Lena...Hiowdy! Hadn't seen this video until tonight....thought your slide was gonna melt into a pool of molten lava...my eardrums sure did...that was AWESOME!!!
Thank you so much Anthony!! Really love to read your comment. The tune is in Open G tuning. All the best Lena (by the way: new tune on my new Hawaiian guitar in about 2 weeks :))
@lenaspieltblues Thanks Lena. I figured it was open G, been messing around with it for a day or two, really nice tuning. Look forward to your new video. A.
I love what you are playing here Lena and love your playing full stop. I've never even seen one of those National Resolectric guitars before, it sounds down and dirty and very authentic. What tuning are you using? I've just stared playing slide mainly using open d major, but am branching out into open g major and getting some nice results. Like yourself i too am a huge John Fahey fan, along with Ry, and Muddy and loads of others. Keep up the great work...A
@ZEDZOR2 Thank you very much. Well, I play all three tunes for a long time. I learned them years ago by tab-reading. But from controlling the tune on I play it free, changing the tune as mood needed
@lenaspieltblues Thanks for your reply to my questions.Im blown away with how good ur phrasing and timing is.Rory block couldn't lace your shoes. All the best from Scotland.
lena, needed a pinch of good blues this morning...choose your video...feel already better (now)...thanks for the 'pain'...from the strings...can tackle the day... now...well done...good blues... thanks for your heart! (after all)
@ROCSTA13 Nochmal vielen Dank Oliver!
Where is Oz (so cold here)? Thanks for your very nice comment! You are right, in the meanwhile I recognized that the sound is special and good. But I think it's better to let the first impression in the information box.
Thanks so much! Well, it's something like a medley, there is not one tab but three. Search for "Come in my kitchen", and "Terraplane" or "Crossroad blues" by Robert Johnson and "Feel like going' home" by early Muddy Waters.
Glass: light, singing (better to buy or to produce a slide from a real bottleneck)
Metal: loud, fat sound...
You have to check out by yourself. I change the bottleneck from time to time (not every month but maybe after 2 years playing one). A good exercise is to play a lot with a metal slide and then, after 2 weeks, to switch to glass slide: your bottleneck will fly away and you will produce a great sound.
Damn, Lena, you're cooler than me! - and you have the Volleyball Jones pickers vid response - gotta be my fav band on YT!! You left me an my 2 resos in muddy water!
Wow what fantastic tone! And great technique. I have a 1957 reso-phonic covered in mother of toilet seat that sounds similar. Hearing you was a real treat. Thank You!
Damn it! ;) I´m just getting bottleneck-style started with the help of that book by Mr. Köchli (nice book, if you ask me). Your work here is totally awesome, keep it up. I´m looking forward to play like this one day- i should go back to my open-E tuned guitar. Greetings from Holger
Awesome blues Lena! Hey have you ever seen a movie "crossroads". That's the reason why I love the blues as much as I do know. this kind of music just works it way straight into your heart doesn't it? lovely performance!Anne
Und ja,"Come On In My Kitchen" ist gleich an "Sitting On Top Of The World" Chatmon Bros.(=Mississippi Sheiks).
Musik.
Had to watch your video again with my wife. I just love this piece. Your playing is excellent. My wife feels that your playing sounds so authentic (like listening to Elmore James). Are you sure you are not from Texas? :-)
The great "old" Country Blues Masters and amazing Elmore James, early Muddy Water, I listen all of them Pat,for years and still do. Maybe there is something like rebirth going on (actually I come from the Danube ;=)).
You and your wife made me a wonderful compliment. Thanks so much!
The issue is not amplified or acoustic it is your great playing ability. If that is the way you play frustrated please stay frustrated. Have a good day.
I agree. The accidental tone sounds great. The Stones used that same melody for one of their early blues tunes(You Got to Move). The Resolectric that you have looks much like an old National Resophonic that I had in the 80s. Only it had no built in pickup and a humbucker had been added. I think yours was a stepping stone between that design and the current Resolectric. I currently use a Reso' that I have converted for lap play. I call it my Banjo guitar, due to the lack of sustain.
My Resolectric was built in 1991,serial No. 075. One of the very first, you're right. Good idea to try her for lap playing. Actually I use my Framus for this from time to time, sounds great too.
Lady you are GREAT guitarist. And maybe you made that tone "by a mistake" but you ended up playing with a tone that most young men would give their right arm for!!
Thanks, but don't forget that this crude sound was caused by a mistake. However: I love my Reso and I will post this guitar with her "real" acoustic tone in the next time.
The guitar was played totally unplugged. It was an accident: forgot to switch laptop from low to high energy.
Is one of the very first ResoLectric (75th!) of the standard new ones. (The current version have three volume control and a little bit different pickup system)
That's a pretty cool little laptop mic you got. You're so bang on--it gives a neat mortal texture. I'm wearin this one out sis. Have a great weekend eh.
Thanks Lena. I just need to find one that has the reverse effect. I'm all over the mortal thang. Think I can find one that will help my rhythm too? Vista sucks. (I'm sure.) Peace
Hot like hell! I'm working on it to add an awesome Bluesharp, then we can go into the footgangerzone and make a lot of money together. Then we need never go to work anymore... J))

Hi Lena,
Great sound you are getting here. I can't help but imagine you playing with electric bass and drums backing you up.

Hey Lena, it's gonna be rainin' outdoors!!!
Great, love that double chord resolution on the fith fret high E string!
Is that resolectric an older Jnr Resolectric or one of the standard newer ones?
Love them , are you plugged in or not?
Cheers, Deltablues4761

Thanks so much Dean!

I now checked out that the reason for this texture was the lap mic plus energy conservation mode. Understand David? Was LOW energy ;-))

Thanks Lena. I just need to find one that has the reverse effect. I'm all over the mortal thang. Think I can find one that will help my rhythm too? Vista sucks. (I'm sure.) Peace
