I'm converting it right, it sounds normal in my audio player, but when I try to play it in-game, I get this weird, low-pitched "bwooo bwooo bwoooo" sound. What could be wrong?

Just wanted to say thank you for making a very clear, easy to understand video. I've been having problems with playing most of my files though - when I hit the playback button (F1), the ! shows but no one hears anything. Sometimes when I turn off the sounds, my playername lights up for a 1/10th of a second and turns off again.

Testing sample files from the hldj website work fine. I even had my brother send me a file of his that worked, and it was fine. My own files don't though. Any ideas why?

@Swampertdude56 I'm glad you liked the vid, unfortunately i havent used this program in a very long time so im not too sure why that would be happening. it may be a problem with the file type, make sure you are using .mp3 and converting them to .wav but other than that im not really sure sorry.

@LazyNightz I'm having the same problem. When I listen to the WAV in WMP it works pretty well, but when I play it in TF2 it's kinda "grainy"

@Corrderio ya I know it works in some servers and then when I play it, the audio itself is okay but sounds muffled and when other people play there's the audio sounds clear so I don't know if Audacity is the best source to use and edit stuff in all honesty..

what is wrong when you are recordering your own music and like the recording is delayed ... i layed a simple beat down down and recorded it and then i recorded my voice in there also and in person it was right on tythem and on the recording it was toooo slow is that just a bad mic

I just realized ( currently about nightmare house 2 ) that the sound files ( C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\sourcemo­ds\NH2\sound ) in NH2 are wav files so the first part of this tut. is about turning the sounds into wav files so that really helped :3

Iev been have the problem of the sound comming out like shitt earther too slow or just realy bad fuzz any clue on fixing that? btw its for L4d2 so idk if its got a different setting or whet.

@Tinak00777 L4D2 has a source engine so make sure you use 11025 Hz. If that still gives you problems try using other songs, some react badly to the conversion.

So I converted my audio files, and when I hit my play key, it sounds very scratchy, and not at all recognizable, a "pinging" tone that increases in volume before becoming a garbled mess. okay so im playing counter strike condition zero, and i have one wave file that works but the other is like slowed down. did i miss something? if yes do you have any advice?

Make sure you chose the correct Project Rate. 11025 for a Source game or 8000 for a Half-Life 1 game.

But because you got one to work, it is probably just the song you are using.

Unfortunately, not all songs convert well and some have speed or sound distortion problems. Goodluck :D

Open a song in Audacity and it should show something that looks like that.

I'm pretty sure you can, but im not sure about songs you have downloaded from iTunes. You should still be able to though.

In iTunes, right-click on the song you want to use, and select 'Get Info.' In the summary tab, down the bottom it will tell you where the song is located on your computer. Just navigate to that file and open the song with Audacity and follow my guide in the video.

When you change all these settings, you are lowering the quality of the music. Try another song and see if it works.
