  • And the price for this was 99$. Anyway, at that time it was a revolutionary system.

  • Its color?!?!

  • dx smopuiM is better.

  • In its year of release, even though this is a very simple operating system, it has very heavy printed manuals which contains installation instructions.

  • Reminds me of dos

  • the link doesnt exist anymore!!!!

  • Nice OS for those old times

  • Better than windows vista.

  • @lukebccb Actually, while Vista sucked on release, it's updates made it a decent operating system so long as you know how to care for your computer.

However, it IS better than the Mac :P

  • This OS is soo hot.. oh yeah...

  • epic pc.......

  • I have downloaded it too but when i type WIN it shows

    Microsoft Windows Version 1.03 Starting

and then all kinds of things come up with BLEEPS

And then a screen with a Strange thing Upleft!

I make a video about it if u want to know about it

  • it does look useful for business type work

  • I want oneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee - been using windows since Windows 3

  • already better than mac OS 10 xDD

  • Apolgies people; I've recently reworked my site, and I've managed to misplace the Win 1 image... If I can find where I've left it I'll stick a new link up, but for those after it I originally got it from vetusware, so check 'em out.

  • link does not effect. his website is out of date (never pay money)

  • type setup to begin setup

  • you download and install using floppy disks (can be installed using 5.25 floppy or 8 inch floppy, not only 3.5)

  • the download link is dead dead dead.

  • That's Windows 1.01.

Windows 1.0 is hard to find.

About the network, it doesn't support it, but if DOS has network, Windows 1.x can interact with it to access to the network.

Proof: I've got an online game x)

  • wow thanks!!

ive been looking for ages to get this

  • finally!!!! someone who has it!!! and works!!! you should put better tags on this!!"

  • Right people, all I did was download the Windows 1.0 Floppy image originally from Vetusware, which allows Windows 1.0 to be run from the floppy disc, no installation required (because I was having trouble "installing" windows 1.0 in a virtual machine.

To make things easier, I've uploaded the Floppy image I use and added a link to the video description.

Just create a new virtual machine and mount this as floppy image. Then leave it there, as the virtual pc will boot from that image always :)

  • think i might get this for my dog

  • I downloaded windows 1.01 off of Vetusware but now I dont no what to do now

  • Right, is it IMA format? If so, just create a new Virtual Machine. Boot it up, and mount the IMA as the floppy drive. Let it boot from the IMA. It should then either instal Windows 1, or simply boot Windows 1 from the floppy. If this is the case, then simply leave the IMA mounted and there you go, you have a fully functional Virtual maching running Win1 (off a floppy disc).

  • but i've downloaded it!! it was just saved as disk1 and disk2.RAR!! i used WinImage, but virtual pc didn't accept it :( can i get a download link that isn't like that?

  • That's were I got this. This is running in VirtualPC. I had the exact same problem after actually installing this and other early versions of Win from IMAs. However this is actually the floppy version (boots and runs from a floppy image that I have mounted constantly). The image I downloaded from Vetusware <- AMAZING SITE!!!

But yeah, as of yet the oldest version of Win I can run from a VirtualHD under VirtualPC is eiher Win98 (DOS) or WinNT4 (NT).

  • type in on google download windows 1.01 by microsoft click on the vetus ware one

  • how can i get Microsoft Virtual Pc ti run Windows 1.0 every time i try it says can't find system disk

  • do u even have the disk?
