  • Lena...Hiowdy! Hadn't seen this video until tonight....thought your slide was gonna melt into a pool of molten lava...my eardrums sure did...that was AWESOME!!!

    Cheers! Blind Brand X.

  • @bbx52 it seems that a little anger and frustration pushed my musical expression. I should accept that. ;)) Thanks so much BBX!!

  • HAHA thanks Mark!! Fury has the ability to generate creativity .... sometimes ;))

  • Hello Lena, I just popped by to be wowed by your wonderful playing my friend.... Wow, that was good ;o)

    Mark...

  • Wunderbar !

  • I love the sound, you're really talented Lena!

  • Thank you so much Anthony!! Really love to read your comment. The tune is in Open G tuning. All the best Lena (by the way: new tune on my new Hawaiian guitar in about 2 weeks :))

  • @lenaspieltblues Thanks Lena. I figured it was open G, been messing around with it for a day or two, really nice tuning. Look forward to your new video. A.

  • I love what you are playing here Lena and love your playing full stop. I've never even seen one of those National Resolectric guitars before, it sounds down and dirty and very authentic. What tuning are you using? I've just stared playing slide mainly using open d major, but am branching out into open g major and getting some nice results. Like yourself i too am a huge John Fahey fan, along with Ry, and Muddy and loads of others. Keep up the great work...A

  • Robert Johnson would be proud of your slide guitar.

  • @lessthan427 I am proud about comments like this ... :DD Thanks so much!!

    Lena

  • Hi are you improvising that by ear or reading the music.Awesome playing regardless.

  • @ZEDZOR2 Thank you very much. Well, I play all three tunes for a long time. I learned them years ago by tab-reading. But from controlling the tune on I play it free, changing the tune as mood needed

  • @lenaspieltblues Thanks for your reply to my questions.Im blown away with how good ur phrasing and timing is.Rory block couldn't lace your shoes. All the best from Scotland.

  • lena, needed a pinch of good blues this morning...choose your video...feel already better (now)...thanks for the 'pain'...from the strings...can tackle the day... now...well done...good blues... thanks for your heart! (after all)

  • @nsumx Thanks so much for your warm-hearted comment. Will make my working day glorious, Lena :))

  • Yeah Lena blows my blues away , fine art , fine goodvibes ,schöön....

    gruss oliver

  • @ROCSTA13 Nochmal vielen Dank Oliver!

  • Very nice-you've obviously gotten deep inside the Johnson genre! Coolest guitar ever made and my next purchase!

  • Thank you VERY much!!!

    Lena

  • Like wow. I just tripped over your profile as a friend of Daddy Stovepipe. You're playing some cool licks.

You may think you mucked up the settings but I'm diggin the axe you're using and the sound coming out.

Greetnings from the great sunburnt land of Oz.

  • Where is Oz (so cold here)? Thanks for your very nice comment! You are right, in the meanwhile I recognized that the sound is special and good. But I think it's better to let the first impression in the information box.

    Many greetings,

    Lena :))

  • cmon in my kitcen!

    really nice

  • Thanks and all the best,

    Lena :))

  • Lovin every moment of it. You kick more ass than there is ass to kick, don't EVER sell yourself short Lena! You rock my sox!

    Lena :=)))

  • Turbo THANKS!! Glad that you like It :=))

    lena

  • Great ! do you have the tab to help me playing your music ?

  • Thanks so much! Well, it's something like a medley, there is not one tab but three. Search for "Come in my kitchen", and "Terraplane" or "Crossroad blues" by Robert Johnson and "Feel like going' home" by early Muddy Waters.

  • great ! what is the tuning ?

  • wow love this first you do fred then robert and then muddy :) 5 big and shiny starts for you !

  • Thanks so much Jesse ... really enjoy your words :=)))

    Best wishes from oversea

    Lena

  • come on in my kitchen man awesome awesome stuff lena awesome dom

  • You are too kind!!! Maybe have to send some self cooked to Australia ;=D

  • Hallo Lena ! Do you know how much does reso jr

    cost?

  • Don't know exactly, maybe about $ 1,100,-

  • Another question...what slide is better - glass or

    metal ?

