I bot one of this cards and it had to many problem i had to send it back and the software that came with it Catalyst Media Center was one of the most problematic software i have ever seen it docent work  real good, not even with windows media center there technical support is joke don't waist you're time and money with this

You don't get HDTV through composite, s-video, or coaxial. This TV card will NOT allow you to watch TV is HD. at the most, it will convert HDTV to standard TV.

This is a tuner. It takes an HD signal over coax from your cable provider, OTA signal, etc and allows your computer to tune that signal and display the HD content that is being broadcast.

yes, but it is not displayed at a 720p or 1080p signal. Its converted to SD, so the end result is like watching old analogue TV

Do you have a source that supports this? As far as I can tell, this card supports full HD bitstreams. And for the record, HD downconverted to SD is still vastly superior to old analog signals.

no I don't nesseccarily have a source.  It's just common knowledge that these little TV tuners do not display full HD signals. They take the HD signal, and downgrade to it SD (like you just said)

I do however, agree that a downgraded HD signal does still look alot better than an a straight SD signal.

I never said that they typically take an HD signal and downgrade to SD. Any modern ATSC tuner should be capable of displaying the full HD content. Re-encoding HD content to SD would require a lot of processing power and would not be practical for a little card like this. Virtually every tuner I've seen is capable of tuning the full HD content without a problem. I'm not sure where you got the idea that it is "common knowledge" that tuner cards don't do what they're advertising.

all current HDTV tuners are crap. NONE of them let you watch or record the premium HD channels. You can only watch/record SD channels, and a few basic HD channels (NBC, ABC, etc...).

Not that it's their fault, its really because if your cable/satellite company encrypting them.

I just got this hd 600 tuner and a comcast hd box, and let me tell you, if ur an hd fanatic you'll only be disappointed with this product.

This product only has composites not component, s-video is not much different than component, coax isnt that good 2.

This product is only good if u want to play wii or nintedo gamecube, not ps3 and xbox. Pretty grainy picture quality for a cheap tuner lol.
