i have a mate who was well into the inspirals before the rest of the lads and when we started to get into them he broke all his records coz he was pissed of we had got into them, what a fucking nutter eh, he is now a psychologist and that's no fucking joke lol
Yeah I live just outside Oldham and remember everyone in our town had heard of the inspirals. Used to see them shopping in Eastern Bloc in town or at gigs/raves in Manchester. It was weird to see such famous people doing exactly the same things you were doing. My brother is still mates with Clint. Top lads, no airs and graces, and what a fuckin stonkin tune -best tho is Saturn 5
No One says bloody marvellous unless your a Yank who have watched Adrian Brody in Summer of Sam.Nice try though peace through violence as you yanks seem to do things xxx
Tom Hingley and the lovers we're supposed to play in my shithole town but it was cancelled cos they didn't sell enough tickets! I was gonna get Steve Hanley(the god of fuckin bass) to sign my bass as well. Fuck!
Its keighley in West Yorkshite, a cultural void where people still point at planes, and don't realise when legends are gonna land their backyard for fucks sake
I think Tom Hingley is floating about doing acoustic stuff(don't quote me on that!) They've nothing on their website/myspace so looks like I'll have to stalk Steve Hanley for that autograph
I saw both ands in Newport Center on different occassions. The Smiths were great until Morrisey was pulled from the stage. I was one of the crowd holding him when this happend. The Inspirals were just something else. Saw them a few times. All in all two brilliant bands.
This is the best thing the Inspirals ever did, brilliant - their best song and their best video. Who did the video by the way - a mate of mine said it was Derek Jarman but I think he is pulling my leg???
It was the "Dung 4" demo cassette that they used to sell at their early gigs. Tom wasn't the singer back then though, it was a bloke called Stephen Holt...
i remember this being the number one indie video on the old ch4 chart show at the end of 1989...my favourite inspirals tune and tip top video....loving the organs, no one since the doors do them better...
Got me ma and all my sad u2 fans into the inspirals.
now they all want cool as fuck t shirts.

You can get that T-Shirt off their website and they used to sell them at Urbis in Manchester.
Yep, Sir, you are right they are cool as fuck, I'm off to see Tom Hingley at Q Bar in Stalybridge next month as a night called Acoustic Eclectic.

Which town is that, Jay?
This place is a free gig in just a little music friendly pub 3 miles from Oldham, 6 or so miles from Manchester centre.

'Joe' Inspiral Carpets
'Fools Gold' Stone Roses
'Hallelujah' Happy Mondays
I have to say, listening now, it's hard to decide, but 'Joe' has such power.
Some city ought to come up with a scene again, come on!