  • Glass: light, singing (better to buy or to produce a slide from a real bottleneck)

    Metal: loud, fat sound...

You have to check out by yourself. I change the bottleneck from time to time (not every month but maybe after 2 years playing one). A good exercise is to play a lot with a metal slide and then, after 2 weeks, to switch to glass slide: your bottleneck will fly away and you will produce a great sound.

  • Thanks!

  • Super Cool!!! Did you replace the neck pickup?

  • No, I didn't. This is one of the very first Resolectric that was built, the newer models are a little bit different ...

  • Hallo Lena !

Was gibt's da viel zu sagen ?

Kunst kommt eben von "Können" !

    Einfach genial !!!

    5***** und Fav

    and I don't worry

    Barry

  • No Barry, NO! You're a liar ;=DD

Asked Volleyball for to sent me their vid, and you, YOU are so cool!!!

    Cheers,

    lena :=))

  • No Barry, NO!!! You are a liar ;=))

Volleyball sent me their vid because I asked them for doing this.

And you're so COOL on YOUR vids ...

    Cheers, Lena :=)))

  • what tuning are you in for this...ive seen several tunings for delta blues but i like this style the best.

  • Thank you Andrew. This is in "standard Delta tuning": Open G (from low to high): D-G-D-g-h-d

  • you are absolutely amazing i love me some delta blues

  • Wow what fantastic tone! And great technique. I have a 1957 reso-phonic covered in mother of toilet seat that sounds similar. Hearing you was a real treat. Thank You!

  • I thank you weefler :=))

  • ... I'm not a blues-expert ... but I like it very much - hope you got a replacement for your resonator guitar for more blues like this....

  • Wowee wonderful; I have a Resolectric ... you're inspirational. Thx. Rutwinks.

  • Thanks Rutwinks, it's a honor for me being an inspiration for you. :=))

  • you rock woman.

  • Thank you Luke, but I have bad news for you: I sold this guitar few weeks ago to buy myself a Weissenborn. So this vid is history ;=))

  • AWESOME :P

    you have the blues

  • Damn, you really got the blues!!!

    Hi Lena,

nice to see a german girl playin´ the good old style with such a feelin´ . keep it on !

    Liebe Grüsse aus Wiesbaden :-)

  • Vielen Dank Mac, geht scho immer weiter, na klar! :=)

  • Damn it! ;) I´m just getting bottleneck-style started with the help of that book by Mr. Köchli (nice book, if you ask me). Your work here is totally awesome, keep it up. I´m looking forward to play like this one day- i should go back to my open-E tuned guitar. Greetings from Holger

  • Danke Holger! :=))

  • Awesome guitar, awesome player. Loved it!

  • Thanks a lot Doug :=)

  • Very good, sounds very close to Come on in my kitchen for the first part, although I know the timing and form can be very common

  • Thanks Jimmy

  • HOLY CRAP! You're awesome!!! Makes me regret selling my dobro :`(

  • Thanks a lot for the nice words :=))

I have had a National Polychrome Tricone before. Sold it and buy this one.

  • I'm back for more.This is great.

  • You are a very good player! I love slide guitar...it is the best way to play guitar, I play all my beauties in slide.

  • Thanks a lot Maxime ! :=))

  • Awesome blues Lena! Hey have you ever seen a movie "crossroads". That's the reason why I love the blues as much as I do know. this kind of music just works it way straight into your heart doesn't it? lovely performance!Anne

  • Blues is a healer, believe me Anne. Thanx so much :=))

  • You are a GREAT player. Thanks for this.

Und ja,"Come On In My Kitchen" ist gleich an "Sitting On Top Of The World" Chatmon Bros.(=Mississippi Sheiks).

  • Lena (= my mothers name too!). Fabtastic !!!!

Musik.

  • Cool :-D

  • Had to watch your video again with my wife. I just love this piece. Your playing is excellent. My wife feels that your playing sounds so authentic (like listening to Elmore James). Are you sure you are not from Texas? :-)

  • The great "old" Country Blues Masters and amazing Elmore James, early Muddy Water, I listen all of them Pat,for years and still do. Maybe there is something like rebirth going on (actually I come from the Danube ;=)).

You and your wife made me a wonderful compliment. Thanks so much!

  • Great Sound!!

