@sodope420 i said 49 percent because i don't remember don't give up being released under the name röyksopp and also lyrics of don't give up has been used by the whitest boy alive while 49 percent had been released with completely different lyrics.
@BCE86 From the wikipedia page for 49 Percent: The song initially was written as "Don't Give Up" and sung in live shows, then was developed into "49 Percent" and "Don't Give Up" was covered by the band The Whitest Boy Alive"
@sodope420 i don't think it was a cover, just search for twba track and you'll see what i mean. and there's no info about it in the album being a cover, probably erlend oye wrote the lyrics and he used it in his own band's album. röyksopp took their share of samples and turned it into %49 percent.
49 percent and don't give up lyrics are totally different btw.
@BCE86 I am aware that the lyrics are different. The track (i.e. music) is the same. You may be right though about Erlend writing the lyrics. He and Röyksopp have a history of collaboration, but as I said, this performance predates even the existence of TWBA, so the Röyksopp performances are in a sense the orginals. My guess is that when TWBA formed, Erlend kept his lyrics and arranged the orginal tune for the band while Röyksopp kept the orginal track, got new lyrics/melody and it became 49 %.
@sodope420 that's what i am trying to say. they probably collaborated with erlend even before he recorded the kings of convenience debut and when things didn't work out between them, erlend got the lyrics -the song title too- which he wrote and röyksopp got what they brought in.
later they used the same samples in another track with different lyrics and title which is %49 while erlend used the title and the lyrics on a completely different song...
i like the original in space better, but what makes this so damn impressive is how hard it must be to perform this, even with all the rehearsing they must go through,
how come they play the beats from 49 percent, when this is from 2002. as far as I know that song was released in 2005?? Very cool live performance anyway :D!!
Because this is the original version! But i think Erlend Øye wrote the lyrics and wanted them back or something like that.Check out the whitest boy alive - Don't Give Up.That didn't come out before 2006
bro cos im a decent guy im willing to spread the word of royksopp from aus to you give you a copy....whats your sdress and i will send you a copy.....
