Richard Mack's book, "From My Cold Dead Fingers". It lays down exactly why we have the 2nd amendment. Great read. Outlawing guns means that only outlaws have guns.

have you seen any of the stats on states and cities for and against guns? there was one city that declared it mandatory for each household to have a gun and they had one of the lowest crime rates in the US. cities where they have stricter gun regs and confiscations have the highest crime rates! think about it, wouldn't you be a bit more apprehensive to rob someone if you knew there was a great chance that they had a gun? you take peoples guns, you take away their right to protect themselves