    I have National's 1999 model.

The shape is almost same as yours. And with P-90(early Lollar pick up) and Lip-Stick.

Nice guitar but soon the 1st string get out of the rail when picking it hard :-)

    Nice job!!

  • I have the same guitar but it does not sound as good as yours ;-)

  • I see I have to post again similar tunes with my Reso: both, unplugged and amplified, but without frustration ;=)) What do you think?

  • The issue is not amplified or acoustic it is your great playing ability. If that is the way you play frustrated please stay frustrated. Have a good day.

  • Stay frustrated and having a good day ??? OK, I try to do ! ;=)))

Thanks so much for your nice words, will have a look on your channel later (can't hear the music yet).

    Stay tuned!

  • Superbe!! Like It Lena! Shall I place it in Our Sonny Landreth Group on LastFm. I like It!

  • Oh William, thank you! Would be a honor! :=)) Also thanks to all other encouraging commenter...

  • Very nice. Keep up the good work.

  • very enjoyable

  • Klingt echt cool. 5*****

  • I'll come into your kitchen anytime!!

    Keep on sliding!

  • It,s bound to be raining outdoors so I'll sit in tonight and listen to this, great playing Lena

  • Love it! Well played, real Blues. Thanks.

  • I agree. The accidental tone sounds great. The Stones used that same melody for one of their early blues tunes(You Got to Move). The Resolectric that you have looks much like an old National Resophonic that I had in the 80s. Only it had no built in pickup and a humbucker had been added. I think yours was a stepping stone between that design and the current Resolectric. I currently use a Reso' that I have converted for lap play. I call it my Banjo guitar, due to the lack of sustain.

  • Thank you guy!

My Resolectric was built in 1991,serial No. 075. One of the very first, you're right. Good idea to try her for lap playing. Actually I use my Framus for this from time to time, sounds great too.

  • Lady you are GREAT guitarist. And maybe you made that tone "by a mistake" but you ended up playing with a tone that most young men would give their right arm for!!

  • WOW! what a compliment ... Thanks a lot !

    :~))

  • unplugged ! Wow! Nice playing.

I so want a resolectric...tons of cheap copies, only one National.

  • Thanks, but don't forget that this crude sound was caused by a mistake. However: I love my Reso and I will post this guitar with her "real" acoustic tone in the next time.

  • hey i like it....really good... : )

  • Sounds great! Really swings. Nice guitar, too.

  • Great groove and feeling!

  • Hi Lena,

Great sound you are getting here. I can't help but imagine you playing with electric bass and drums backing you up.

    Steve

  • Thanks so much Daniel and Steve. No Steve, just me and my guitar (and a wrong adjusted computer).

  • yeahhhh !!! ça c'est du bon blues!...Bravo

  • This is my new idol!!! LOL!!!

  • Wow, thanks so much :-))) (from ear to ear)

  • Hey Lena, it's gonna be rainin' outdoors!!!

Great, love that double chord resolution on the fith fret high E string!

Is that resolectric an older Jnr Resolectric or one of the standard newer ones?

Love them , are you plugged in or not?

    Cheers, Deltablues4761

    Dean

  • Thanks so much Dean!

The guitar was played totally unplugged. It was an accident: forgot to switch laptop from low to high energy.

Is one of the very first ResoLectric (75th!) of the standard new ones. (The current version have three volume control and a little bit different pickup system)

  • ***** stars für lena, the lady of blues

    rudi

  • That's a pretty cool little laptop mic you got. You're so bang on--it gives a neat mortal texture. I'm wearin this one out sis. Have a great weekend eh.

    yerbrolowlifer

  • I now checked out that the reason for this texture was the lap mic plus energy conservation mode. Understand David? Was LOW energy ;-))

  • Thanks Lena. I just need to find one that has the reverse effect. I'm all over the mortal thang. Think I can find one that will help my rhythm too? Vista sucks. (I'm sure.) Peace

  • You are Amazing:)Very Inspiring:)Peace and Happiness:)Long Live The Blues:)

    Bluesy

  • Hot like hell! I'm working on it to add an awesome Bluesharp, then we can go into the footgangerzone and make a lot of money together. Then we need never go to work anymore... J))
