I think the mask symbolizes the man's life. It represents the lie he is willingly living in. His partner doesn't love him anymore, so it's just routine that he's doing.

To put it simply, his life is a joke.

Taking the mask off means he has finally confronted the truth.

Now, how he reacts to the bitter fact, is left to the viewer as the screen fades out.

There entire first album is a masterpiece. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is an amazing EP. Ape Dos Mil, is a favorite by them but judging by pure raw emotion in a song Im am going with either "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Silence" or "Siberian Kiss" as the better. I dig the slower stuff sometimes, Ape Dos Mil is that for these guys but certainly not that hardcore in most of their songs. Listen to "Her Middle Name was Boom" "Majour" or "Piano". Great stuff. I see them on Tuesday again.
