Hey folks, I know you're probably busy; but, WOULD YOU PLEASE READ the following: I wrote a song from a phrase that my best friend, who was dying from cancer would say to me--”Mark, even if I don’t feel good, God is good”. He told me that even though he was dying, he was never happier in his life. Only God can do that. His name was Ron Williams. The song is titled--GOD IS GOOD EVEN IF; Just type: mark behrens even if (for the search)
Thanks for posting this. I have loved this song for a long time, ever since I first heard it on Delilah's radio show when we lived in Nashville. I had two tiny kids and the song made me cry then. Now I have two teens and a 5th grader, and they are growing bigger by the minutes. What a beautiful, bittersweet song--treasure those kids.
I have always loved this song. I would comment Mr. Watson on the apearrel of his back-up singer. So many times back-ups are dressed in a manner that is less than what a Christian should wear. The purple dress is lovely and is a testament to the character of the lady who is wearing it.
This song reminds me of growing up. I was a child of this era in Christian music. It makes me so sad to think of days gone by and how fast those days went.
Just heard this for the first time and I am crying - my sons are now 17 and almost 20 and I miss the little boys that they were...I will always be their Mom but I am not their Mommy any more...the time goes by so quickly you can't believe it, so enjoy them while they are little or medium or big! God bless you Wayne, what a beautiful song.
Our children are 19 and 22. In the blink of an eye, they grew up and left home...enjoy your children in every stage of their lives because it goes so fast. Thank you Wayne for writing this song...it is truly a tribute to all parents in the world today!
@MrMikegriffey When mine were small I used to hate it when older people would tell me, "They grow up too fast!" I would think, "I can't WAIT!" But I loved every bit of it and yes, it did go by too quickly. Now I am that woman who tells young parents, "It goes by too quickly!" My sons didn't draw any ponies, it was airplanes, the one who drew planes is studying to be an aerospace engineer...The other one is a musician.
Back in 1986 & 7 when I drove 49 miles to work in Ft. Worth I listened to see what album that 'brother Jerry' was going to play on 91.7 . When he played 'Giants in the Land' again, my heart was soaring; it was always new and precious. And hearing this 'video' for the first time, tears.. I love it. Born in Zion was on my heart..still..I remember this one.
i first heard this song when i was a teenager, and i thought it was beautiful way back then, then i had my 2 angels i call my sons and now i truly know what this song means, my sons are teenagers now and it scares me to know that they will do exactly what this song says, "knowing the watercolor ponies will one day ride away". thankyou for sharing this song. God bless you and your family
My Watercolour Ponies Are now About to Ride Away! We started listening to this song when our first son was born almost 20 years ago. God Bless us with 2 more sons and this has always been our Theme Song throughout their lives! Cherish every moment!!!!! Don't work for "material things" spend every moment you can with them!! They do spread their wings! And it is a bittercup but worth it when you see the beautiful person they become because you spent the time with them!
Wow! It brought back memories I first heard it about 20 years ago. And it has never lost its charm at all. Wayne is a prolific songwriter with a string of hits such as, "Friend Of A Wounded Heart", "Almighty", Another Time, Another Place, just to name a few. Hmmm...nowadays they don't write songs like they used to.
-- Someone can't spell watercolor correctly. It's COLOR not COLOUR? No one spells it that way! I don't care if you're English, if you were English then you'd follow the dictionary. Ever heard of Websters? The first entry IS the corrrect spelling.
-- Spelling it some British way is a myth, just like evolution and the metric system.
@MikeSPx24bj9 The original British spelling COLOUR existed before the American spelling COLOR. Noah Webster changed the original spelling to COLOR. Both spellings are correct depending on whether you're British or American. Just like it's not incorrect for a British person to have a British accent, it's not incorrect for a British person to spell words with British spelling.
@jackette55 Actually BOTH "color" and "colour" were used in Middle English times and early-modern english. Neither predates the other - they coexisted.
In Old English it was "colur". The Romans used "colos" which actually meant covering
@MikeSPx24bj9 "No one spells it that way"? Um, everyone in the UK spells it that way. By the way, ever hear of the Oxford English Dictionary? If you did you'd know why it's superior to Noah's little book of definitions.
@jackette55 Actually BOTH "color" and "colour" were used in Middle English times and early-modern english. Neither predates the other - they coexisted. There was no correct spelling of the word, because there were no dictionaries. People spelt how they wanted
.
In Old English it was "colur". The Romans used "colos" which actually meant covering
.
So you see there's no one correct way. It varies over time, and the distinction between "colur" "colour" or "color" is completely arbitrary
This is such a touching reminder to really enjoy & appreciate the time you have with your children. It seems we blink our eyes & they are growing and changing and on to another phase of life. It's sooo easy to brush them off, send them to watch tv or play by themselves while we do something "more important," but the reality is that the "important" stuff will still be there waiting, but our kids will not. We have precious little time to influence them for Christ -- make it count! Thanks for this.

The original song has an instrumental element to it missing here, that complements the song so perfectly.
